I think that wind and solar are so dilute that they have nothing going for them. The only time solar will work is when we can put panels in orbit and beam the energy down which is probably in a hundred years.
Amazing, I actually agree with you on this one. Nuclear is the ONLY solution to our energy needs. All the other bullshit, including solar and wind are simply noise. I have a position in USU and plan on keeping it a long long time.

Honestly…. I have no idea how far that thing can run. I am planning on holding it for a year just to see what it does. I have a stop on the bottom end to avoid a loss with the possible reorganization of everything. This country is way behind the curve in nuclear power generation. Look at countries like France for where we are headed. Big oil and their friends the Clintons and Bush’s are no longer in power and Obama is going to push this issue very hard. I have no idea how long it is going to take for this country to go deep into nuclear energy, but I suspect that while we still have borrowing power, we will spend big money on the future.
The world is going nuke Fig. There’s no other way to cut emissions. And you know what, after you get economic scaling that results in the price of plants falling drastically power output could end up being cheaper than coal fired plants.
There’s an excellent scientist here in Australia with an good pedigree in environmentalism who runs a blog and he’s pushing nuke like crazy as the only way to go.

Yep. I know the world is going nuke. It has to. I know about the whole Australian nuclear fight. It’s a joke, and in the end, nuclear will be their solution as well. It has nothing to do with emissions either.
This is the entire situation in a nutshell.
Throughout the 1900’s The US and other industrialized nations made gigantic investments in fossil fuels. These investments take decades to pay off and the huge money investors/governments in this infrastructure will do WHATEVER it takes to ensure that their investments are safe. This includes going to war, enslaving populations, whatever it takes.
What we are witnessing currently is the topping out of these investments. The end of fossil fuel investment and consumption and the beginning of the nuclear era. This change will not come without major disruptions and calamities.
Cap and Trade, Global Warming, “Green” all those bullshit environmental mumbo jumbo bullshit terms mean nothing. The purpose of them is to change the public’s perception of nuclear as a clean alternative rather than as a dangerous method of power generation. It also will force corporations to move away from traditional energy sources, thus creating more demand for nuclear.
So, you may ask, why do we need to go nuclear? There is plenty of oil still left to use. This is true, however, the world’s population is out of fucking control. Even with the massive world war that is coming, the world’s energy needs still won’t be able to be met with fossil fuels.
Oh and if the bears go out in the woods today they sure of a big surprise.
