Not my bullshit Obama rally. Your bullshit Obama rally.

  2. BeWater says:

Now that picture is damn funny. If Fly hadn’t annexed my 401k I’d think it was hilarious.

  3. BHO says:

Oh sure, blame it on the black man.

  4. Anonymous says:

Fly flips flops so often, of course he will be right…eventually

Now where did I put that swatter at?

  5. scudbuster says:

fly, how low do you think we go by year end?

  6. Anonymous says:

Fly can only predict what will happen the next five minutes….

  7. chuckles the clown says:

There is no such thing as an “Obama rally”. It is a figment of our imagination, just like his ability to govern.

  8. mrkcbill says:

Was Bush really so wrong when he told us to go buy something.
Sounds like good advice about now.
Coach Obama better put it in gear and do it quick….market does not like lame duck environment.

Who spends the most on advertising? With out a doubt its GM,F,Toyota,Chrysler,….. Wonder how those guys pay? Anybody heard from Hank lately…that fucker is gonna figure out how get his stash and his ass out of America and quick.

  9. ok, now what? says:

In case you pudwackers haven’t noticed, flip-flopping is the only way to make money in this market. Quit being married to your positions and learn to be flexible. Your account will thank you.

  10. The Fly says:

    Ok:

Ignore the idiot. He is bitter over me taking his assets and throwing them from a helicopter.

  11. Goldie says:

    Ummmm…
Merlin is a little late on that call yes???

  12. Obama says:

Poof! Merlin gets slapped with an egregious “spell-casting tax” of $150K per incantation, plus an appropriate gross-up if the spell was used to create the money to pay the tax (I think of everything).

  13. The Contractor says:

That guy is a real dick.

  15. Donny says:

I could go on, and on, and on, about this fucked up stock market & economy. I won’t bore you, however, let me make this small point,we have not seen a bottom in this fuck job. There’s just no way … you can’t make 20 plus years of toxic debt disappear in 1 year without significant pain. I mean massive pain … the type of pain we have not seen yet.

What’s the gawd damned answer? That easy … live below your fuckin’ means. Hells Bells, I can afford a fuckin’ Lambo, but I do not own one. I can buy a Newport Coast Villa, but I do not own one.

    Donny–
you’re forgetting that America just elected the SUSA (savior of the United States of America).

Obama is the new paradigm. Change has come. All will be better now.

    All hail Obama!

  21. Donny says:

    Zen-

I know … I read about it in the Register yesterday.

Every Sunday morning I take a drive down Pacific Coast Highway, and the number of exotic cars is just off the charts. They’ve tripled since the housing bubble started.

    Anon-

    I agree. Now Fuck Off!

Just kidding … I like you. NOT!

No really, I was kidding! Do good on your trades, and make tons of coin.

  25. Eye No Stuff says:

De-leveraging, it’s a two-sided transaction, no? Someone is forced to sell an asset to repay a debt. But, someone else gets paid and now has to re-deploy that money. Too many people are thinking and talking about this process as if it’s one-sided, and causing money to disappear from our financial system.

  26. Obama Your Mama says:

  30. Thunderpup says:

Too many people are thinking and talking about this process as if it’s one-sided, and causing money to disappear from our financial system.

Dare to not be a titwillow. Only banks, governments and counterfeiters can create money. Only banks and governments can destroy money. Consider when a bank leveraged 60:1 goes bust. What happens?

  31. DEVILDOG says:

Hey Eye no nothing, here’s how it works in regard to the deleveraging. Someone at the end of the 40 to 1 leveraging has to sell his assets to cover his losses on his CDS that is worth zero to number 39. #39 has to sell his assets to cover his worthless CDS and take that money and the money from #40 and pay #38. Now repeat for #37 to ZERO which is the taxpayer who is left holding a bag full of shit. I don’t think 10/10 was the end of the process. Get the picture? I think I’m going to increase my SSF to 20 times as dumb I think cows and sheepeoples are from 10 times.

