So much for my early afternoon triumph.
Men running around in green leotards, like Bill Miller, are calling for a bottom. On top of that, it is well known the recession is played out. We need a nice rally, in order to placate the masses, who loathe opening their 401k statements.
In what seems like a complete reversal of the trend from 1 hour ago, banks look robust, led by gains in C and BAC. Catching bottoms or tops is never seemless and always done with error.
Considering this melt up, I am refraining from adding to any more shorts.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Romania’s economy grew by 9.1% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2008, the country’s National Institute of Statistics reported Wednesday. For the first nine months of the year, real gross domestic product expanded by 8.9%. “This performance definitely looks good considering the global crisis, but Romania had a horrible third quarter last year and also bad nine-month results in 2007, especially due to the drought that destroyed most crops,” said Adrian Ciocoi, Bucharest-based head of research for Riedel Research Group. Agriculture is one of the main components of Romanian GDP, and in 2008 the sector did very well, Ciocoi said. If agriculture is taken out of the GDP figure, then economic growth was 5.5% in the third quarter, he said. “Overall, we expect to see a GDP growth of 8.25% to 8.7% in 2008, but next year the GDP growth is expected to be 2% to 3% lower,” Ciocoi said. Still, Romania, which joined the European Union in January 2007, will continue to benefit from EU funds allocated for agriculture, infrastructure and public utilities.
