Despite many of you mentally ill types clamoring for “end of days,” the S&P burped during today’s session. The near term fate of the market will be decided by tomorrow’s jobs reports.
As for me, I have decided to transition over to my Social Networking thesis, in a big way. This means that any and all holdings can be sold at any moment, even now! Going with that theme, over the past two days I’ve bought shares of CTCT, RLOC, QNST and SFLY, all up more than 3% so far.
If you haven’t noticed by now, I am swing trading, almost exclusively, taking 10-20% rips per week. It’s like stealing intelligence from a southerner.
For the day, I was down 0.27%.

Fly, why did the Social Networking outweigh the others?
Because it does
thats whats on stage now, enjoy the jams
be sellin corn dogs and T-shirts at this concrt
The future is social networking! Any business that helps fat ugly chicks get fucked or act like bitches is going to do very well.
Social networking gives ugly divorced chicks hope, hope that they’ll get laid again, someday, possibly but that old flame who dumped them, when they got fat. And until that shit happens they can use the social networking to rant and rave about their X being a looooser asshole and how great their stupid fucking kids are. Welcome to the new world narcissism.
The force is strong in this one.
Wow. Some might say you got some issues to deal with.
Some issues, maybe, but undeniably some insight too.
Try this.
1) Get a FB account.
2) Wait for all your old flames to friend you, especially the ones who got rid of their sperm donor.
3) Read their posts.
4) Start puking.
Loooser !!
Well said!
yah, my breadth metrics saw advancing and declining strength evenly matched. simply a tug-of-war that led practically nowhere before employment data…
obligatory, OH NOES!!!!!
obligatory, OH NOES!!!!!
It’s always better coming from Crazy Busey, though.
________
i really miss the free market…. the daily POMO handouts are getting boring. i’m up 5% for the year. wow i am so smart. please give me more welfare ben.
I trade based on the waves in this video.
Excellent Title! Ohh the horror!
Stealing intelligence from a southerner? Maybe you need it more.
Stealing intelligence from a southerner is impossible. In many ways, and for a variety of reasons.
Wait, how is SFLY up over 3%? Based on PPT post, I would have expected less. Did you enter in the am?
you are right. I am down .9% on SFLY.
The horror! I followed a bit later in the day. Partial fill @36 even.
It’s like stealing intelligence from a southerner.
Don’t be ashamed, we’ve got plenty to spare.
‘Sides, given your current situation up there, it’s really our Christian duty to provide all we can.
_____________
Quick question for the group: What’s the only thing dumber than electing Jerry Brown governor again in the middle of a major unemployment-led recession?
A: Electing Mario Cuomo again!

Thank you for making my point, Mr. Christian duty.
Making you feel better is my Christian duty, as well.
____________
Clinton, Spitzer and Rangle, LLP. A new PR firm for Andy??? Woops, LLC, what was I thinking (insert lawyer joke…hm…somewhere)?
Agree there…New Yawkas – they deserve what they get…they think it’s Godfather II, unfortunately he’s more like Fredo – fishing anyone?
Definitely Fredo.
_______
you preferred meg? Jesus…
I’d prefer George Bush’s dog Barney over that business as usual bowl circling ex-Gubner. How many times do you people have to hit yourselves in the head w. a ball peen hammer before you realize the source of your pain, anyway?
But what’s so bad about Meg? How many billion dollar businesses did Jerry “the Union Boss’s best Pal” Brown create?
(How many did he drive out of CA?)
_______________
I just bought a ticket for a luncheon with Schwazenneggar. He’s coming to Calgary in a couple weeks!
I also bought a “Pumping Iron” poster that I hope he signs.
Hahaha. So excited!
Yes Meg– 100 times over. At least she has run a business.
lol, this mother just said “Christian Duty”.
bwahahahahahaha!!!!
but seriously, Senior LeFly…. check out the SOBX
They’re calling you ever so softly…
No doubt you’ve been on a long-thwarted search for your mother (not to mention a sense of irony).
Unfortunately, I am not she.
______________
The action in NVDA is ludicrous. NVDA is now valued at $11B and AMD is $5B where AMD does twice their annual revenue, 6x their net income, and 5x their EPS. PFFFFFFFFFFTTTTT.
If you do a search for any company having to do with “communication” and overlay average volume over 500K, was positive today, and has price over $5 you’ll see that 70% (91) of the 129 matches are within 10% of their 52wk highs. If you narrow it down with the same parameters plus filter out just the results in the technology sector, 88 of the 91 (97%) remaining stocks are within 10% of their 52wk highs!
If you remove the “communication” filter and use the same parameters for all of the Technology sector, 101 out of 283 stocks (36%) are within 10% of their 52wk highs.
That’s some serious NAZty momentum for “communication” stocks in the technology sector.
So, AMD is a buy?
People are paying up for buzz and CES related stuff. There is massive excitement for this crap, which means valuation is out the window. Think of how many restaurants you can book online, declare you’re at in Facebook, get coupons for through Google, tweet stupid pictures of your food about, and make obnoxious calls to your friends on your iPhone (now through Verizon!) during your meal.
*Correction: 62 of 91 (68%) hits in the “communication” and technology search are within 10% of their 52wk highs NOT 97% as shown before. Furthermore, it is interesting to also note that 75% (15 of 20) of stocks in the “communication” and technology search with short positions north of 10% of their float are within 10% of their 52wk highs.
**Admin: Note the Sector dropdown in the PPT changes back to “Any” after a screen is completed, making it confusing what has been screened.
so now you realize making money in the stock market has nothing to do with the techicals of a company. I ve made much money the last 20yrs buying and selling companies than have never made a penny and never will. carry on….my wayward son
How do you steal intelligence from a southerner when they have none? (chuckling “Indueed).
This passes for razor wit in the urban North?
No wonder it’s quickly becoming an industrial wasteland.
“Jesse wept.”
_______
we are all bankers up here Jake. Don’t worry, I will be moving down yonder soon to enlighten all of you rubes.
You mean except for all “those bankers” that bought all those “brilliant” NY investment banks (those that didn’t go BK, I mean) ….
“Those bankers, ” of course, being from…. North Ca’linah?
But no worries. Buffet, who saved the brilliance that was Goldman Sachs, is from Omaha, NE. While that’s still Flyover Country, it’s technically not the South.
Partial face saver!
_______
If you think you are smarter than the average southerner, you are probably wrong.
Let me play devils advocate and suggest the market finishing red is sending a message about tomorrow. I don’t think it’ll be pretty.
i dunno, the market could have continued running up today only to sell off “on the news” big tomorrow. i see today’s action as healthy digestion of the gains from yesterday and those made on the third. we haven’t had moves like that since 12/2/2010.
we shall see though… 🙂
Note to stanky:
Emoticons of happiness are always superfluous when using the Crazy Busey avatar.
__________
Seconded! I didn’t even see the smile until I read JG’s observation. I just felt like I was about to get bit by that huge silly mouth!
As long as the sun and the moon exist, stocks trade up.
Incorrecto senor. Things are getting a bit burlappy.
But in all seriousness, look at the ISE index. 50 day moving average on ‘equities only’ is higher than it was before the flash crash. This is a long-only market and their is no reason to become bearish, so naturally, I’m in SDS and TWM for a couple weeks.
Dayman, are you enemy of the “Night man”?
The jobs report probably won’t be the major mover.
Uncle Ben speaks tomorrow (I believe in front of Congress, not sure) at 10:00.
Mark my words… Ben will make the senators look like children seeking guidance from their teacher. He’s too smart for all of them. Ron Paul will look silly if he gets out of hand.
Bottom line: Don’t screw with Ben
Ron Paul is not a Senator.
But his son is now.
________
haha – my mistake, you get my point.
There is only one way to determine who is smarter between Ron Paul and Ben Bernanke… Leg Wrestle, Pie Eating contest, and speed darning. 2 out of 3 takes the title.
Ben Bernanke is Al Swearengen and Ron Paul is a drunken prospector.
Does the pope shit in the woods?
I love how it takes Gekko like 5 minutes to make a billion dollars at the end of Wall Street 2.
That’s Hollywood for ya. Making big dough is effortless… like winning lotto.