  32. T MOE says:

  34. Thunderpup says:

He switched, catching a huge rally, then switched back bearish. I’m guessing he did rip the faces off a few bears.

  35. Donny says:

    deLeveraging = deBalling

    This leads to

    Fundamental Basis = Enigma

Especially when they’re all doing it together. It creates a bottomless pit for asset prices. How can you evaluate an asset if there’s only a few buyers, and they know you’re desperate to sell. Asset fundamentals are thrown out the fucking window.

  36. Merlin says:

“President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year.”

Yeah, this is going to go over really well with all the alcoholics and pot-smokers on the local campuses.

There was no mention of this policy at all the Obama (sieg heil!) rallies. I’d like to change my vote, please.

  54. Damon says:

I agree with The Fly, no need for that racial b.s., you homo’s

  55. Small Fry says:

DevilDog seems to think the key moment for tomorrow will be the disastrous unemployment numbers. Bah, I say they are almost entirely baked in. To me the key moment for tomorrow is Obama lining up with the financial white guys and putting some of that angelspeak he does so well into a press conference format. Let me tell you, forget politics for one second - if Obama comes out and is even halfway convincing that he and his team will work on it - it will be a double-inverse of when Bush speaks.

I say we open lower when the unemployment number comes out, but once all those suits line up, and the deep soothing voice of the Great Leader makes a statement without an “uh” or furrowing his brow like Bush, and the market shoots up.

I expect to see a midday headline on this website that reads “Fuck you DevilDog, you’re dead!”

  56. solid waste says:

  66. Sarah Palin says:

Now that Obama is president, does that mean I’m not going to be vice president? Is there a separate election for that? This is all so gosh-darn confusing!

  67. JakeGint says:

    I’m disappointed in you Fly.

Look beyond the bullshit. They used the same tired bullshit about Bush (the “Africa is a country bullshit”) back in the early oughts.

You are going to take the word of an anonymous McCain (RINO) hack?

They got a little too cute on this one, sorry.

    _______

  68. JakeGint says:

And it’s really weak that you keep using Palin as a tag, too.

    WTF?

    _______

  69. The Fly says:

    Jake:

    Cut it out.

She is a fucking mind numbingly dumb idiot.

In no way would I ever vote for her, ever. I don’t look at party affiliations, when sizing up someones IQ. Without a doubt, she is a C student, at best.

Now if Romney was the nominee, I’d vote for him in a ny minute.

Just don’t be a dope and fall for obvious phony bullshit.

    “outside the box.”

    _______

  74. The Fly says:

    Nice impersonation.

  75. The Fly says:

Wrong. With me, it has always been about Palin. i told you from day 1 that I hated her.

  76. Small Fry says:

Volatility on the Nikkei tonight is crazy. They were down 600 then up 350 and are now down 250.

  77. JakeGint says:

I’m confused. Is the small rat or the coffee can made of sugary oatmeal?

You shouldn’t be confused. The sentence is structured properly.

    _________

Fly — if that’s not you doing Palin I apologize. That’s just the second time I’ve seen a Palin comment in close proximity to yours.

    ______

  78. The Fly says:

Look at the bright side, the gop will now throw the evangelicals to the wayside and retake power in 2012, due to a full fledged demo collapse.

  79. The Fly says:

Now if we can only convince those idiots to vote for a Mormon.

  80. JakeGint says:

As I said, I don’t care what you think about Palin. If you believe that bullshit about her thinking Africa is a country, you’re “over credulous.”

FWIW, I didn’t like McCain, personally.

It doesn’t matter, he won in my state, and lost in yours. Wouldn’t have mattered who we liked.
    ___________

  81. The Fly says:

I think I might cover my shorts in the am.

  82. JakeGint says:

The GOP will not win w. out the evangelical vote.

    Ever.

Clue in, they are 40% of the populace. Not in Staten Island, perhaps, but every fucking else where.

    _______

  83. JakeGint says:

Now if we can only convince those idiots to vote for a Mormon

Huckabee must die, first. He’s the reason Mitt wasn’t the guy.

    ___________

I think I might cover my shorts in the am.

    Good idea.

    _____

  84. The Fly says:

    Jake:

The the GOP will cease to exist. A new party will emerge. The days of the evangelical are over.

  85. JakeGint says:

    Funny, sure.

    True? Not likely.

    __________

One revenge, those RINO aides will be looking for work for a long time.

Ever notice? We never win w. a RINO?

    ______

  86. JakeGint says:

    Fly,

Clue in. No conservative party will ever win without the evangelical vote. I don’t care what you call it.

There aren’t enough libertarian types like us. The U.S. is mostly commie or evangelical.

I’m not joking. You need to get out off the Island every once in a while.

Like, visit another borough or something.

    ________

  87. The Fly says:

    What RINO?

    She did all this stuff.

The magazine also claimed that Mrs Palin used low ranking staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards, and that up to $40,000 was spent on clothes for her husband Todd.

    Todd is a fucking dogsledder.

  88. The Fly says:

I visit Queens and The Bronx often. No evangelicals there either.

  89. The Fly says:

There are plenty of people aside from Evangelicals. Those fuckers will vote GOP anyway. They need to refocus their efforts on winning locally, Congressional and U.S. Senate Seats.

  90. JakeGint says:

    From the Volohk’s –

Rep. Flake’s Way Out of the Wilderness: Representative Jeff Flake (R-AZ) lays out an agenda for House Republicans seeking direction after yesterday’s defeats:

“I suggest that we return to first principles. At the top of that list has to be a recommitment to limited government. After eight years of profligate spending and soaring deficits, voters can be forgiven for not knowing that limited government has long been the first article of faith for Republicans.

Of course, it’s not the level of spending that gets the most attention; it’s the manner in which the spending is allocated. The proliferation of earmarks is largely a product of the Gingrich-DeLay years, and it’s no surprise that some of the most ardent practitioners were earmarked by the voters for retirement yesterday. Few Americans will take seriously Republican speeches on limited government if we Republicans can’t wean ourselves from this insidious practice. But if we can go clean, it will offer a stark contrast to the Democrats, who, after two years in training, already have their own earmark favor factory running at full tilt.

Second, we need to recommit to our belief in economic freedom. Adam Smith’s “The Wealth of Nations” may be on the discount rack this year, but the free market is still the most efficient means to allocate capital and human resources in an economy, and Americans know it. Now that we’ve inserted government deeply into the private sector by bailing out banks and businesses, the temptation will be for government to overstay its welcome and force the distribution of resources to serve political ends. Substituting political for economic incentives is not the recipe for economic recovery. . . .

There are, of course, other pillars of the Republican standard — strong national defense, support for traditional values and the Second Amendment — but these are not areas where voters question Republican bona fides. In any event, as we have seen over the past several months, economic woes tend to subsume other concerns. We shouldn’t complain. We can now play our strongest hand.”

I suspect Rep. Flake’s principled, forward-looking, and surprisingly optimistic outlook would appeal to libertarian-leaning Republicans.

    ___

  91. gwar says:

Romney is the man. We utahns love him. It’s tough to get votes as a Mormon for sure

  92. JakeGint says:

I visit Queens and The Bronx often. No evangelicals there either.

    But many, many commies.

    _________

  93. JakeGint says:

    Gwar, it’s not tough.

It’s only tough when a weasel fucktard like Huckabee uses his bullshit tax & preach prejudices to skew the crowd toward a bullshit aging RINO instead of the party’s best candidate.

Forget about Hussein Obama being the Manchurian Candidate, fucking Huckabee is Iago.

    _________

  94. Thunderpup says:

Put Flake in charge of the GOP - now.

  95. JakeGint says:

There are plenty of people aside from Evangelicals.

Sure, and they vote BA Barakas.

Those fuckers will vote GOP anyway.

Not if the GOP runs a RINO. Get it?

They need to refocus their efforts on winning locally, Congressional and U.S. Senate Seats.

Yeah, like in your neck of the woods, where, if I’m not mistaken, we just lost the last GOP’er.

    ___

  96. gwar says:

thanks for saying that. Glad to know that you think otherwise

  97. JakeGint says:

Yeah, Mitt was my guy. I’ve a group of friends that used to work for him, and they literally worship him. Says a lot, as they are all irreverant smart asses.

I could’ve killed Huckabee. Worst of all worlds — a tax increasing evangelical asshat.

    ________

  98. Goldie says:

    Jake,
Most Americans are closer in the middle on most issues not to the extreme right or left. Republicans won the last two elections by dividing the country and lost this one simply because America realized it does not want to be divided by politics. Kill your television because tv exploit our differences because they thrive on controversy. I personally hate all this Left-Right bullshit. Bottom line is we are all Americans and we all want the same things for our children.

  99. The Fly says:

How about New England, where the last gop congressman was voted out?

You don’t seem to get it. The party has lost touch with its people. It is appealing to the wrong type.

Now, you can argue that everyone from Staten Island, which is 70% GOP (the only GOP borough in NYC) are commies. However, a Presidential candidate and its party must relate to all types of people, regardless of background.

There is no reason why a GOP candidate can’t take NY or CA; and I’m serious about that. They have just been going about it the wrong way and running imbeciles to boot.

  100. Thunderpup says:

I’ll bite - what kind of candidate could take CA or NY that’s not a RINO?

  101. Employee8 says:

Fly is right …. their strategists are so worried about their base (KKK, Rednecks, Evangelicals) that they bend over and take one for the team with picks like Palin … you can fuck the lefties but ya can’t screw with the moderates. The GOP screwed the moderates once too many times and had to revert to vote fixing, court room showdowns and politics of fear to win the last two elections … fool me once blah blah blah … we got even!

The GOP needs to reform just as the dems were outta touch and had to rework their platform ….

  102. Obama in the hood says:

In a show of unity, we shall embrace change and the Fly shall be referred to as Fly-Diddy.

  103. Employee8 says:

I voted for Romney here in MA for governor … it’s the man, not the party. Had McCain or his handlers had the testicular fortitude to pick Romney, even my retired mom in FL would have voted for McCain/Romney.

  104. Scully says:

    Jake,

Axelrod would have crushed anybody except maybe Colin Powell. Him too probably…and his crazy wife. Romney would have lost the idiot theo-con vote…and he wouldn’t have picked a moron like Palin. He would have been destroyed for his Mass. Gov./Mormon hypocrisy and car salesman-like slick corporate qualities.

Realize, the Rovian marriage of convenience between theo-cons and corporate cons has come to an end, as each side realizes their objectives are utterly and completely opposed.

My feeling is the GOP has bowed too far to the idiots. This is true in politics, TV ‘journalism’ (mostly FOX), and just about everything else. It sucks.

The Corporate Cons joined Clinton during the bull market 90’s and are the main reason no credible Republicans ran in the ‘96 primaries (they knew the masters of the corporate media liked Clinton’s economic success just fine, and all the scandal and sensationalism would be relegated to sideshow status).

Those same Corporate Cons, realizing that the GOP is down for a decade+, can be turned and will probably not even need to be induced. They will choose Democrats to run for the House and Senate and those Democrats will want to cut taxes on the upper 1%. This will probably start next year and come to fruition in time for the 2010 congressional primaries.

Me, I just trade. Poorly today.

  105. Thunderpup says:

Romney should have been at the head of the ticket, but there’s no way he’d take CA or NY, though he might have won the election.

