I love the quote at around 7:00 where Ron Paul talks about the new economic paradigm and the old saying about turning lead into gold. I remember before the tech wreck about how CNBC would say “it’s a new paradigm” and old accounting rules don’t apply. That was bullshit then and will be forever. That new paradigm BS comes in late stages of the last two bubbles. The deflationary crash is not over yet.

The Competitive Enterprise Institute plans to recognize “Human Achievement Hour” between 8:30pm and 9:30pm on March 28, 2009 to coincide with Earth Hour, a period of time during which governments, individuals, and corporations have agreed to dim or shut off lights in an effort to draw attention to climate change. Anyone not foregoing the use of electricity in that hour is, by default, celebrating the achievements of human beings.
We salute the people who keep the lights on and produce the energy that helps make human achievement possible.
Green and private conservation are fine. We have no problem with an individual (or group) that wants to sit naked in the dark without heat, clothing, or light. Additionally, we would have no problem with the group holding a pro-green technology rally. That is their choice. But when this group stages a “global election” with the express purpose of influencing “government policies to take action against global warming,” we have every right as individuals to express our vote for the opposite.
If Human Achievement Hour is at all a dig against Earth Hour, it is so only by the fact that we are pointing out what Earth Hour truly is about: it isn’t pro-earth, it is anti-man and anti-innovation. So, on March 28th, CEI plans to continue “voting” for humanity by enjoying the fruits of man’s mind.

Here in Central Oregon, it is now taking 14-16 months for banks to complete the foreclosure process.
Look on the Multiple Listing Service, and type the name of any local bank, and you get pages and pages of bank owned property, this is for each bank. This does not include the foreclosures currently in the mill.
Our population is 78,000, with an estimated 2900+ homeless, of which 47% are children.
Our only community college just blocked all new enrollment for spring, citing lack of funding and teachers.
The consensus among local R.E. brokers, is that is has only just begun. That is not including the coming collapse in CRE.
Our jobless rate is reported by local government to be between 13-16%, but it is much higher than that, at an estimated 20%+.

Has anybody looked at the correlation between the dow and the eur/usd? They tend to follow eachother pretty closely. That being said the eur/usd is bounncing off the bearish trendline. More deflation anyone? Im not a stock trader but im pretty sure the fly is nailing this one to the wall. Proof is in price fuckers, and we have yet to establish a sustainable up trend.

The inverse relationship between the dow and usd is fading fast as the correlation has dropped 17 points to -0.77 from -0.94 a mere 10 days ago.
Unless you have millions in your bankroll to cover your mistakes, (I mean averaging down of course) I would suggest avoiding forex for a few weeks until the new pattern takes hold.
The 50 billion dollars allocated to building the medical record database of US citizens will be used for establishing credit in accordance with regulations written by the federal reserve bank and approved by the attorney general (powers granted to the federal reserve bank by the USA PATRIOT Act (H.R. 3162, Public Law 107-56), Title III, Subtitle B, Sec. 364).
This has some interesting ramifications. The federal reserve bank writes the regulations that pertrain to what can be used to allow credit regarding the new database and gets them approved by the attorney general. Since everything runs on credit, in the future, whatever physical or mental “fitness” infomation to conduct transactions will be determined by the federal reserve bank. They will submit regulations of what can and cannot be used and get it approved by the attorney general. There is also a section addressing powers of law enforcement granted to the federal reserve bank to protect operations. (also in section 364).
This project is an excellent opportunity for investment. 50 billion dollars is a lot of money over a five year period. Who would build the database?
I used to work in Finance at the Cleveland Clinic and technology leadership was pushing for years that electronic medical records be established for all medical providers. Small doctors offices can’t afford the cost to upgrade unless it’s subsidized by the government. The Cleveland Clinic has been using this technology for 8 years.
Here’s the thing all the deflation vortex kids need to watch very very carefully. IF the Aussie dollar holds above 70 cents and makes its way above 75 cents it could be an indication that strong inflation is coming our way within two years.
Recent research by Harvard’s Professor Rogoff establishes that the Australian dollar (along with the New Zealand and Canadian currencies) are reliable predictors of commodity prices over periods of up to two years.
“The fall of the Australian dollar in September 2008 heralded a collapse in global commodity prices as the bottom fell out of global demand. Similarly, a sustained hold of $A/$US above US75c opens the possibility that zero interest rates and fiscal stimulus packages will result in sudden return to above-trend global growth and high inflation (via higher commodity prices). If so, beware a future of very steep yield curves.”
Keep an watchful eye on that currency rate.
