“Now let me point out that the extreme stress in the financial sector is most likely going to require the Fed to continue cutting just like Japan did. However they can’t do it as long as oil is at $145 a barrel.
I expect a lot of pressure to be put on oil in the coming weeks to allow the Fed to continue cutting to save their banking buddies. I wouldn’t even be surprised to see Congress pass whatever laws are required to drain a significant amount of liquidity from the oil markets.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if this happens right as oil corrects naturally. The outcome would be to drive oil much lower than the fundamentals call for.
Do you see how we could already be setting up the next rally in oil?
The reason oil rallied so much during this leg is because of the suppression in ’06 to allow the Fed to stop hiking rates. I think the powers that be are going to set up the same mistake all over again.”
