Outrageously Hilarious

Bravo, bravo, a job well done! I must admit, I did not expect the market to climb higher today, amidst news of horrendously poor economic policy change. Don’t get me wrong, I am not judging the Prezident or his health care initiative. Basically, I feel it is always a mistake to jack taxes higher, while trying to climb out of the deepest crevasse since The Great/Awesome Depression.

To see the market tick higher, despite the news, makes me feel all warm and cuddly inside. Because, unlike God, now I know for certain that our government overlords are watching us, ever so intently (tear drops from face).

Do not expect “The Fly” to trade in a market he does not understand. However, I will tell you, Adobe Systems Incorporated [[ADBE]] looks good here, as well as a variety of other stocks. Perhaps I need a good talking to, in order to “correct” my erred ways. But then I look up at my monitor and see, dammit, I SEE SUGAR DOWN AGAIN (crying profusely). Has the world, suddenly, decided to go on a diet and kick the ol’ diabetic lifestyle to the curb? Perhaps.

With my money, I will bore you to death, doing “The Hugh Hendry” and nibbling at [[VXX]] .

NOTICE OF INTENT: This is NOT a political statement. It is a statement about the effect policy’s of governments, our own included, affect changes in the way we view financial markets.

As to the comment inquiring the whereabouts of everyone; I have a feeling that many are sitting in their offices trying to digest the fact that a large percentage of our national economy has just been set on the road to nationalization. They are wondering how this will play out and theorizing what position they should place themselves in due to the unprecedented nature (at least in this country) of this event. And it IS an event of far reaching ramifications from both a business and economic standpoint. It is becoming crystal clear, I would think to most investors, that the market is not behaving normally or within expected parameters. The fundamental reason for this is that a new and very large player has entered the game who has the ability to seismically shift the entire playing field. That player would be our federal government.

You give the average American way too much credit. Unless this was covered on American Idol, the “many” have no fucking clue what’s going on.

What is it with you and Sugar? Not like the farmers/manufacturers aren’t getting a subsidized check anyway. You need to chill on the sugar man.

FYI.. most of the world uses sugar. It’s the US market that doesn’t so much and is all into artificial sweeteners and HFCS bullshit.

      Salty Nut Sac…

Spend some time doing DD on the commodity of sugar. It is such a shame that you refer to farmer’s as “still” getting subsidized. The once staple of a thriving nation. Now we subsidize illegals and health care. Not farmer’s.

You: FYI.. most of the world uses sugar. It’s the US market that doesn’t so much and is all into artificial sweeteners and HFCS bullshit.
Me: Ya…. that’s it. You nailed it. WTF?

SGG is one of the most volatile exchange-traded commodity products available to U.S. investors, often moving by at least 200 basis points in a single session. This fund has taken investors on a wild ride over the last several months, surging between December of 2009 and the end of January before entering into a freefall that saw 35% of value erased over six weeks.

From the looks of the futures curve for NYMEX-listed sugar futures contracts, investors think sugar still has a ways to fall before bottoming out; October contracts are trading at a 5% discount to May futures.

The comments follow similarly upbeat calls on sugar from analysts at other banks, including Barclays Capital and Goldman Sachs:

Sugar looks set to be boosted by the recovery of demand which has been sidelined by the collapse of some 40% in sugar prices since the start of February.

“Sugar mills have put off their planned purchases on the expectation that prices will erode further,” the bank said.

“But in doing so, an immense backlog in demand has been accumulated, which will become apparent as soon as the sugar price stabilizes.”

While output in India is poised to recover to 22m tonnes in 2010-11, from 16.8m-17.2m tonnes this season, according to Maharashtra sugar factories, this would “still lag far behind production volume of 28m tonnes recorded about two years ago”.

      Just some tidbits. Interesting.

Definitely a Costanza trade and SMH was showing the way early this AM as it was going up with the market in decline.
    Forget sugar and watch Splenda.
Much better for you (I think) and it’s free when you can steal it from various establishments.
I haven’t bought Splenda at the store in years and when my wife asks me what if Panera (as an example) asks me what I am doing with 50-60 packets I tell her that I will pull an Uncle Leo.
Arrested? Come on! “I’m an old man. I’m confused! I thought I paid for it. What’s my name? Will you take me home?”

No. That would be outright stealing (as opposed to taking too much Splenda).
Although, if they have lemons out one could always get the water, squeeze the lemons, pour in the Splenda and have fresh lemonade.
I believe that is how Warren Buffett became a gazzlionaire. He never bought drinks.

          Classic……
My buddy tells me the story of his Grandma who was a survivor and got a job at the airport gift shop…every time she used the restroom she loaded up on toilet paper and tissues…he said they literally had boxes of the stuff.

On a separate note I’ve noticed some kind of huge increase in the public use of Purell and Germ X….last week I was eating at a burger joint and they actually had bottles of the stuff out like napkins. I have also in the last few weeks seen these purell commercial dispensers in Grocery stores…DMV’s….Sams
Looks like everybody wants a spritz
I guess Germ X is not public Co. ….but if it were I’d get long….JNJ owns Purell

There’s a radio program that comes on XM radio on Sunday afternoons called Financial Physician…The guy’s name is Lou something, always talks intelligent. Its a call in show,so I just want to get his take on fixed income stuff…Now the caller before me had just asked Lou about muni bonds and Lou is like “I don’t own one muni bond, many states are having difficulties,if hyper inflation kicks in,there goes your principal…” So I come on next..”Hey Lou what about REITs? “REITs are overleveraged,Commercial REITS I fully expect them to start walking away from properties. ARMS will start adjusting soon as well…OK,what about agencies…FNMA, FHLMC paper?…Lou’s like”NO way!…You know, here’s a financial program and my take is the guy is either saying in so many words the financial system is destroyed or at a minimum a long way from functioning normal.

Well, a very wealthy man said he never bought at the bottom and always sold early. While it may be frustrating for several weeks, you may laugh all the way to the bank pretty soon. The recent Greek issue is underwater…really bad. Unless EU does something soon to reduce Greek spreads, the Greek contagion will spread very rapidly. Every bond investor who bought the recent Greek issue must be feeling like a moron right now.
