In the end, the market trend says that you are right, that the market goes higher from here…However, we will retest the lows either nominally (when the depression scare kicks in again) or we will retest the lows in real value (as opposed to nominal value) due to inflationary effects down the road.
The truth that we are still in the deflationary cycle (short term) will be revealed in about a month, when the earnings strt to kick in/stink again!
All I am saying here is that we are in a deflationary cycle short term and hyperinflationary cylce, long term.

I have this market neutral play that I am putzing around with just to keep my interest. In this play, I am short 3 and long 3 like stocks. I wake up this morning to find out that one of my shorts has been covered by TS. No cash problems on my side, no trade made on my side – WTF? I call TS to find out that they had to cover due to not being able to find shares to deliver! WHAT THE FUCK? I had thought the other 50% of the time that I wanted to short through those dipsticks and received the “security not easy to borrow” message was the worst of it. Now, I am allowed to enter positions short and need to worry about being closed out due to their fuckery? Anyone else having this experience with their broker? Amazing. Their response? “Well, we are not allowed to carry naked shorts like we used to.” How does one rely on a system with this sht happening?

Not true. TS never had the shares, so they couldn’t be yanked. TS simply couldn’t find the shares to borrow, within the 3 day time frame.
Early this year I was subject to the same fuckery, but came to realize that IB doesn’t engage in such. Now I go long only at TS and short only at IB and my fuckery problems have been solved.

I have been daytrading 7 years and trading 13 years – never had it happen before. I must be one lucky dude if it happens all the time. BTW, I don’t like it – who the fuck would?
Supposedly this has been happening lately to stocks with high short interest.
Here’s interactive brokers’ short sale process for reference (not sure if TS does exactly the same thing, but it should be relatively similar). Provided that you made the trade before 2:30-3:10 PM Eastern, your broker really should’ve notified you. If not, they’re dirty bitches. If you made it after 2:00 PM Eastern or so then in the future either trade less shorted stocks, make the transactions earlier in the day, or take it as a cost of shorting (and change your models to account for this possibility).
Fuck misread step 1. They should’ve just notified you before the close of the settlement date. If they didn’t, they’re dirty fuckers and you should be yelling at them for no warning.
Alvari, I fucking hate TS for shorting. I short on average 5 stocks every day, and every fucking night when entering in orders I get that “ding” error message because the “security is not easy to borrow.”
I’m like, you are supposed to be the best fucking platform, a professional platform and brokerage, and you can never find me shares!!! I also have an account at IB, and 80% of the time, IB gets the same shares, no problem.
I have on occasion called the Trade Desk, and they can find shares for you, about 50% of the time. It is a pain to have to do that, but if you really want the shares, that is what you do.
I have also had TS call back short shares, after 3 days, because they couldn’t find any to borrow. When they did that, they left other shares in my account (I had scaled into a short position) but when they called some of the shares, they canceled the stop order I had set. The next day, the stock gaps up, and surprise surprise, I take a sizable loss, due to no stop.
I raised holy hell with TS, and they refunded my loss due to them removing my stop.
Recently some guy had IB do the same thing to him because the shares they thought they had to borrow got yanked. IB told him to go pound sand since it’s in their right to do it quoting some clause. Wish I could find the thread on it.
I’ve seen at least 5 other posts in the last few years on it.
