The candidates that will replace Gunners are being sorted through, “as we speak.” Last minute applicants will be denied, unless of course you know “The Fly” personally.
The elections will be set for May 6th, 2008—the same day the retards go vote for Obama or Clinton in Indiana.
Until then, I expect there will be some “campaigning” in the Peanut Gallery.
Remember, it is a one day poll, scheduled for May 6th, that will determine who will join the Godly folks over at iBC—tab, revenue split and all.

Dawg — the Giants will take Phillips, if he is available. Desperate for safety help, and all the decent CB’s (their other need) will be gone.
Fly say’s he’s a Titans fan. They need CB’s too, now that Pacman is gone.
There’s going to be a record amount of defensive linemen taken in the top 20. Especially if you count the Vikings 1st rounder trade for Allen as a “pick” Who takes McFadden? Raiders?
Titans take Mike Jenkins if he’s there, but I think Titans could take a WR to give Young a weapon. Sweed? Jackson? Kelly?

Fly did you sell out of all of your inverse shorts? What about covering your DECK?
I am going to start printing T-Shirts that say “I love recessions” because this has been quite fun during the 2008 recession. It was a fun time really, many of my employees got fired and fat was trimmed everywhere. That atleast made things exciting. We should have one of these every year around this time so we can trim fat. Did anyone else like the recession/depression? The only thing I didn’t like were the soup lines at Panera Bread, it sucks waiting in lines.
Drafter —
I think this 6’6″ kid Harden out of IU could be intriguing for the Giants at #31. Replace the aging Plastico at some point.
I am dumbfounded that these ESPN tools are going crazy over this mediocre Ryan kid out of BC. WTF is wrong with these idiots? How many loser white boys are you gonna back as a top 5 QB before you freaking learn.
The only lock of this draft aside from Jake Long (already picked #1) is Vernon Ghoulston. If he doesn’t go #4 to the Raiders, he can officially be labelled a “Steal.”
I told my Jet fan roommates that if the Jests take Ryan or McFadden over Ghoulston (should they all be available at #6), they will remember — and regret — this draft for the rest of their days.
ben bernanke is an ass hat just thought i’d mention that
It’s all about the dollar at this point. I don’t know why I lost that discipline. Gary’s thinking the index gets back to 75, but I’m not sure it gets that far. 73.5 looks more “safe.”
Whichever, when that index turns down again, prepare to roast sirloin.

In the event of a tie vote, do the Super Delegates get to pick Gunners II?

http://www.futures.tradingcharts.com/chart/US/M
Jake,
after looking at the above charts, i think 75-80 is a reasonable first target. tell me what you think.
Chivas, from those charts, those targets certainly look possible. I’m just not sure where the catalyst comes from. A cut in the Euro rates? That would be suicidal on their part. The Japanese have nowhere to go, outside just printing. The Chinese have definitely decoupled (not sure if they are included in the index?).
Did you read Maulden this week about “Money of zero maturity” — or raw cash in hand, money markets or banks, growing at some 18% this year?
______________
Are you happy with Jake Long, btw? I think he’s a solid pick.
I have been following GLW for twelve years. It seems to be poised…..again…
Holy shit, I cannot believe the inanity of the first three picks after Jake Long here…
1) Howie Long’s son — almost “enough said.” Did he do anything except share DNA with Dad and getn some sacks just this year? He plays for phaggy Virginia for goodness sakes– they play DUKE! Watch him get tossed about in the Big Leagues. Bustorama on the come.
2) Matt Ryan. I cannot say how much of a bust this kid is going to be. See “Smith, Alex” in San Francisco. The hype on this interception machine has also been insane. It’s like “the Emporer’s New Clothes.”
3) Darren McFadden. Okay, this kid’s got wheels and promise. But do the Raidhuhs really need an RB above almost every defensive position on the board?
You gotta be joking me… Vernon Ghoulston, Sedrick Ellis and (boggle!) Glenn Dorsey are still on the board!
This is insane!
Thanks to the massive stupidity of the Rams/Falcons/Raiduhs, the Chiefs just got perhaps the best player in the draft.
I say perhaps only because I think Vernon Ghoulston might turn out to be better if he gets his head straight and Jake Long is in a wholly different position which might prove equally valuable.

