Hey, what the crap happened to your icon at the top. It now says you were looking for higher stock prices in 2008.

is that part of the comedy or has someone hacked your site?

No, Ryan – that’s Fly running up his indicator like a big old Jolly Roger.

As Jake will be happy to tell you – the imminent demise in the USD – does indeed mean the market will rocket higher.

Be careful not to let your balls hang out there too long and get castrated like a lot of the bulltards.

This funnel is not over yet. This short term rally is setting up nice for a fucking clawhammer beat down.

Kind of amazing that Kris Kristofferson ever got on the screen, with that eyebrow-less condition and all.

Never heard of Rollover so I googled it to check out the plot.

Okay, so it’s got a couple of Holland Tunnel-sized gaping holes in it.

But you gotta love a bullshit story about investment banking that uses commercial banks as the protagonist, because, well, it’s 1981 and no one knows that the fluck an investment bank is anyway.

Alan Pakula was a pretty good director, as I recall, but you know that with Hanoi Jane in the mix, the whole thing was commie in origin.

Cuervo, I’m not as enamored of that chart, as there are more currencies in the world than the Euro, which is dead sooner than the dollar.

Using UUP (as someone mentioned), gives you a better scan of the entire (non-gold) monetary markets.

  20. Perhaps auteur Pakula knew too much? From his bio:

Pakula died in 1998 in a bizarre car accident on the Long Island Expressway in Melville, New York at the age of 70. A driver in front of him struck a metal pipe, which went through Pakula’s windshield, striking him in the head and causing him to swerve off the road and into a fence. He was killed instantly.

Ah, my darling murderous L.I.E. Killer of Harry Chapin, as well.

One wonder when one could get up enough speed to be bothered by flying objects? Must have been a more innocent time.

    ‘Course, then there’s this:

In 1971, Pakula released the first installment of what would informally come to be known as his “paranoia trilogy”. Klute, the story of a private eye’s relationship with a call girl (played by Jane Fonda, who won an Oscar for her performance), was a commercial and critical success. This was followed in 1974 by The Parallax View starring Warren Beatty, a similarly labyrinthine post-Watergate thriller notable for its experimental use of hypnotic imagery in a celebrated film-within-a-film sequence in which the protagonist is inducted into the mysterious Parallax Corporation.

Finally, in 1976, Pakula rounded out the “trilogy” with All the President’s Men, based on the bestselling account of the Watergate scandal written by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, who were played in the movie by Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman. It was another commercial hit, considered by many critics and fans to be one of the best thrillers of the 1970s.[1]

Hmmmm… Fonda, Beatty and Redford… pretty much the “Leninist Trifecta” with that grouping. And Keifer Sutherland’s Dad (who starred with Hanoi Jane in Klute) was no slouch either when it came to the Soviet worship.

    He must just love “24.”

    Folks,

Speaking of something slightly more long term: what the hell do I do with the 60% of my 401k I have left. Move everything to a money market? Hope that Latin America is so backwards it won’t care about the apocalypse and go with emerging market funds? Gold and Silver? Say fuck it and continue throwing money into the wind?

    Would totally appreciate any advice.

Its a no brainer to call Friday & Monday bullish, just listen to the news. Your track record on calling days & even half days Fly are poor when there is not overwhelming news to go on. You make money for sure mostly from hedging no one disputes that.

Kmorph — if you are serious about not knowing what to do, then go 25% precious metals (silver & gold, platinum if you feel comfortable, but make it mostly gold) and keep the rest in cash, with 20% set aside for “opportunities” for which you will have to pay attention.

I think TBT is a no brainer as well, but something you may have to watch in the near term, as I expect a pull back here to at least the low 40’s.

I was not familiar with this movie; thanks for the clip and the info.

The timing of it’s release is interesting, pretty much right at the peak of all the post-seventies’ financial turmoil. You could say that this movie culminated with a lot of the fear of the times. I think we can probably look forward to more movies like this in the future.

    Comedy time indeed.

I am back from the tradeshow, the turn out for the V-twin Expo in Cincinnati was 1/2 of last year. About 50 companies from last year were not there this year, around 20 were booked, but cancelled back in Nov. and the turn out for this year, only filled 3/4 of one floor of the Duke Energy Convention Center, normally fills all floors with vendors/companies even in the hallways. All the restaurants were half capacity, even the Havana Martini Bar was dead. When we went into it, there were only 3 people there……. weird….. this is reality.

As far as reality on a normal, american working mans plain, this upcoming Daytona 500, seats sold and capacity levels will be a good indication as well.

as far as the strippers convention, more developing…..

The Artist, I just came back from a trade show in Boston. The traffic was good, but not much buying. My brother was in NYC for a show last month, he said it was very quiet. Atlanta, Dallas shows all have been way off from last year. I’m not sure of your industry, but these are unsettling trends, no matter what business you are in. Commercial real estate is going to get a major haircut over the coming years, probably a lot worse than residential (mall ghost towns). We are way over retailed in this country in my opinion. Cheers!
