It’s so tempting to buy EXK and AG down here. After all, the dollar “isn’t worth anything” and “hard currencies” are the way to go, have been for thousands of years. I find it mildly amusing that the misfits from Bitcoin have accomplished what the miscreants who own gold/silver have tried to accomplish in a little more than 1 year.
Here we are, 5 years removed from the financial crisis, and gold/silver have gone nowhere. It is the very definition of dead money.
These near term spikes are ALWAYS sold and the miners are the very worst investments you could possible imagine. I am NOT a buyer of them here or there. I am NOT a buyer of them anywhere. I don’t like them in a box, or with a fox, or with jam or with a ham. I do not like them at all and rather play with toilet paper inside of a bathroom stall.
Top picks: BALT, YELP, GMCR
Both GIMO and RBCN have stalled; but I am a very patient man.

Gold and Silver are dead money until they aren’t. How much longer will the FED be able to keep the balls in the air? What happens when they can no longer maintain the USD as the world’s reserve currency? While I agree that it’s been a nightmare for Gold & Silver traders, it wouldn’t hurt to buy some physical metal down at the current prices as insurance.
If not the dollar as the world reserve currency, then who?
There could be a mixed bag of the Dollar, Euro, and Yuan; which would also be bad for the USD.
Never gonna happen
A SDR is not going to happen? Sure it is is, they already have a working plan to implement when the feces hits the fan!

Everything you say does not make any sense. Let me break it down for you.
1. The federal reserve is bringing down the value of the dollar by printing more, yet GOLD has been sucking.
2. The ‘fed’ does not do anything to maintain the USD as the world’s reserve currency. This comes from the US economy and influence.
3. Gold (and any other commodity) trades on supply and demand. If the price goes lower, then there is obviously a lack of buyers. Don’t try to rationalize your way around it.
“Everything you say does not make any sense.”
Please now. You hurt my feelings.
My response to your eloquence:
1. GOLD has indeed been sucking but past performance is not an indication of future performance. There are many reasons why gold has sucked and the FED printing is not one of them. Tell me what should happen when the FED prints and why it hasn’t happened. Also answer whether you believe there is a reasonable way the FED can stop printing while avoiding catastrophe. Now that you’ve come to the conclusion that they cannot, do you think the FED can print an unlimited amount of money in perpetuity with no ramifications?
2. The FED, and the bankers control everything now. So when you state that the dollar maintains its status from influence, whose influence are you referring to? The military? Who ultimately controls the military? Why did the US invade Iraq, Libya, etc etc? WMDs? Didn’t like Quaddafi’s choice of cologne?
3. What happens when you increase the supply of something? Answer: The price drops. Do you know how much paper gold is held relative to the amount of physical gold in existence? If everyone who held a paper claim demanded the physical it represented, do you know what would happen? Does the word ‘rehypothecate’ mean anything to you?
I am not rationalizing any way around anything but rather, I am being very rational and looking directly at the facts.
Have a pleasant evening.
Now that you’re done trying to impress a bunch of internet strangers with a crashproof (LOLZ) regurgitant, I have a simple question for you: Have you ever made any money in the markets?
I’m betting you haven’t smart guy.
“USD as the world’s reserve currency” – That is the kind of low-odds event you might plan ahead to react to, but not to take action against right now. If you are buying gold and silver now you might as well be buying guns and ammo for the zombies.
What happened to JakeG?
I believe he sold his computer to buy mining equipment.
Ha! Two pick axes and a pan.
Jake has taken up residence in Bernanke’s trophy room.
The Fed doesn’t “maintain the USD as the world’s reserve currency”, jagweed, OTHER countries Feds make sure of that. Nothing’s going to change that until they stop impoverishing their carrot farmers with currency controls and expensive imports.
GMCR4TW
Piss out early in the week then ramp the end of week. While the tape waits for the no taper news?
don’t get out of RBCN please. i just moved in today with a not so bad (8.90) entry. 🙂
Ok doubters & mockers.
My dow top IS holding. Despite your Fake Jobs Friday rally.

the meek shall inherit the earth, remember?
The meek will inherit the middle class but that is all.
Master Fly,
if you don’t like gold, as i am told,
what do you use,
to hedge your portfolio’s furious fuse ?
as i clearly see it,
holding PM’s on down days,
will make your portfolio less shit
correct to read,..
will make one’s portfolio less shit
he uses crap stocks like SOL and then after getting horatio claw hammered claims they were a very small portion of his portfolio
I’ve always stated sol was a small position
Could you kindly provide me a link to where you said that Fly?
Here you go Thomas.

