LOL at that last little “flash dip” in stocks. Hard to say that the playing field is level out there when a machine can make you liquidate into fast conditions, buy your position, and take it right back up to highs without you.
I’m looking for buying opportunities. Already picked up UNXL, ANR and trying to get YOKU.

I was one of the robots. Booked my spy calls at the highs and then bought SPY puts. So far was feeling smart. But your observation is making me feel uh-oh.
SPY is a tough hedge. buh-buh-beta.
it can have advantages though. that extra 15 minute window has made a difference on multiple occaisons.
In these markets its a disadvantage, which is why I put it out there last week.
Tough to lose on the hedge, and your longs.
Perhaps it would be a good topic for AHWOA as in what would you consider as better or non-beta hedges.
I agree. My poor excuse is it is convenient and less risky when compared to a rest of calls and puts in my portfolio.

I have an all too real world example of a close call on that today re HIMX. Watched that baby go all the way down to 9.85. People were panicking. Selling like crazy. a quick analysis of last week’s lows showed me that wasn’t so bad. Then it bounced back up to 10.05 in five mins. Crazy, (Got in UNXL as well)
OA, I have LNKD Nov puts that were struggling in the past. But today the stock finally started to showing cracks. Not sure if the stock is going down as collateral damage. What is your read on LNKD for the next 2-3 weeks?
My thoughts since late Sept were that these stocks would start to lag.

Does fading the bots mean no hard stops on long positions you hold? Wonder are the bots being set up to run stops?
On positions you want, setting buy limit orders below market should do it, but how to guess the bot threshold?
I can’t follow the ticker minute by minute on a daily basis. I’m always looking better automated management strategies.

It seems like the oil services sector has been outperorming the S & P. Looking at DO, it appears that there is room to 67. Earnings come out on the 24th.
