Nonetheless, I am TRYING to give the long side another whirl here, via long GLW/WNR. However, in all fairness, my WNR position is more of a hedge against my big DUG/ERY positions, if anything.
I am still short ESS and FRT and will initiate new cre shorts soon. I was waiting for a bounce, prior to doing so. However, much to my chagrin, it does not look like the market has the stones to go up.
With my money, I like short oil, short commercial Re, long refiners and lots of cash.

The last time I heard that term was about 20 years ago with my 74 Triumph TR-6. The damned fuel line went from the rear tank, under the frame, up the left side of the engine OVER the head and then split to the 2 carbs. When I drove it more than 20 minutes the fuel line sitting on the head would heat up and create vapor lock, vaporizing the gas before hitting the carbs. I would sputter, buck, and shimmy, piss and moan, and finally shutter to a stop. After lifting the hood and looking at it for 30 minutes, it would start right up again because everything cooled down…..only to enter vapor lock mode once again. Took me a while to figure out what the hell was going on, moved the line to the right side and fixed it.
But enough about that car. Typical British sports car. Much preferred to be looked at rather than actually driven.
Great call with SWHC, Broker. Now that was a nice ride. No vapor lock there.

I gave it a good thought on SWHC this morning (about holding into Monday nubers).
But given my bearish thesis on the markets (DOW to 6000), I couldnt fathom a scenario in which SWHC could reasonably hit $5 — especially given the spectacular run it just had. $4 is also the 200-day MA on SWHC.
I could be wrong, but I’m happy with my gains. Sold half at 3.70 and half at $4.

Frankly, I thought the inflation trade would take longer to play out given the deflationary depression the world is in. I also figured the big boys would run the bond bubble a while longer. They didnt. These are curious times we’re in.
With Europe quickly hitting the shitter, gold’s appeal as an alternative central bank reserve currency is gaining serious traction.
I just hate buying gold up here. I’d LOVE to see gold below $850. If we dip below that number, I’ll be buying with both hands.
If not, I’ll just have to miss out.

I want to do it 2 ways.
First, I want to buy Canadian Maple Leaves. I also want to do it outside the US to avoid high capital gains taxes on bullion. If you do it in Canada, you avoid taxation all together because they dont report to the US IRS.
Second, I’ll buy the GLD and manage that. Sure, the cap gains are there and there’s sketch factor regarding ETF’s, but it’s liquid and easy to get in and out of.
The Maple Leaves will be for the long-term (ie, Mad Max/Mayan Calendar future that’s coming). There’s precedent for government seizure of gold (1933 with FDR), so you want to avoid purchasing and holding gold in the US.
Those are my tips.