My position isn’t large, but big enough to matter. I will not throw too much behind it because earnings plays were designed for the feeble minded gambling class. ”

My position isn’t large, ==> but big enough to matter <==
The assertion proves nothing. Is 1984-style doublespeak a must? Or could one just say what it is and not what it isn't?
Fuck off. Why don’t you go play with some diseased needles?
You have nothing to say, so you attempt to muddy the waters. You are a disgraceful excuse for a human being and should be thrown into a ocean filled with sharks. You represent the very worst of mankind.
I have plenty to say, I’ve posted fundamental commentaries on a variety of stocks that are informative.
That your fragile ego demands constant fluffing is more alarming than amusing.
I’ve never heard an idea from your horse face.
As for my fragile ego, I am merely defending what I consider to be libelous lies against my person. I will continue to punch you in the face until you die.

Now you can fuck yourself, right?
The Fly wins again, even when booking losses.

A tweet for the ages, no? Unless you can bear a sense of humor about these nets you traipse 😉
I guess you are unfamiliar with Scaramouche and how is words caused a revolution.
Once again, you are out of your league.
There is no way the taper comes before the dwarf is fed head. Will the nonstop yapping about it using stooges on tv, stop a May like reaction? That is the only thing that matters.
Just have reason to believe a top has been made
And that 2014 will not continue up from March 09 lows
If I’m wrong. I’ll take the 2nd strike against me…
How does this even make sense?
grammar is correct, has a beginning middle end, facts seem ok
The A in and should not be capitalized.
Your sentence is a run on.
You suggest that a market top has been made, then conclude that 2014 will not continue upwards from March 2009 (assuming) market lows. This is mathematically and logically untrue.
CONVERSATIONAL (TONE)
^ yes meant to be condescending
A normal person would understand the point being made. You make a general statement about logic/math with no explanation
You obviously can’t read and are incapable of reason.
“Just have reason to believe a top has been made And that 2014 will not continue up from March 09 lows”
I’m sorry but I can’t decipher the meaning of this statement. It makes no sense And you are dumb and eat air farts. For lunch.
I think I am going to force registration again
sorry
Nothing to be sorry about. It’s these other people I speak of.
This advice should be ignored. But wake up man! The system will not be allowed to fail. The poor will be given everything they need to not riot. The middle class will be destroyed in the process. The rich will get richer. Why not play along?
Ego
(and legacy) I take the opposite side. Not only believe the system will fail, but should fail. Want to show I was right, historically, and when it falls apart again, I will have 1 seen it coming 2 held view while enduring criticism and ridicule 3 not been a fool like masses 4 played it right (ultimately)
Have fun and happy trading
I doubt you will time the collapse right. It’s never obvious
@ it is sLowtime: if the system were to fail and complete anarchy were allowed prevail what good would your silly stock play be? I love small minded folks who are rooting for the collapse thinking it will be more like a television show and less like a nightmare. good luck profiting from that 250 sigma event.
That is absolutely fucking retarded. That is what you really think? Scary miserable.
Gold and silver are worth as much as the
value of jewelery less production& profit margin. So if the miners can produce and make money in that environment then they can be buys.I do the metals have lost their cachet as a store of value.
cheers
The death of the miners is a trade. Then the rebirth will begin. Nothing goes bankrupt of any consequence in the new normal. Everyone is on every board. The whole game is connected. Jewelers need jewelry. Gold and silver will be mined forever. The miners wil turn. Strange get me out at any price action to start dec. Could be a nice move coming.
Stupid question, maybe:
But isn’t Volcker rule bearish for the markets? Will banks be forced to liquidate risky assets? Or at a minimum, won’t it mean less buyers of risk?
What I mean is, doesn’t this imply a “risk off” environment?
You don’t actually believe that??
Thanks for the reply.
