The Aussie stock market put in a sterling performance today with the ASX 200 rising around 3.5%.. The rise was obviously influenced by Wall Street however there were also some astonishing stats that came out today showing better better business prospects going forward and better hiring expectations. Coupled with that you have better commodity prices and a leftist government that will move the budget position from a surplus of 2% a year, the conservatives were running, to a debt position of $300 billion over the next 3 years. This means the economy is absolutely super changed and any uptick in the world economy will see this place take off. Interest rates cuts are now off the table and I would be betting that some time next year by the first quarter the central bank will be raising rates.
I placed a sizable position on in Euro Aussie as I think that cross will move in the Aussie’s favor quite sharply over time. From 1.77 now to 1.50ish if we see a glimmer of hope in the US over the next several months.
I put the stop on at 1.8100 and if they get me they get me.