Now, let’s see if the Jets shit the bed here, or smarten up and pick Ghoulsten.
The Pats are smiling at the stupidity of their competitors.
The Jets get Ghoulston!!
The Jets get Ghoulston!!
The Jets get Ghoulston!!
Thaaaaaaa Jets get Ghoulston!!
The best pick they’ve made since Broadway Joe!!
Gawd, I hate the Pats, but they are smart. They wanted Ghoulston, they did not get him, so they traded away the chance to take Ellis.
Why? Because they know he sucks. This is why they’ve been in the Superbowl so many times in the past decade. Whip smart personnel people.
Another extremely questionable pick here at #13 with Carolina taking the injury prone Stewart. If you needed an RB, Carolina, you should’ve taken Rashad Mendenhall out of Illinois.
Holy crap, KC, da Chiefs are having an excellent first round here.
First Dorsey, arguably (with Ghoulston) the best defensive player in the draft, and now they just picked Brandon Albert, hands down the best guard on the board.
You may have to get your season tix back!
Jake,
if this turns out to be just a rally in bear mkt because of an oversold condition and one way sentiment, then imo a catalyst is not really necessary. however, if it turns to be a significant low, then that’s another story. so many things impact currencies, like interest rate differentials and trend of those differentials, balance of payments, balance of trade, political stability, real gdp growth and trend of growth and differentials, fear factors and probably a bunch of other things i left out.
i would not venture to guess as to what of these things is important or dominant at the present, if any.
i enjoy reading john maulding. one of the reasons i have been bullish is mzm and m2 growth along with bank credit until recently. i found very interesting his chart on money velocity.
i liked the dolphins first pick. have been a fan of parcells for a long time.
Chivas, I don’t see how the increase in money supply is going to help the dollar climb back all the way to 80. I will respect the rebound trade, however, after the last few weeks…

Ravens just made a disasterous reach taking Flacco with the eighteenth pick. He is the LEAST ready of all the QB’s in contention to play in the NFL.
I swear, sometimes I marvel that these people are paid to do this stuff for a living.
Jake,
when i said bullish and money supply, i was talking about the stk mkt.
Chivas,
Well short term, yeah, the money’s gotta go somewhere, but it’s a musical chairs game, as most of it’s going to the commodity inflation we’re seeing. How long are you willing to buy into that?
__________
Shit! The Crackboys just took Felix Jones. He’s going to be good, dammit.
I think the Giants are definitely going WR here, if these guys are stll available:
Devin Thomas (no brainer)
Malcolm Kelly (#2 best WR, imho)
Limas Sweed (nice size)
James Hardy (very nice size, huge, in fact)
The one caveat is Kenny Phillips out of Miami is still on the board, and the Giants do need safety help.
However, these jooozy WR’s may be too much to pass up.
I love seeing the Packers
Key Loses: Brett Favre
Key Additions: NONE!
This has been the most boring draft for me, because I’m a Vikings fan… loved us getting David Allen, but YAWN!
Could there be any more linemen selected in the first round?
And why they have the draft so late this year?
WTF… the Titans got ANOTHER running back this year 1st round? Guess Chris Brown and L White and Henry aren’t enough? No Jenkins?
Devin Thomas good pick
Lots of WRs still available. I wouldn’t mind if the Vikings grabbed one if they fall. Sweed, Jackson, Kelly… they got Berrian this offseason so it might not be a need.
or a DE like Merling/Campbell/Groves for depth/replacement for the opposie side of David Allen, or an OT like
Or Lofton
Or a QB like Brohm
CB Tracy Porter?
lots of options
I wouldn’t mind an eventual replacement for Sharper either… Tyrell Johnson…
I’m thinking they go Best player available
update Lofton gone, tracy porter gone
If the Vikes get Brohm, that would be huge for them.
They could be in contention this year.
Giants went with Phillips, who, like Jake Long for Miami, was the “safe pick.”
Chivas and Jake:
Thanks for the references to John Mauldin. (http://www.2000wave.com/index.asp)
His was a new name to me. I read his last 5 letters and signed up for email. That guy has his head screwed on very tightly.
Buffalo having a very good draft with Leodis McKelvin in the first and now the big sonofabiatch WR out of Indiana, James Hardy in the second.
Zen — now you know why I’ve been so bearish the last couple of months… lol.
Both the Vikes and the Bears passed on a QB (either Brohm or Henning out of Michigan). I cannot believe they feel good about the crap they holding right now. I’d be in despair if I were their fans.
Childress is crap, we certainly didn’t need to trade up, but I don’t mind the pick it’s just the fact that there was a lot of talent available, and someone good was certainly going to fall to us had we just stayed put.
NFC north is a joke, Vikings still are in playoff contention for sure.
wow… Washington has got some serious offensive playmakers in this draft.
Brohm taken by the Pack. They must’ve been besides themselves that their too perrenial loser division mates had let him pass by.
More misery for Minnesota and Chicago (not to mention the completely hapless Detroit) to come.
So sorry.
Meanwhile, Chad Henne goes in the very next pick to Miami, which means that Tuna was looking for Brohm as well.
You snooze, you lose, Tuna. Enjoy your injury risk, speed challenged defensive end from Clemson.
This is the Raptor speaking:
I’m not running for this office, sorry.
Have a pleasant evening.
