The fail to mention that a) he’s not in Uganda anymore, b) a lot of those facts are exaggerated to make a point, and c) using a corrupt military to do their bidding would likely lead to more trouble.
This whole movement was started by a bunch of self-centered facebookers.
Not only is he not in Uganda, but apparently he’s been on the run for over 5 years. All the while people in Syria continue to be bombed by someone who is still in power.
The organization, by all reports, is pretty freaking shady. Maybe they are legit and money donated will be spent appropriately, but they definitely didn’t get their own house in order before going on this media blitz campaign. Apparently becoming a fully documented charity is still a “work in progress.” The pictures of them holding machine guns and rocket launchers, in front of African soldiers, while dressed in full hipster uniform wasn’t too flattering either.
Also, apparently the people of Africa who are involved in trying to fix this problem don’t take too kindly to white westerner’s who feel it is their duty to throw money at a problem that requires the joint effort of multiple sovereign nations in order to solve. Surprise, surprise.
Welcome to 20 years ago. This guy has been on a murderous rampage longer than I have been alive. This is just the issue of the month, next month the mainstream will be off to caring about something else again.