_____
You sure it wasn’t northern genius?
Technically, LA is in the South, but I will not claim it.
Maybe San Diego.
_______
I am the brains behind the operation, make no mistake.
heee haw http://bit.ly/2Lx7HX
Hey Fly, what do you think about PFBC – Pacific Bank Corp? Does this fit into your banks thesis?
Thanks for all the killer info!
75 degrees and sunny today. Young women in daisy dukes out shopping. Damn the intelligence quotient.
I haven’t seen daisy dukes since September… It’s that time of winter I guess. At least there is now a little more daylight each day.
anyone ever read the stuff from Porter Stansberry? The guy is calling for riots in the streets and mustaches getting ripped of because the dollar is doomed . . . ideas/thought?
fiction
the idea that he is dick and a charlatan is all you need to know…. Well mostly dick less charlatan
60/40…
no,
55/45.
______
Porter Stansberry is right sometimes & wrong sometimes. But either way, he likes to make a big splash and get your attention, so U will buy some newsletter of other of his. He is head of a publishing company which sells numerous newsletters, dispensing all kinds of advice, some of it contradictory of course, some of them making money for subscribers, some of them losing money for subscribers. He is a salesperson, telling whatever story he thinks will result in your buying some newsletter.
How did that fucker escape jail when so many others have been federally pajama’d?
____________
Scary stories, like Stansberry’s current one, sell really well. That’s why there people love to watch the vampires on the TeeVee.
No Jake. I was referring to the Supreme Bankers at the NY Fed. Good day.
chequemate
The NY Fed does not call the tune. They have been “mountain-oystered.”
The Ben Bernank, in DeeCee is now in charge, at least until Ryan and Paul get their whips and tongs together.
Vulcan chess, not chequers.
________

That’s me in the foreground. Le Monsieur is, appropriately, le Docteur.
________________
I don’t believe that The Bernanke is more than a well groomed puppet to Supreme Bankers. If he is truly calling the shots, he is smart enough to intentionally contradict himself every time he flaps his beard (while the hallmark of a good PR guy is in downplaying contradictions and irrational moves with earnesty and conviction). Bennyboy excels at that. He is only the face of Goldilock’s who are eating the baby bear’s dinners.
If dude were well groomed he’d stand a little closer to the razor.
But you must admit, it is always well manicured. Credit where due and all that.
A True Gentleman.
A primer for those considering a move to the Genteel Regions….
_________
Food prices are going through the roof, according to the UN.
Companies involved in the production of food are seeing a huge share price increase.
Is it too late to get aboard that train or is there some more room to grow?
Room to grow. And go plant some Saskatoon bushes in your yard or nearby park.
ANDE, MON, MOS, POT, AGU, SEED… etc, etc,
_____
No one told the baltic dry index its a bull market
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=BDIY:IND
To me “The South” is Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina.
That’s true if you cut Florida off at Gainsville…otherwise you are back in the North, the farther South you go.
I call that group of states, “The Banjo South”….squeeeeel like a pig….
Yes, I was going to add that point. If Orange trees can survive, it is not the South.
South Florida and Southwest Florida are a completely different world.
Don’t forget Titusville and KSC. Well… scratch Titusville.
Crikey, don’t get much time in Richmond, VA, do you? You could get mountain oystered for leaving the Capitol out of your survey.
With the greates politeness, of course, suuuuuh.
Also, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, and yes, even Kentucky would take great umbrage in your leaving them off this list.
What you are naming is the Cotton Belt, which is more an agricultural region than a cultural one. (and Texas and Arkie do a lot of cotton farming, fwiw.)
________
Jobs number comes in around 160k and the bears will roar for a few minutes only to be tea-bagged by the continuing bull run. I am praying for a selloff. Shorts, how does it feel to fail?
I think Ken F. Powers would know that (at least in this intransitive verb usage) “teabagged” is a good thing.
________
How does it feel to be caught long at the top?
If jobs come in stronger, we rally for 1 hour, then selloff and end +30 pts on Dow.
If jobs come in weaker, or in-line, we selloff for 2 hours, then rally and end -30 pts on Dow.
No big deal.
Might as well go back to bed then. Nothing to see here.
