The Columbus Zoo did an incredible job recapturing the animals they did! This was a horrible situation.

It’s time for Ohio to begin regulating the ownership of exotic animals.

It’s time for the police to stop treating anything wild as an automatic threat to society. These Ohio police are absolute pussies for feeling so threatened by anything that moves.

I think this is a knee jerk reaction by the police and government. True, Winter may be a suffering death for some of the animals, but others would do just fine. The Zoo people could have been given more time to capture more of the ones that could not make it.

Police can be dangerous animals too. The landscape is not Disneyland, danger exists. People would be well served to be reminded of this, with the reality of a few wild “large cats” prowling around.

Those animals are no different from the actions of the government in terms of danger to the public, just more dramatic. That is the absurdity of this to me.

If a tiger et your kid, you’d likely be whistling a different tune.

In all seriousness, the asshat who let these poor creaturs out did so with 45 minutes of daylight left.

As the guy on the radio from the Columbus Zoo (can’t remember his name, but he’s been on Late Night TV a couple of times) said, “Tranquilizers don’t work in the dark, because you have to make sure the animal is down… and it’s easy to lose them in the dark.”

18 Tigers, 17 lions and I think a grizzly or two in a populated area is just too high a risk to take.

They had to do what they had to do.
