I don’t know how play the airlines but i can tell you a little story about one. Back in the late 80’s I worked for an I-bank that got involved in the leveraged buyout of NorthWest Airlines. It started off as a shit deal and the airline was teetering on the edge for a long time. Anyways the firm valued the stock in its books at 3 dollars a share after writing down impairment charges. 6 years later they sold the stock at 85 bucks a share. There’s a shit load of GDP leverage in airlines it seems. Once we get out of the recession the airlines that hung around will be seen as the survivors and they could catapult like that.
yeh I’m into airline stocks.
on the side, I was hired by Honda (at the time called Honda R&D, now they have officially changed it to HondaJet) to design and hand fabricate some interior pieces for the one and only prototype Honda jet that they hand made in a hangar here in Greensboro NC. Very nice small jet, they worked on it here making the one jet for about 6 years (mind blowing fabrication shop and equipment, the entire jet is rolled carbon fiber). Now they are building the big plant here to make them in production, I drove over to see it the other day. Alines, and the aluminum used to make them, once the recession is over should do well since they are so beaten down still now. I mean hell, US Airways is 3 bucks for crying out loud.
