Almost everyone I come across unanimously agrees that Seinfeld was a stupid show and almost entirely unfunny, aside from the occasional Costanza skit.
Early this afternoon, Barry Rithholtz decided to call me out on this shit and posted the following.
Funniest television comedy shows: A quick & subjective thread.
Yesterday, my friend @The_Real_Fly was day drinking, and drunk Tweeted this nonsense:https://t.co/K6RmL71oAR

This of course is nonsense. Listen to me. I am an authority on entertainment and all things to do with humor. No one is funnier than me and no one has seen more movies and television than me. I consume information at an industrial rate. The fact that Barry thinks Seinfeld is funny isn’t his fault. He is merely a byproduct of his environment. He probably was raised in a housing tenement and never saw some of the other shows. If you only ate grilled cheese sandwiches for your entire life, how could you ever know the splendor of a thicc steak?
Here is my list, with authority.

Lesser bloggers will ask for your lists to get the site some traffic. I don’t need that shit. I make like 15 bucks per month on ads for this shit hole. Keep your opinions to yourself. Your opinions and meaningless, since I am the authority.

Holy shit, you watch a lot of TV. No wonder your house is yellowed from lack of upkeep.
Your mother is yellowed
If she saw this (RIP), she would surely hunt you down and beat you with her prosthetic leg. Not the church leg, mind you, the one with the faces of The Carpenters stenciled on. That’s her beatin’ leg.
Fuck your mother.
Barry Ritholtz is a cowardly Progressive.
I couldn’t agree more and I applaud you for taking this stand.
Let’s face the facts here…people say they like Seinfeld just so other people will think they aren’t quirky and smart.
Blackadder and Deadwood.
Has the Fly not met with Lord of Adders Black?
I think he should if not so.
Minus profanity there is little cognitive dissonance upon their views upon fools.
Deadwood’s Alfred Swearengen’s reflective monologues during oral sex with their dark and heavy subtext of rageful oedipal complexity are soul scorchingly tragedy and lip curling comedy intertwined to such extent I had say all this before a much needed full stop.
Seinyfield of dreams are ones of garbage and as funny as placing a broken topped bottle beneath ones ass pulling down ones pants and sitting down hard with the taint as the target.
I wish TABOO would get back in gear sometime in the next decade and with follow through
Taboo was amazing
True Detective Season 1 is some of the best television of all time. The Wire deserves a higher ranking.
Your list, as well as Barry’s is invalid.
Any list of best ever TV shows that excludes the Odd Couple is a list of trash. There are some other classics such as Get Smart and even the Brady Bunch (for its time) but not including the Odd Couple is going to make the TV Gods angry.
Sanford and Son.
I dream of Jeannie, Bugs Bunny & Gilligan’s Island 😛
Respectfully, Dr. Fly, with all your criticism of Seinfield being a crappy show, the actor Larry David, who created the show Curb Your Enthusiasm, was also the co-creator for the Seinfeld series, and he wrote 62 episodes of Seinfeld. He was even the inspiration for the George Costanza character.
So I’m surprised that you would like Curb Your Enthusiasm at all, since Larry David had such a huge influence on Seinfeld’s content.
Perhaps it was some of the characters in Seinfeld that you did not favor particularly. I know there’s some shows I don’t watch since I can’t stand one character or two.
Scrubs.
Largely a demographic question. A snapshot.
As a child in the ’60s comedy was the Smothers Brothers, Laugh In and later Carol Burnett Show. Non comedy favorite was The Wild Wild West.
My favorite cartoon was Jonny Quest.
For a kid in the ’60s, the opening and closing sequences sealed the deal:

Jonny Quest featured people getting killed, and not coming back. I thought nothing of it as a kid, munching on M&Ms and sweet tarts.
Andy Griffith
Holy shit Ritholz is a retard. I don’t agree with all aspects of Fly’s list but it’s pretty spot on. How could anyone honorable mention Everybody Loves Raymond for anything!?!
Cheers – Norm was a legend