  106. JakeGint says:

You see Fly? E8, the long time lib Dem, is on your side on this one. How could you be wrong?

Listen to E8’s logic: “The GOP screwed the moderates by running John McCain, the most milquetoast candidate since Gerald Ford.”

You have to admit, wise men like E8 make a lot more sense than me, or Rush.

    ____

  107. Employee8 says:

Yer fucked …. told you plenty I’m an independent … voted republican much more than democratic despite being domiciled here in MA since my college days.

I said I’d have voted if the VP was Romney rather than Palin … sure you didn’t get those speed reading skills from some PS## in NYC?

  108. JakeGint says:

Scully, not sure I get what you are saying. Clinton did not have economic success in 1996. He got it afterwards, in his second term, after he signed the cap gains tax cut. We lost in 1996 because we ran a RINO. We always lose when we run RINOs.

    ___

  109. Employee8 says:

would have voted McCain but for Palin though after some of his gaffes … my fellow prisoners, I agree with Obama re PA, etc I know I voted for the right guy.

  110. JakeGint says:

Romney should have been top of the ticket. We lost when McCain got the nom. End of story.

  111. Thunderpup says:

Ergo, Huckabee is responsible for Obama.

  112. Employee8 says:

Most agree that once Clinton found how bad things were post Bush and having to deal with a republican majority that he had to move to the middle to succeed …. Obama may turn out to be another Clinton on the basis that he will need to temper the dem majority from passing their own programs and affectively cock blocking him from his own agenda. Hence his selection for chief of staff.

Agree re top of ticket ….

  113. DPeezy says:

  114. Employee8 says:

  116. Scully says:

    Jake,

    Actually,

    Dow: 10/1994 = 3800
    Dow: 10/1996 = 6500

    Ergo, I reiterate:

With tough DitkaBall-busting MFs like Rahm Emanuel and Axelrod already on board with The One and maybe figureheads like Gen. Powell/Gen. Clark or Gen. ??? plus Sen. Chuck Hagel etc……look to 2014 as the next potential GOP wave. And, that will be a Bloomberg type GOP wave.

  117. Thunderpup says:

And, that will be a Bloomberg type GOP wave.

You blew apart your whole argument right there.

  118. Bob Dol says:

  121. Scully says:

    T-Pup

My argument is interlinked and irrefutable. See, et al Tuesday’s vote/trending demographics/mobility/socio-economic/immigration trends.

BTW, I don’t mean Mayor Bloomberg literally…but a more 2014 moderate GOP that re-embraces a more ‘traditional’ retro conservatism. Theo-cons/Rovian/Moral Majority Theory is marginalized for a decade…maybe even dinosaurs. Count on it. And, better yet, make money on it.

This is an obvious point that I can explain only so many ways. I give up.

  122. j says:

I’m not joking. You need to get out off the Island every once in a while.

Why, Jake. Why the hell would he wanna get off visit other boroughs. Perhaps the LIE on the way to the top, but that’s about it.

    The Fly Says:

I visit Queens and The Bronx often. No evangelicals there either.

Show some fucking self respect fly. There’s absolutely no reason to ever go into those god forsaken places.

  123. j says:

    Exactly.

  124. omfgitsjd says:

This obama requirement for middle school and high school children to work for the government for free for 50 hrs each year is obominable.

If some human waste went face to face with me and told me his plans were to work my daughter for 50 hrs for free I’d be tempted to point out that his head CAN fit in his ass with a little community service from me instead.

  125. When one finds effective, true love, truth and wisdom, then one recognises with astonishment, that in all their essence and forms they are very simple.

Nevertheless, directly because of this simplicity, the human does not want to know anything about them nor about all their meaning and value, because, what is simple, so he thinks, is worth nothing, is of no significance and is not precious.

True love, truth and wisdom, so he believes, are only valuable when a high price must be paid in order to acquire them and when they cannot be grasped nor understood even in their fundamentals, and are complicated.

