the thing with netflix is this. the service is really only good for streaming to, I would guess, alot of its customers, including me. I have little interest in mailed DVDs.

And the movie selection on the streaming service is plain bad. It can be fun to watch, say, a streaming old clint eastwood movie you wouldn’t have otherwise watched, but its basically never that you think “oh, that’d be fun to watch” and its actually on netflix. its good for TV shows, like how I’ve recently finished watching all of “buffy the vampire slayer”, which I was too busy to have time for while it was out.

But we’re talking about a 13 dollar a month service. Thats 2 drinks at a bar, thats HALF of going bowling wiht ONE kid. Thats drinking a cup of coffee instead of a red bull one day a week. Its 3 gallons of gas. Its 1/10th of the power bill. Its one hand of blackjack and about 1/100th to 1/1000th of a bachelor party trip to vegas.

Its nothing. Its still, for all its flaws, the best bargain in entertainment anywhere. Anybody who gives up the service over 5 bucks a month is ridiculous.

That noted, its still vulnerable to being harmed by competitors and on and on and on. But a $5 raise in service cost is plain irrelevant.

In the end it’s all gonna be about who’s got the best streamed content.

      Let the games begin!

And fwiw — opening the Netflix envelope is still a big hit in my family of four kids.
