This is stupid. I object on principle alone. I cannot fall into lock-step with the notion that the stock exchange must mirror the dollar at all times. Frankly, it’s a little insulting to my intelligence and makes for an awful marketplace.
You know, it’s bad enough that I have to trade in a manipulated market. Now “they” want me to discard all of my gifts and simply pay attention to the dollar-dow paradigm. Once again, I protest on moral/religious grounds. My religion dictates that I cannot kowtow to the dollar-dow paradigm.
With my money, I’m on protest, so it really doesn’t matter what I like or dislike, now does it? But if I wasn’t protesting, I might say “hmmm, this W.W. Grainger, Inc. [[GWW]] looks interesting over here.” But to be honest, all of the fun is being sapped out of the market. You go tend to the dollar fields. “The Fly” will be busy planning for Turkey Day.

Man, the interwebs are quite boring today.
ENTR is breaking my heart.
The scary consequence of the US dollar carry trade is that it has pushed almost all risky assets to be correlated. And when the music stops and someone starts to unwind the trade, it will get ugly. When everything you hold is correlated to each other and everything else in the market, even a small tremor of selling will lead to an avalanche as the value of your portfolio starts to decline all at once.

I just think that anyone in Risk Management.(I don’t care if it’s JPM or a freelance money manager.) is confused.
With the events that have unfolded over the last year..they are confused.
What happens with confusion? Look for the easiest trade that works and pile in.
Lots of folks piled into the “dollar getting beaten idea.”
When that happens the market is “uneven” – lots of money tied to 1 trade.
And when the “dollar getting beaten” unwinds. Commodities (gold) get crushed.
Do I know what the fuck I am talking about 100% of the time with backable “data”. A definite NO.
All I know is it’s something to consider. Check the dollar futures every morning. And watch the DXY like folks watch oil.
I simply think that it’s very possible that large blocks of commodities and securities get sold if the dollar gets significant strength.