And if it is brought home to him - the human - that true love, truth and wisdom, as the most precious of all goods, are free, and can be obtained simply through the power of clear and reasonable thinking, then he wonders and asks, how come everything can be obtained in such a simple way, since the teaching of religions, philosophies and diverse ideologies would indeed show that everything is quite unfathomable and, in its deepest sense, inexplicable.

And the human is so strongly imprisoned and deeply rooted in this erroneous delusion that he rejects the simplicity of true love, truth and wisdom from the start without conceding it even a tiny chance of the still existing possibility.

And it is this delusion which also bears the blame for the human seeking the preciousness of true love, truth and wisdom in completely abstruse, complicated and involved things which are completely foreign to the objects of the search and which lead to error and confusion.

And in this delusion he is moved in his belief and in the false love, truth and wisdom which are conjured up for him by the false, erroneous and confused teachings.

So the human loses himself in confused, worthless things which are brought to him and are hammered in by the religions, philosophies and other ideologies and which make his head so full that he is no longer able to distinguish between reality and that which is imaginary.

Nevertheless, however, the humans fill themselves with false joy, even when they only understand very little, or not the slightest, of the entire erroneous and confused teaching since that which is brought to them is extremely confusing, contradicts itself, is illogical and without content.

But, nonetheless, the humans believe that the erroneous and confused teachings which are made accessible to them are still “rich, profound, powerful and instructive words†from which true love, truth and wisdom come forth which simply can be appropriated without having to be intensively learnt and without having to change their attitude and world of thoughts.

The erroneous and confused teaching in which the human loses himself, and which he can never fathom in its real content, causes him to believe everything is simply given, sent and laid in his lap by a divinity or other higher power, consequently that he simply needs to effortlessly accept these gifts in order to come to know real, true love, truth and wisdom.

But the reality, that everything must be worked out consciously and through learning, is lost in the current of ignorance, as is also the fact that true love, truth and wisdom are easy and simple to obtain and without high material values, respectively, without money, and so forth, if they are really and consciously sought for and the step of learning is taken.

Ultimately, everything is anchored, first and foremost, in the innermost, creational being as an indestructible good, and, in this, in the deepest foundation of the consciousness, this fact is also consciously and constantly extant. Only due to the obstinacy of the human does this fact appear to be too cheap to give it heed, to accept it and to make it useful.

Rather, the human tends to seek his wellbeing and salvation in erroneous and confused teaching of often extremely banal and un-understandable form because he also imagines, on the other hand, to thereby know more and be more important and respectable in comparison to others.

That is easier than seeking the true values and putting them into practice.

But it is also easy to know something about love, truth and wisdom, yet for uncommonly many humans it is extremely difficult to make these values a component of their personality and their lives because they turn away from this and refuse to live these values.

However, it is not simply done by having a certain knowledge in regard to true love, truth and wisdom, rather the human must possess these profound values and therefore be able to call them his own and he must experience, live and fulfill these, because only this way can they be actualised through the personality and through life.

  129. Mr Market says:

Rookie…sorry…only solid indicator you can rely on in here is “the DEVILDOG signal”. You want to start going long when DEVILDOG starts talking about his bountiful gains and his wife’s bouncy 34D’s in the Viper. It makes trading reversals almost a no-brainer.

  130. IRS Admin says:

Anyone caught using the “DEVILDOG signal”, aka IRS Rule 34D, will be subject to penalties equivalent to insider trading.

  131. MarketRaider says:

So the question is if the job numbers come in dismal do we rally or crash? Everyone thinks crash but reading the headlines the market might be hoping for bad numbers since it looks like it wants wants another rate cut. But of course rate cuts have done nothing but crash the markets more so in summation who the fuck knows.

