Therefore, because China is behind everything that’s working in this market, “it’s China we should be focused on,” Cramer said, “not our leaders in Washington.”

Zounds! Cramer in sync with Fly. Just goes to show even a broken galaxy is right every trillion years or so.
    ——

BTW, there’s an amassing mass of fundamental and technical datapoints that says the end is no longer near. Not just the up-day happyfolk; I mean the data – TED spread under 1.0 – who noticed that? VIX beat down halfway to normal. Is anyone here aware that new-home inventories are now reduced to 2004 levels? Still willing to bet that no American will ever want to buy a new home again? Market (several times now) has been strong on crappy news, etc. etc. Even Fly has stopped championing the deflationary vortex of visceral evisceration. Soon his terrorstimulism vent will veer towards inflation and TBT – thank you, congress, for sealing the deal. Bank execs buy in and the market’s thinking they’re smart – when was the last time the market thought a banker was smart? Hmmm. Signs, all signs. 2009 will not be the year of the devildog.

Hey guys considering all this fucking cash going out the door what would you say would be a good 5 year play because of the stimulus? Let call it fucked by the stimulus play. So I see massive inflation could happen causing gold and commodities to rise to unheard of levels. What else can you think of?

Well, the truth of the matter is that since the dollar is a relative measure of debt, and since we all wear it equally, then it’s really irrelevant and it’s an arbitrary sliding scale without any real meaning other than an object of trade.

The more important question is “What makes the US a good investment for the future? (Versus something like the saharah desert)”.

    Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?
    A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers..

    Q. Where will the government get this money?
    A. From taxpayers.

    Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
    A. No, they are borrowing it from China. Your children are expected to repay the Chinese.

    Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
    A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

    Q. But isn’t that stimulating the economy of China?
    A. Shut up.”

This is a short term bounce just like any other recession.
China is making shit just to keep the peasants busy. Europe is their main trade partner and they are worse off than we are. There is waning demand for Chinese products outside of China. That $2300/year the average Chinese urban dweller earns must go really far, especially considering food accounts for half of living expenses. Inventories there must be stacked to the ceiling and they expect their countrymen to boost their own consumption.

Fucking Mastercard and Visa need to teach the Chinese how we do it in America; charge it.

I’ll follow the trend while it lasts. I just don’t think it will last very long.

From an ealrier post (Mustard Seeds), Ottnott was saying that giving $4 billion to the virtuous and incorrupitble group ACORN was not such a bad thing. He seemed to admonish Mr.Gint for regurgitating the GOP talking points on all the pork in the ‘stimulus’ bill.

(Ottnot says)…”The GOP has made it a big talking point. You dutifully pick up the shovel and start slinging shit. But here’s what the $4.19 billion is actually for:

5 For a further additional amount for ‘‘Community De

Well Mr Ottnot, i contend that you are the Dupe.
Because if you have not heard about ACORN’s past and all the ILLEGAL ACTIVITY they have been accused of and CHARGED with, please meet my dear friend, Mr. Google.

Just because there is a bunch pretty sounding shit in there about community reinvestment, foreclosure prevention, blighted community redevelopment, etc. that makes you feel warm & fuzzy inside; anyone with half a brain knows that most of that $4.19 billion will really go to:

    1 bamboozlement, chicanery, deceit
    2 double-dealing, fraud, graft,
    3 flim-flam, fast shuffle, hoodwinking
4 hustle, misrepresentation, song and dance
    5 spuriousness, shakedown, swindling, treachery
    6 burglary, larceny, thievery
    7 mafia, extortion, bribery
    8 etc, etc
    9 etc etc

So, fuck the scandal ridden ACORN. I’m sure they may have accomplished a few decent things for lower income communities in the past (at what cost?). BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE- AT THEIR CORE, THEY ARE THE MOST RADICAL, LEFT-LEANING, ANTI-CAPITALIST, SOCIALIST, GOVERNMENT FUNDED GROUP IN AMERICA.