I’m not asserting anything — just asking, because I’m not really sure what the implications are myself. (After all, I certainly AM a n00b!) I just figure that if there’s less market participants, there will be less demand for assets, and hence, lower prices.
Volker rule is gov’t run riot. 800 pages just in the introduction. It’s a travesty. Much simpler to just reinstate Glass-teagall. But you gotta keep those massive congressional staffs employed drafting legislation.
maybe gold and silver stocks, but there certainly is quite a demand for the physical.
silver trade down here will work..control it like anything else
Just saw you posted- the Gators BB are dong well vs Kansas at the half.
I’m actually down here in S. Florida for a few days dog sitting for my son.
The drivers here are maniacs.
Really need to get through the tax selling before going whole hog.
I have nibbled and traded the miners the last several months- in and out (like the hamburger place).
EZ $$ will be made on 12/31- I would look for a 6%+ gain on them.
Now we know why someone bought some of my NSTG NanoString Technologies announces adoption of the Prosigna Breast Cancer Assay by leading US clinical laboratories and cancer centers (14.05 0.46)Co announced nationwide availability of the Prosigna Breast Cancer Prognostic Gene Signature Assay beginning in the first quarter of 2014. Premier national diagnostic laboratories ARUP Laboratories, Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings (LH), and Quest Diagnostics (DGX) have chosen to add the Prosigna Assay to their comprehensive suites of breast cancer diagnostic tests, providing patients treated throughout the U.S. with timely access to a genomic assay that assesses a tumor’s underlying biology and risk of distant recurrence. NanoString Technologies also announced that laboratories at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center and University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center will be among the initial wave of facilities to offer the Prosigna Assay in 2014.
Ha Ha. No one understands the significance of a new assay.
The Fly is right.
Now, that does not mean you can’t short the market here. However, beware of the Yellen.
Gold/Silver have bottoms to put in, until then, trade something that will make you some money.
So you can BANK Some COIN.
Amirite?
After a 2 1/2 year bear market in the gold miners it’s a little late to be turning bearish don’t ya think?
We have put in a blow off top fueled by dumb average joe money.
That said, for the first time since the flash crash of May 2010, I’m seeing some seeds. Those random types of people out in public that you’d never expect to talk about stocks. like the gentlemen from the pizza shop talking about the Baltic index and $100 stocks, but not throwing money in til January.
sorry, meant to say we have NOT put in a blow off top.
I don’t get gold. If it is such a great hedge/insurance policy/magic totem, then why has its price behaved like the price of essentially every other commodity over the last three decades? Moribund until 2000, up from then to the financial crisis in 2008, sharply down during the height of the crisis, up again until mid/late 2011, and down since. Seriously, I don’t see how anyone could plot gold against crude oil since the mid-eighties and convince himself that gold is special.
When commodity prices rise—because of scarcity, heightened demand, whatever—producers undertake higher cost methods to increase supply, which increased supply in turn eventually causes price to fall. This process can take months (e.g., wheat, corn) or it can take years (metals, fuels). High prices also open the door to high-cost, inefficient producers, who go bust when prices fall back to earth. Both of these phenomena are happening now in gold (and silver, and possibly soon in petroleum).
Senor Fly. What did you think of the 38% approval rating going tandem with Kudlow suddenly getting hard leftards as guests? Free market bullshit blah blah meets the messiah minions of tingle town. It was pathetic.
The leftard flat out called the tea party crazies. Kud looked defeated. It was insane.
The old school Kud Report is over. The maniacs from the sister station have laid claim. Looks like fox will indeed take over the biz channel franchise. It was just a matter of time.
I’ve been losing since $450 an ounce.
Duckbox only has 100 year old white men as guests. It is annoying. Are they mocking us?
Lay off the Adderall, kid. You’ll get much further in life without it.
NSTG….fly scores…again…well played and amazing
NSTG….with an upgrade to 18 …Fly ahead of that one by 2 months…very GOGOish
and YELP to 70,,,no doubt
