I’m approaching the month of October cautiously. I think sentiment has shifted a bit in the last two weeks and I’m looking for any excuses to lighten up here.
Back in August, there were many looking for a breakout to bet against stocks. That voice has gotten quiet. It seems like the crowd has accepted that the market trades higher from here. Many are referencing how great the last few Octobers have been, which makes me even more nervous.
This would also be an optimal time for something to happen to stir up noise ahead of the election.
I ran a poll awhile back and to my astonishment I found that a big chunk of the vote were people in a high cash position. Ideally, we get a good market move this week to get that crowd to deploy some capital before the market gets volatile.
This week, I’m enamored with Chinese Burritos and Biotech. IPO’s look great as well.
Other than that, I’m not trying to increase exposure here, fwiw.

The establishment candidate has been the beneficiary of the noise recently. Yet the market seems rather calm ahead of tomorrow’s Wikileaks “bombshell”. If her candidacy were to get hurt, pharma and biotech should be among the sectors that suffer. I’m short some pharmas …interesting that I am not making any money in them today.
$IBB ripped into the close. Hillary probably hits JA with a drone before then.
LOL, probably not necessary. Who wants to bet that the big surprise is just a ton more emails that “look suspicious” to conspiracy theorists, but that prove nothing damaging.
For anyone long the market, I guess you already are betting with your trades that that’s the case.
And if you are short, you are betting that the new emails will be a big deal.

Well, the market is mixed and mostly down, despite the fact that Assange has disappointed conspiracy theorists the world over. They were all planning to take hundreds of pages of documents to bed with them each night, to pour over them looking for something suspicious sounding. What are they going to do now? How will they get to sleep at night?

I don’t know if you were in AHWOA when these started getting passed around? I’ve never traded this kind of crap, but it’s kind of fun. Silly to look at $MJNA and say, “well, it’s up 100% but it’s got work to do.” But obviously these are sized VERY small. The three combined are about 70% of a normal stock position for me.
As a personal rule I dont trade penny stocks. Though as Jeff said its basically the same thing as an option position.
Weed stocks are the exception. But yes, trade them like a call option premium.
