Forget about of them old time companies, with boring balance sheets and conservative accounting practices. Go get yourselves a nice NASDAQ stock with ludicrous gross margins and ride that puppy all the way to Elysium. Or, if I might suggest, how about trading them for a quick 10-20% profit? Small double digit sized profits will not upset the communist sensibilities of your local magistrate and will help a great deal, with regards to feeding your family, during the next apocalypse.
Southern Gentleman Fly (SGF) sold out of his FAZ today and exchanged it for some Chinese wares: SOHU. Additionally, he took a mighty fine nap this morning, one that will help him bank even more coin tomorrow, believe it or not.
With 10 minutes left in the session, I am up about 1% today, led by gains in PWER, PH, GTE, JOSB, BBRG, SFLY and MOTR.
Back to cookin’ my afternoon kettle of buttery grits.

SOL AXL!!!!!
From Google Finance 20 min.ago
AXL – American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings, Inc. – Shares of the auto parts manufacturer shot up as much as 9.0% this afternoon to secure an intraday high of $15.25 by 3:40pm in New York trading on unconfirmed takeover chatter. Rumors that Magna International Inc. may place a $23 to $25 cash bid for AXL spurred a rally in the price of the American Axle’s shares and drove speculators to options in the name. Additionally, analysts at JPMorgan Chase & Co. reportedly rated AXL at ‘overweight’ and said shares could move into the upper-teens in the next 12-24 months. Near-term call options are far and away the most popular make and model changing hands on the stock today. Investors exchanged more than 3,500 now in-the-money calls at the January $15 strike versus previously existing open interest of 755 at that strike. It looks like more than half of these calls were purchased at an average premium of $0.36 apiece. Bullish sentiment spread to the higher January $16 strike where another 1,050 calls were picked up for an average premium of $0.13 per contract. Call buyers at this strike are prepared to make money should shares in American Axle rally another 5.8% over the current price of $15.25 to surpass the average breakeven point on the upside at $16.13 by January expiration. Notable call buying also took place at the February $16 and $17 strikes this afternoon. Options implied volatility on the auto parts maker is up 9.5% at 51.71% in the final 30 minutes of the trading session.
If the buyout is for $23 – $25 in cash then why does JPM have a one to two year price target of “upper-teens”? Will it really take that long to get a deal done and at that much of a discount?
They didn’t hear the rumor.

NC Tar Heel now, are you?
Left coast vs/ Gulf coast (Oregon v Auburn) starts in 3 hrs….. Grits Vs. Granola. Bring it on.
I am an SEC guy and SEC Dad but am cheering for the Ducks.
They have cool uniforms and besides if Auburn wins they will have to forfeit it in a year or two when the Cam Newton investigation is concluded.
I had mixed emotions about this one as well. I’m SEC through and through but absolutely HATE Auburn after all this crap. I also have liked the Ducks in the past so I was very tempted to pull for them. In the end I just watched the game and didn’t really pull for or against either one.
I do like the fact that the SEC has won 5 in a row now*. Next year, LSU’s defense will lead them to make it #6. From now on they should just hand out the Sears trophy at the conclusion of the SEC Championship game.
* For a couple of years at least until Auburn vacates their title.
For about 20 minutes this morning I was thinking there was going to be a real downdraft, but then things trended up all day. Helium market, floats up!
Busted my gut full of grits after readin them posts up above y’all!

Time to go for a drive…

Looks like new problem for JNJ & Merck – Pepcid Complete mystery recall. Every bottle of the product has been quietly removed from store shelves nationwide. This is not related to the August recall which was just for the berry flavor product…now every flavor of the product and generic version has been removed.
The company is not talking – it must be serious.
Here’s a blog that talks about it…

Flyseph- secret to good grits- Chicken stock or bouillon cubes. Don’t cook grits without them.
Secondly, everyone loves some sharp cheddar in their grits. Everyone. Well, and of course, butter. Don’t forget the butter.
Exactly right, Woodshedder. I put cheese in cream of wheat as well.
I like maple syrup and butter.
Sharp cheddar and a few raisins. But only because my mom is from Texas.
Personally,
I like my grits with lard, as I am more southern than you.
Chicken fried lard grits on cast iron cornbread. Top that.
We will know your southern conversion is complete when you are not posting on this blog during the BCS championship game when an SEC team is playing.
There’s always next year, or the year after, or the year after, or….

Just read this from Louis Navellier weekly mail, excerpt
“…Due to U.S. and global debt problems, the stock market continues to profit from the exodus out of bonds and into stocks. This week, Greece, Ireland and Portugal are scheduled to sell new government debt, so sovereign debt tensions remain high. In addition, Bulgaria, Hungary and Poland are now behaving like Argentina, trying to seize private pension funds to make up for government budget shortfalls. Hungary, in an attempt to seize $14 billion in individual retirement savings, offered its citizens the “nuclear” option of either remitting their individual retirement savings to the state or losing their right to the basic state pension (which they must still pay for). Bulgaria has come up with a similar idea in an attempt to transfer $300 million in private savings to their state pension fund. In Poland, the government has a less drastic plan to transfer 1/3 of future contributions from individual retirement accounts to their state-run social security system. Overall, these attempted government seizures in Eastern Europe look very disturbing.”
Very ‘disturbing’. Try that here…LOL
thats NOT funny, and their hinting at that here, although the peoples’ ira’s and 401’s have been raped nicely in da good ol us of a.plus the retirement age bumped up AGAIN, you say try that here,lol…..guess what, they already did.