  132. T MOE says:

I think the market expects a weak number and that a weak number is somewhat priced in, but a really weak number and we could test the lows. The S&P has dropped 10% in two days, which is pretty far, pretty fast there could be a small rally on shorts taking some profits. But the rally is short lived. We are headed lower until we see a turnaround in jobs and housing. Then again maybe at BHO’s press conference today he will pull out a magic wand and cause the market to get a late day rally. He may ask Buffet to come out and say he is buying again

  133. BOOMER says:

    2) they are moving left in a convoy, if under 35 yrs old
    3) under 25s reject the conservatism of their parents (we are talking about a woodstock-like movement)
    4) the GOP has no chance to win this new demographic.
    5) james dobson is irrelevant to these people, in fact they (we) mock him and his ilk

The root of it? these christians have a bigger world view, and see their Gospel-calling differently - caring for poor, stewarding the environment, dismantling unrighteous power structures, social justice. these kids will NEVER go back to the GOP. Done.

here’s a scary one: america is a secondary issue to them. god’s kingdom, the teachings of jesus, etc are priority one. it is very much a new testament church movement. truly radical and truly spiritual. there is an underground movement that the media doesnt see, let alone cover. even the mainstream church is missing it.

by the way, organized cristian denominations are dying as well. the kids wont go, give, or listen.

your kids are likely being influenced by this as you read this at work.

    jesus wins. again.

I’m glad to see futures staying up so there is no gap down on the open that has to be filled later. We are going down and will have new lows next week. Staying SHORT until my target is hit late next week. Peace to you. Violent death and hell to 1%ers.

  146. Scully, all due respect but…

Recall, Gingich’s GOP Revolution swept through in 1994 after Clinton tried to go hard left in 93-94 (including raising taxes and trying to install national health care– sound familiar?). They immediately began getting the budget in order and got to work on bringing the country back from the Hillary euphoria.

As a result, the GOP made a miscalculation and thought they had the Presidency in the bag. They let the nomination go to the “next in line” — the aging war here RINO Dole (sound familiar?). No harm, no foul, however as we still had the Congress and kept hold of it whilst forcing the Big He to sign welfare reform and capital gains tax cuts. Result — positive economy.

I’m at a loss here. You think the farthest Left Congress and President in our history are going to cut taxes to the top 1%? From your mouth to God’s ears, but I think we’ll see hippies sprout wings, first.

I think you misunderestimate the power of Waxman revulsion reflux for the average American. A little bit of socialism goes a long way, as we saw with Jimmy Carter, and will see again with this new asshat.

  147. King Cole says:

Why don’t we limit government by slashing “defense” spending by 90%?

That would sure mess up your IDF, Jake.

  148. Boomer — again, all due respect to my fellow Yankee transplant, but –

Being a Catholic outsider down here, I get to see the BAC’s in action as well. I would state, simply, that you are overstating. All youth movements and all youth “rebel against their parents,” and this one will be no more different in returning to traditional roots once they get a little older and have a couple of kids under their belts. The Bible doesn’t change much, and abortion and sexual license are never going to be “okay” no matter how “rebellious” the kids get.

Protestanism is the same as it ever was — a splinter movement/religion that continues to spinter. This only means that they will continue to reject anyone who achieves “poobah” status like Dobson or Graham or Falwell or any media generated “head.” What the MSM, in their atheism, do not realize, is that the BAC’s are ALL different, and not monolithic in the least, save for their beliefs in traditional values embedded in Christianity for 2000 years.

They will only abandon the GOP if the GOP continues down the sham road of false conservatism while bankrupting the country. IOW — for the same reasons that most people will abandon the GOP.

    _______

  149. King Cole,

Because the only legitimate function of government is national defense and establishing a rule of law for free commerce.

But I’ll make you a deal. You cut everything else 90% first, and then we’ll do the same for defense. Since the country will be so freaking wealthy that even the homeless will be able to hire out private Ethiopian bodyguards (complete with scimitars), national defense won’t be as necessary.
