I still think ANF and TRLG are overextended here. They’re hitting 52-wk highs and are up 60% from mid-Feb. I know retail has been on fire as of late but those two have gone parabolic. ANF isn’t very strong in April either, seasonally speaking; much weaker than its industry competitors. ARO, ANF, and TRLG are also double their historical beta right now compared with JCG, AEO, and GPS which are almost perfectly tracking their betas (COH is lagging its beta). I know sales are earnings are improving for ANF and it recently got an upgrade from a non-bulge bracket bank, but I think this technical bounce must be tempered by the trading robots in East Setauket.
Besides, cotton’s on the rise due to the USDA releasing that farmers are intending to increase acreage plantings 15% this year due to China expecting to increase imports by 36%, Pakistan by 28%, and Turkey by 21%. Allah knows you can’t wear pre-torn and pre-grassed stained jeans over those robes. I’ve also rarely seen a Chinese person wear a championship shirt of a winning sports team. It’s like they choose their clothes with sonar. No offense to the Chinese, of course.

any time i see a prediction on this site via the comments section, I remember how two out of three commenters on 4/1/09 were “predicting” an “april fools’ day massacre” after a sure-to-die two week run-up in the market. In bubbles we hear about the euphoria which drives misguided fools to lose capital. Is there a flip side to the rule of euphoria, where, in market bottoms, the bears laud their masochistic greed through excessive pessimism?
Basically who ever is winning think they know everything. Hard to believe that happens.
Lets use an example, Chipoltes (CMG) ,a maker and seller of burritos….January 2007 stock @ 60 ,then Jan ’08 stock @ 150, up 150%…Jan ’09 the burrito maker @ 40,so its down close to 75%…Now trading @ 115 April 2010…up close to 200%…I mean come on,why doesn’t any other tangible items get constantly re-valued like that???