So, needless to say, i agree with Mr. Gint that the pork in this ‘stimuls bill’ is inexcusable and that not one fucking cent should be allocated to those fucks at ACORN.

    Good Day, indeud.

gotta love the part about Smart Money betting agaist Cramer!
    Barrons weekend summary:

Positive feature on UnitedHealth Group (UNH), citing company’s strong balance sheet and rising premium prices, targeting low $50’s over the next year. Notes expansive network of health-care suppliers after aggressive growth measures since 1990’s. Also quotes a large institutional investor seeing an offset of lost customers from rising unemployment by incoming Medicare/Medicaid business, with additional revenue coming from earmarked funds from incoming administration’s provision for health care. Also positive on company’s diversification into health-services field and performance of new CEO Hemsley.
    – Asian Trader section positive on BHP (BHP), noting the miner’s recovery after walking away from Rio Tinto bid. Sees comparative advantage for the industry leader from its low-cost structure and attractive valuation over the long term. Also expects return of growth in demand from China.
    – Commodities Corner section comments on 2.5% y/y Feb. decline in prices for choice-grade beef and sees meat-company stocks Smithfield Foods (SFD) and Tyson Foods (TSN) as attractive on expectation of a bottom in the most recent quarter.
    – A review of performance of recommendations by CNBC Mad Money host Jim Cramer reveals that he underperformed the S&P by 5% for May-Dec of 2008, with Buys losing 10% more than the broader market that was offset with a 5% outperformance by the Sells. Also cites a study of smart money betting against Cramer’s Buys with in-the-money puts, a strategy said to have a return of as much as 25% a month.
    – Positive article on Canada’s Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS), noting its strong capital base (Tier 1 ratio of 9.3%), generous 6.4% dividend, geographic diversification, and relative health due to significantly lower exposure to toxic mortgage assets. Cites CEO stating a “significant but manageable” increase in loan-loss provisions that are priced into BNS guidance for EPS to rise 7-12% in 2009. Also sees benefits from a more resilient housing market in Canada and exposure to Latin America.
    – Positive feature on NetApp (NTAP), stating that a corporate demand for storage is not likely to recede, and noting that the company’s efficiency-oriented products are attractive to customers looking for cost reductions. Also notes that NTAP’s “unified” software solutions are better suited to storage demand than those of competitors IBM, HP, and Hitachi that have varied types of architectures. Article also hints that based on its competitive advantages, the company is attractive for a takeover by the likes of IBM, HP, Dell, Oracle, or Cisco.
    – Tech Week section underscores a more vocal stance by Apple (AAPL) to defend its intellectual property of “multi-touch” screen features, perceived to be encroached by iPhone-like interface of the new Palm product Pre.

Small piece in the Conde Nast Portfolio about the Goldman Sach’s Conspiracy.
Blankfien, Steel, Thain, Paulson, Kashkari. All involved in the workings of the financial bailouts and mergers along with the Government.

    Facts-

Bears Stern’s- rumors appeared in print that traders in Goldman’s London Unit tried to drive Bear’s stock down.- My take , Well no shit!!

Merrill Lynch sale- Thain was a frequent adviser to Geither, who was then president of the NY fed. Thani worked as Goldman’s co-president under Paulson.

AIG bailout- Paulson installed Goldman Vice Chair Ed Liddy as CEO.

Billions for the banks- Lehamn was looking for roughly $6 billion. The company was unable to raise the money and failed. Just three weeks after Goldman received 10 billion from the bailout plan.

Rescuing Citigroup- Citi adviser and Goldman alum Rubin mentored Geithener at treasury and was one of Paulson’s contemporaries at Goldman.

Obama Presidency- Goldman Sach’s was one of the largests donors to Obama.

Se a pattern here. Goldman is so intertwined in the runnings of the Fed and the financial system and has so much power over decision making. As the saying goes power corupts, absolute power corupts absolutely.

Just more reason to hate Goldman.
