If my attitude or my prose this week has offended more than it usually does, I’ve been on a carb-free diet this week. Ever tried carb-free?

Don’t.

I had some great calls this week, but poor execution at times. Combine that with food cravings and I will rip your head off if you even try looking at me funny.

I bought AUG calls in SHLD today and am looking for a spot to book WDAY. That’s about all I’ve done here today besides eat.

If you are looking for opportunity, buy the retests of yesterday’s breakouts in China stocks until they have all SINA’d-higher. SOHU-YOKU-HA’DOKEN-CTRP are my faves.

I will take a few trades into the bell later today. Stay tuned.

Been doing carb back-loading for a quarter, except on Saturday or Sunday I’ll cheat – BBQs, events, etc. It delivers solid results.

The drop off in daytime energy sucks though. I bumped up my caffeine intake to 3 black coffees a day and take a 30 minute nap around 3 pm.

    OA,
I’ve tried a lot of diets and carb free is a killer. It’s way too hard. But I recently found one that’s easy. It’s called 5/2. For two days a week you eat only 600 cal for a man and 500 for a women. These days can not be side by side. for the rest of the week eat whatever you want. What makes it easy is that you know the very next day you can eat whatever you want! You’ll loose one lb a week.

OA, congrats on the diet. Stick with it. I am a fitness enthusiast and believe it or not, have given an interview on a local TV channel on Paleo. You will notice that your energy level will decrease on a very low carb diet in addition to cravings. Through some experience, I found out a few ways to address it without having to give up the discipline. Let me know if you ever want to discuss or need some buddy motivation. Will be more than happy to help.

Speaking of WDAY, me sitting on some big gains too and looking to book coin before the close. Cheers!

I had a question on options behaviour after positive earnings and opex the same day. I am sitting on some nice gains on CMG Aug calls that I bought before earnings.

I think the price will run further up due to momentum next two weeks so I want to hold the calls.

But because it is post earnings, does that mean the Aug calls will lose lot of premium value and hence won’t go up or remain flat if the underlying stock price appreciates only by a few percentage points more max over the course of next two weeks? Wouldn’t that mean I sell them now instead of holding them even if I feel confident about the underlying stock prices?

Aug calls have already endured the vol crush. However, if you think things flatten out for awhile, book gains now, hop back in later.

“See in the Bay Area we dance a little different…” Same applies to 12631. You gonna join us? Or is it gonna be completely separate? Thus, depleting my pocketbook even more 😉

It’s a question of what works for “you”. The only diet that’s ever worked for me is no carb, plus it’s super easy. You get to eat gigantic portions of tasty meat, so you’re never hungry, plus you’re always super alert during the day because you’re not eating the carbs that make you drowsy. So you never get that “I need to take a nap” feeling after lunch. Also, I get to drink barrels of red wine.

Your body turns carbs into sugar. You get a sugar high followed by a sugar crash. Not to mention carbs don’t contain much nutrition anyway. Empty calories.

Listen! I’m very old. I’ve done diet shit all my life. Everything works. I did Atkins for years. But the point is that you want something that you can keep going with. It doesn’t matter if weight loss is slow. It’s about being able to keep it going for your life. 5/2 is easy. And when the weight is off ( why care how long it takes ), you just go to 5/1 to maintain. Otherwise, and I guarentee it, you will just yo yo like I did before I found this diet. Answer this question . How hard can it be to deprive yourself for just one day if you know that the very next day you don’t have to?

Our bodies break down starch, vegies, fruit, and protien into simple sugars which can be measured in calories. After you eat a meal the burn of calories begins with the simple sugars first, then starch, fruits and vegies, and last it works on the protein. 4 oz. of protein will produce far more calories than 4 oz. of starch. Whatever your body does not need that you have consumed is stored in the form of fat. So if you eat a large dinner and 4 hours later are in bed, during the night you will not burn much due to low activity level, and what you do not use is stored. I consume lots of carbs, vegies and fruit but keep a
rein on the protein. Eat heavy in the middle of the day, protein, and lite at night. If you want meat at night skip the potato and have it with salad. If one consumes more calories than they burn, they gain weight. It is all about balance. Metabolism plays a part, but is hard to alter. Counting calories is no fun, it is easier for me to throttle back on the protein.
