“I’m not going to say what happened because I don’t know what’s in the story” (i.e. I will continue to hold on to whatever part of this lie I can get away with).
“We reacted to what we know” (i.e. I’m going to continue to lie as much as possible and/or I’m to fucking stupid to remember).
