Portfolio 02/06/13; The Sleep Deprivation Edition

I apologize for my lack of content the past couple of days.  Things have gotten extremely busy around these parts in matters concerning the traffic impact of retail and residential development (wait, the economy sucks, right?), plus you can sprinkle in a dash of moderate to severe sleep deprivation and caring for a toddler and baby for good measure.

Thus my time and energy have been momentarily redirected to address both of these developing situations.

I have been able to keep pace with my “work” work, but the sleep deprivation continues (even when I try to address it as I did last evening by going to bed at 10, which is absolutely unheard of for yours truly.  In grande fashion, my daughter decided to wake up from 4-5:15 this morning thus giving me about 6 minutes to go back to sleep before I was planning on getting up for work.  At that time I said: “fuck this, time to shower and leave”).

Please pardon my language and tenor, for I am in a bit of a fouled mood.

Now a few words regarding the stocks that I own:

  • I really like how AN is ‘flagging’ right at the (all-time, mind you) highs from October.  In my eyes, this is a healthy setup before the stock moves higher.  The run from the start of the year has been pretty unsustainable, so I will look for this stock to continue to correct through time moreso than price.  At this point, I’m more interested to see how things shake out here underneath 49 before making any additions to my position.  Now that earnings are out of the way, with the exception of some “surprise sex” from the market, this stock should be free from large event driven price moves to the downside.
  • I first told you, my dear readers, about CBI when it was in the high 40’s, then I told you about it again when it was pulling back last week and The PPT (in all of it’s Godly powers) told us to BUY THE HELL out of this.  I listened and am up almost 5% since that point…did you listen?  There is very little historical resistance in this stock other than the all-time high of 63.5.  My belief is that we march higher, right to that point.
  • CTB continues to waste my time and I cannot understand what is holding me back from liquidating at least part of this position.  Ignorance?  Greed?  Stupidity?  All of the above?
  • Just yesterday I was talking about how I wanted to add to my ESV position.  Around noon yesterday I was thinking about when would be the best time to liquidate all of my holdings in this stock, but decided to wait until the close to see how things “shook out”.  This is part of the beauty of building a small position.  My losses when the stock was knifing lower were well within my risk profile, so I was able to wait until the close before making decisions.  I have found that many times a stock will make a move lower (like ESV did yesterday) only to rebound by the close (as ESV also did yesterday), thus validating my patience.
  • MDY is a beast.
  • MRH will be reduced sometime today by 75% in preparation for earnings.
  • PCL rebounded nicely yesterday.  I added shares of this stock on Tuesday based on another “PPT historical data observation”.  I think this stock touches 50 (and MORE) soon.  Looking forward to that ex-div coming up soon as well ($0.42/share quarterly).
  • I have such a difficult time selling stocks that are on a dip like WGO.  Reason being, here is what usually happens: I typically capitulate at the EXACT bottom then I sit and marvel as the stock moves higher in the days that follow.  It’s like I have magical powers in these matters.  That’s why I’m clinging to this stock, even though EVERYTHING is telling me to get the hell out of here and salvage the 10 bucks that I’m up.

I know my performance has been “muted”, but as of the close yesterday, I am at new 2013 highs…so the family of “elizamae” rejoiced around the barrel of burning trash last evening whilst cracking open an extra celebratory can of “Pork and Beans”.  BEHOLD the grandeur:
