Fly’s Blood Test Update

Stuff like this only happens to me. It is the only way I am able to bank so much coin in the market: egregious things must happen to me in real life, effectively balancing out the ying to my yang.

The blood work, that almost killed me, must be done again, due to “an inadequate barrier between the red cells and serum, Optimum barrier formation requires inversion of the barrier tube 5 times immediately after blood is drawn. Clotting in a vertical position for 30 minutes. Centrifugation for 15 minutes.”

In other words, these morons who nearly merc’d me with their needles likely threw my tube of blood on their desk for an hour, while they ordered chinese food or something.

Over my dead body, will I take another blood test.

Developing…

I’m telling you – good help is impossible to find these days. This country is populated by left thumbed monkeys with marbles rattling in their empty skulls.

I went to my doctor today and had my blood pressure measured. For the first time, it hit 140. Should I be afraid?

Fucker, get it done. High blood pressure is not to be screwed with.

You want to be a drooly half corpse at 35 because you stroked out on a bad market day?

I had a boss at Morgan Stanley — rich as Croesus, this fucker — stroked out at 39. Recovered, but never the same.

You do not want that shit.

    Look at the upside.

Should I stroke out, my IQ might drop to 120 or 115, effectively letting you gay chimps get on an even playing field with me.

Hey the best thing for blood pressure is exercise. If you have sys 140 + and dys 90+ you need to go see a doctor. That is stage one hypertension. If you want to look at yourself in the mirror with half of your face sagging and drool everyday be my guest. Otherwise get your fat fucks off the computer chairs and workout for a little. Fly I miss it when you don’t curse. A part of me feels empty inside. I want you to fill it…

I can’t recall the bottom number. But, this has never happened to me. I’ve been having a lot of issues outside the trading world that has been giving me a lot of stress this week. I’m a bit worried because my father has all kinds of problems and he probably generously past it to me.

My doctor told me I’m young, healthy, and to just exercise, and that kindah irritated me because I felt like he wasn’t giving me a good game plan. Anyway, I hope its a mental thing, plus I ate a lot of salty food before the checkup. Has anyone else had a high reading due to stress/anxiety/panic?

But yeah, get your checkups regularly! A minute with the white-glove is a small price for good health.

Got my blood drawn once; next day I get a frantic call, saying that I have an emergency case of ‘too much Potassium’. So I go in again, and get stabbed once again; come back all clean.

Turns out, the leading cause of too much Potassium is incorrectly drawn blood. What a bunch of fucking imbeciles.

Never cheap out when it comes to your health, its a long term investment. To get your bp lower change your diet, lower sodium content etc… and get some exercise. Ideally you want it at 120/80. I went to the hospital yesterday for a dislocated shoulder, my bp reading at the time was 210/108 due to the pain, I almost passed out.

  22. Blood Pressure Advice
    Blood Pressure Advice

As mentioned the last time Fly brought this up, you really need to own a blood pressure monitor and use it regularly, say once a week as part of your routine. One high or low reading in a doctor’s office doesn’t mean a thing. And a high reading due to temporary stress or diet issues isn’t a death sentence. It’s like your trading results, you need to look at the numbers over time, not the drawdowns or the big wins.

If you have consistently high readings when relaxed at home, you need to change your diet, start exercising, and deal with psychological issues. Only after you’ve tried your best should you visit the “pill man”, in case of genetic issues, or if you’re a big pussy who can’t handle a few minutes on a treadmill.

If you want to try a “fun experiment”, eliminate all added salt from your diet for 30 days. Don’t eat any packaged or pre-prepared food. Grill some chicken on a George Foreman grill with herbs, steam some veggies, etc. You get used to it after a while. Then, after 30 days, try a can of soup or a meal at a restaurant. It’ll taste like battery acid because of all the goddamn salt, and you’ll wonder how people can even put that crap in their mouths.

Strange though… why is everyone ending up at the hospital, or doctors this week? Cuervoslough, we need a correlation coefficient for “market volatility” versus “trader health”.

    Gio,

Even though your doctor “irritated you” it sounds like he was spot on. Why get into a game plan scenario when it probably is as simple as that (getting more exercise). The LAST thing you want is a doctor that has a prescription for everything. Also, having your blood pressure taken in a clinic setting is notoriously inaccurate. It is called “white coat syndrome” which can yield unusual readings due to stress incurred while in the office. Get your own cuff and have a friend or loved one take it when you are chilling out. It removes the anxiety factor for the most part. If it is still high then do something about it (i.e. exercise and a REASONABLE diet alteration…limit sodium but you don’t have to go crazy)

Disclaimer- I am not a doctor, although at the risk of sounding arrogant, I am probably more intelligent than most of them. True story.

Don’t be a woos (sic?). I once had to go back three times and take a blood test because they said their calibration or some crap was off on the machine. Then they had the balls to bill my insurance carrier three times. I fixed that deal real quick.

The likely problem is your blood is made up of approximately 63.8% Monster Energy Soda. This can cause serious fluctuations in Doctor readings.

Fly, if this doctor’s office doesn’t give you good service, please find another doctor and definitely get all the tests you need. It’s really important to take care of yourself, trading is such a high stress occupation.

I’ve lost way too many people close to me because they didn’t take good care of themselves or took too many risks, thinking it would never happen to them. It sucks to be one of the last ones standing without them. Yeah, people can have strokes when they’re young, I know some who did. Your body is telling you something with this high blood pressure stuff, listen to it. End of lecture, sorry, it just makes me sad.
