Because the FLY controls the PPT ratings. Once he has bought all he can buy for the stocks rated STRONG SELL or SELL, PPT will magically upgrade it to BUY or STRONG BUY. Then PPT subscribers will get long and FLY will unload to them for massive profits. What, did you really think the FLY created the PPT to help out worthless peasants such as yourself ?

Ok I never post on IBC but I will defend the PPT. I’m up over triple digits YTD for the first time ever and most of the success is due to the PPT. You get tons of research and the screeners are based on real criteria. The trigger buy/sell screens are awesome as well for daily short/long trades, that I execute daily in one of my accounts. Plus there are some real pros on there. You can make money following IBC but you can make some serious money on the PPT. I dumped all of my IBD services for it.

@Confused: I won’t presume to speak for The Fly, but my answer would be because the PPT, like all screening/rating systems, is a tool.
There’s nothing wrong with using a tool as the basis of a trading system. Trading according to S&P’s STARS ratings on stocks, or Chuck Schwab’s A/B/C/D/F “Schwab Equity Rating”s, or even friggin’ Morningstar’s mutual fund ratings will, in all probability, produce better results than random chance.
But that’s all it’ll do. Between a computer and Photoshop, I’ve got better tools than Michaelangelo could have dreamed of, but I still can’t produce the Sistine Chapel. I can barely photoshop the Flying Spaghetti monster into it.
If I may be permitted to butcher the following Zen koan:

1) Henry – I bought a little SFLY around $9 after following up on your reco and doing my own research. Being a genius determined not to redux my ’08 performance, I put a very tight, rising stop under it and made a wee bit of cash. It’s now around $13. Doh!
2) Have barely done anything with the PPT, but it’s already paid for itself. Just an outstanding screening tool. The extree involvement/tips/research reports from Fly and the tabbed bloggers is a bonus. Also, some very good contributions from some of the subscribers like Iwin, Hammy, mda and others who don’t always join in the retard reindeer games here. Don’t join if you’re not serious or if you post under the name of PPT Dood, ‘coz it’s kind of a douchebag-free zone. I think comps should be extended to regulars like Chivas and Cuervos because we could learn a lot from them, but it’s not my site and nobody asked me.
3) Is everybody paying attention to the ridiculous winning streak of Alpha and Cajun? I think CA is tearing it up, too. This should be noted for future reference. Nobody on cnbs or the hated cramer-the-clown show is close to their batting averages, not that they keep track of such things or are concerned with credibility in those GE properties.

I don’t have a PPT subscription (although I am thinking about it) but to the people that question why a stock could be on ‘Sell’ rating and the Fly would still buy it, I ask them: Do you understand anything about trading/investing & timeframes?
If you don’t, then go learn about them.
For instance, if a stock is in a downtrend on the Weekly or Daily, does that mean that I can not make money trading it’s 5min or 15min chart? No, it does not.
Perhaps the PPT system is geared towards a bit longer time trading/investing and Fly is only interested in a shorter timeframe at the moment, given the market conditions and other factors, but I would not find any issue with the PPT ranking and what Fly does.
Just like there are different trading strategies, all using different timeframes such as: Scalping, Momentum, Swing, etc, I would imagine that the PPT can not suit all styles of trading at the same time.
Perhaps your question should be: How can I better understand the PPT system and how it can help ME and MY objectives – as opposed to questioning it in this silly way.
