if you take into consideration the last PPT overbought level occurred at 2.95;
another 300-point rise would seem unlikely.

I ran a PPT seasonality screen for the month of September.

Seriously, this is a truly bizarre and inhospitable place, and no program (i.e., “the PPT”) can predict what is going to happen.
One thing that is for sure, is that there will be a lot of blood on the highway.
Having said that, I see the Dow at 6000 +/- 4-500pts. in 4-6 months.
Things are worse than most people could possibly imagine in this beautiful country of ours, especially if they are the drones living in the insulated world of Wall Street, or even worse…….in Washington D.C.
We are a country without a leader, plain and simple.

Unless you show a time series of PPT for every single day for the 3 month period from Sept. 2008 to Nov. 2008, I do not believe that.

how about instead of calling him a bullshit liar, you consider that TNA was up 8% while VXX was only down 6%, that Fly had 65% long and you actually go back on this blog and look at his positions.
I bet if you put together a portfolio consisting of BUCY, FLS, TNA, FAS, CBL, BAC, GLW, UCO, EWZ, GMCR, TBT, ROP when Fly bought it with 10% cash 25% VXX and the rest consisting of these longs you probably couldn’t even show a loss if you tried unless you have like a $1000 account and consider cost of commissions.
I tihnk the key is that Andy is not suggesting that Fly lost but that he rather did not outperform the market. Andy, what you seem to not take into account is that The Fly had a very large position in names with beta >1, not the least of which is TNA. This fact more than compensated for the VXX holdings.

I think it would be good to not mention your personal accounts or what you are trading in them. Lends itself to confusion here and makes it appear you are playing both sides of the market.

I hate math, I had this great beta testing use of Adv-Decline Volume Osc for market turns based on the work of Terry Laundry ……I set the formula up wrong and had incorrect levels today when I was watching it. At the end of the day the figures were all correct and indicates we are still trending down but omg what a difference forgetting a couple of brackets can have on a math formula…..just fustrating…friday night and I am still pissed about it.

Fly- perhaps you want to consider adding BAB and/or BABS to your risk appetite index. I think they provide some good information about municipalities and risk. They’ve made up approximately 21% of muni issuance since April 2009 and due to their over-issuance they have an average maturity of 22.5 years, leaving them with higher duration.

Mother Market came to me in a dream and said the economic datapoints hit rock bottom in Aug. Fri will be another relief surprise – check out how low all the “concensus (I can’t think, therefore I trend) estimates” are. VXX the last couple weeks has been trying to tell you that smart guys have been exiting the whole end-is-near-especially-cuz-its-September thing. Shrinking their hedges all the way down. I think we just had September, it’s over now. Start thinkin Octoberfest it’s a timewarp.
