well I have a handle on how he comes up with the numbers….and the o/s and o/b part….but I can’t get around the day to day movement of the stock in relationship to the number….A buy, is not a buy, but maybe it is a buy….I graphed out FXP…couldn’t see a pattern with PPT numbers except one extreme to the other….I am just stuck on it….I want to add hybrid PPT scores into my analysis…but can’t seem to get my head around their movement….can anyone give me a made up example?
Yes. I can help. It’s a black box. That’s how you trade it. It’s that “simple”. You are making it much too complicated.
You learn to trade your particular with the signals of the PPT. Some tradeables are well correlated, some are not. There are many good examples in the user notes where people post trades mostly in real time. I use the hybrid score (others use it better). If you look at the TYH trades from last week, they provide a pretty good example.

I see straight t/a, news, fundie analysis in the comments so far……..OK let me give you an example…..you have Company X (not steel, just example)…..it has a total hybrid Score of 2.7 and listed as a Sell…..it’s indicated a buy in the 3.4 range and actually high of 4.2…..and a low of 1.6……………just being given this data……what do you think of the stock and would you buy it?
Yeah, I see your point. I guess it’s more a “real time” effect. I track the the hybrid along with my equity and drawdowns so I have can have a big picture record. I annotate the EOD hybrid number with any relevant info (such an intraday spike up or down), etc.
So Yogi…I know this sounds stupid, but during the day if you see the hybrid score change….do you buy it? How are you using it intraday?
Tomorrow morning we’ll get some stupid gap and suck either shorts or longs into it(probably another 200MA tease), reverse and do something completely different all on no volume.

I called the market bottom the other day. How can you say that there is no way to know when the market will rebound? I use technical indicators on breadth data.
In fact, the last two times the market wobbled like this, no one on this site seemed to be using any breadth analysis to determine what the market was doing. I called it those two times, as well.

Just work through an example and you will see.
Say the financials drop 10% in a day, so FAS loses 30%. Now, the next day, financials recover fully, a gain of 10/9=11%, which means FAS should go up 33%. But, for FAS to get to breakeven, it has to gain 10/7=43%, so it has lost money on the round trip in the index.
All that said, on a sustained move in one direction, you can be quickly and utterly fucked.

A standard divergence is when price makes a new swing low but the oscillator diverges by making a higher low. This is called a Bullish Divergence and is considered bullish by many traders.
HOWEVER …
A Reverse Divergence is when the oscillator makes a lower swing low while price makes a higher swing low. This is called a Bullish Reverse Divergence.
In my opinion, Reverse Divergence trades are more reliable than standard divergence trades because you will always be trading in the direction of the prevailing trend.
In other words, a Bullish Reverse Divergence will form in the direction of the trend while a standard bullish divergence will form against the trend in an attempt to pick a bottom.

OK….I want to get this down correct, I know it sounds like a really stupid question, but i ask those alot. For your system…..let’s say, End of Day, FXP has a Buy, then you would enter the trade the next morning or as soon as you saw the buy in after hours……then you would hold the stock until you saw a Sell come up? You would also think about buying the stock if there is an OverSold of historical levels on it too? And selling if you see an overbought?
Let’s say Stock X, not Steel, has two days of oversold, then the next day it is a sell……would you enter into the trade on that hybrid score? Or what are you thinking when you see that hybrid score?

This reminds me of the issue I have mentioned elsewhere: under my understanding, the “Buy” and “Sell” indicators on the hybrid for individual stocks can be misleading since the top and bottom of the PPT range are different for each individual stock. Based on the tutorial I watched, a given hybrid PPT score could be a buy for one stock and a sell for a different stock since it is only relitave levels withing each stock’s PPT range that really matter.
We need a GRAPH of historical PPT hybrid vs. price!
