I have given the Pina Colada sippers at Stocktwits my ideas and I hope they heed my sage advice. With God’s grace and a little luck, Stocktwits TV will be home to all of the popular youtube personalities, Stocktwits/iBankCoin/rest of blogosphere traders, turning some into goats, others into stars. The widget, which can be seen on iBankCoin’s homepage during trading hours, can be embedded on any site and will spread like wild fire, once the programming is kick-ass and becomes a real viable replacement or alternative to the clam-diggers at CNBC.
I loved the idea so much, I asked the hammock lovers at Stocktwits to allow iBankCoin be its first sponsor. Thankfully, they allowed me another avenue to express my twisted, yet creative, skills. I’ll admit there were some points today where I got fed up with watching Mr. Hanky stutter, but what sort of strategy does one envision that can propel this medium ahead of Bloomberg? I would think that a major systemic disadvantage this internet based system will have is that the majority of the information will be, by definition, pre-chewed. From what I have seen alot of it is some facts presentation that quickly moves onto that particular persons analysis. While I don’t necessarily disagree with information being interpreted to some degree, it would be near impossible for it not to be, I prefer more detailed facts that leave more onus on the listener to analyze as they see fit. In that respect I cannot see this being anymore than a supplement, just like this site is, to main news sources such a Bloomberg.

Why? Because news, and especially financial news, often needs interpretation. Not everyone is a freaking genius like you, who knows how to trade exactly off a given piece of information.

A couple of things,
1. I make mention to the fact that blogs, being mostly analysis as you say, are still useful information sources, just not the primary source that Fly-man wants it to be.
2. Certainly some analysis on the part of those experienced in the matter is a plus, otherwise bloomberg would just be a news feed. The issue is when it is almost exclusively analysis the temptation, and by no means do i suggest this is anybody’s intent, is for people to just become sheep listening to the individual and not critically thinking for themselves, see Cramer (Look at his fact-to-“analysis” ratio).
3. Those of us serious enough to watch day to day hour to hour news shows and are active in the market should have the ability to self interpret information. The 6 pm news business segment recap is sufficient for the rest.
4. In the event of a tidbit of information one cannot fully grasp arises there is the magic of google, for example until recently I had only cursory knowledge of how the leveraged etfs actually operate (something to do with swaps and options etc). I didn’t need someone on the tv giving me their opinion on them ,I could form my own by going online and reading the prospectus and any other supplementary information available.
And with an IQ of your obvious size, you could only come up with Wolfschanze (Ski Jump?) as a username.
