Happy Father’s Day

As a Father, I empathize with my fellow dedicated Dad’s out there, who work hard to provide a safe, clean, and enriched environment for our children. To me, living life with the sole purpose of having fun or indulging in hedonistic adventures is pointless. When you are young, you should be planning for the future, instead of “living in the now”, as many idiots like to profess.

My children are everything for me. I don’t vacation without them and the wife and I rarely go out without their energy filled presence. They will not be kids forever and my wife and I will have plenty of time later to enjoy self-absorbed vacations without them, when they are adults.

My personal report card on how my life is progressing does not have a category for wealth, stock market success or personal possessions, even though I endeavor to succeed at all times. Get back to me in 20 years, after seeing how my children turned out, and that will be the only thing I will hang my hat on, determining personal success or failure.

Happy, Intelligent and Productive.

I would be sure that my children are ready to meet their maker. ‘If heaven and hell really exist’ This is a harsh reality, so as a father preparing my children so that they know god, and that they have a choice, to me is top of the list. You blog is really good, and nails some really important points, not cutting any of that short.

    A winning post!!!
    Happy Father’s Day to all.
I have two that are out of the house and married and yet it still seems like yesterday when I took my crying daughter to her first day of school and when my son as a six year old asked that I take him to the local golf driving range.

I came back to your post again Senor Tropicana. We were all children one time too, and how very much I miss my father. He was a great man. A great man. And I think of him every day, still, while being dangerously close to the age of not being able to read your blog. I don’t envy much, but good fathers with happy loving children I would change everything in my life for. Including poor grammar and ending sentences with a preposition. Enjoy your fatherhood. You are a very blessed man. Indeud……

I wish my father was still here so I could celebrate his uncanny wisdom. He would have made a great trader as well due to his stone cold evaluation of the facts of life. My kids took me out to lunch today and I hope they always feel the same way about me. Success in the fathering endeavour is priceless. And so are your hysterically funny blogs.

Wonderful, thought out post. You rock…someday I would love to meet you, if you ever visit Bloomberg HQ and personally thank you as my otherwise personal life does not warrant your interest on such a plebian like me.

Again, you rock…but you probably know that already. Long may you shine. And may all good fathers shine to their children…our parents may pass on, but the noble ideals they gave to us live on….

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s out there. Fly is right. Maximize your time with your kids. Before you know it, they are grown and gone. My two oldest are grown and living 3000 miles away on the west coast and I miss them dearly. Enjoy every minute with your kids. My Dad is gone but I think of him often and his influence has made me the man that I am today.

Well said, Mr. Fly. You seem like a good man. Some days I wish we had been able to have children kids or had the guts to adopt. But we can’t/don’t. We will find our legacy but it won’t be children. On the stocks note- why didn’t we just buy GMCR 3 months ago and forget all this daily tick tarding horseshit?

I lot my Father when I was young and was raised by my Grandfather. As flawed as he was, crazier than a fox, he is my idol and is missed every day. My wife and I married on his birthday, in his honor, as my birthday fell on his anniversary.

Thanks Fly for the words of encouragement. I like to think we do treat others with kindness. I could be better though. You know how it is, you’re in a hurry (as usual) running down the freeway and you see some poor soul(s) stranded on the side of the highway but you don’t have time to stop and help. You never have time to stop. I did stop once recently though and it felt good. My wife on the other hand is a sweetheart; definitely my better half.

It is said that a wise man leaves an inheritance for his children. Usually that is taken to mean a material or monetary inheritance and that is or at least can be a big part of that.

Sometimes however, I feel that the greater inheritance is the legacy we leave behind for our kids. Did they see or hear of us taking advantage of or lying to someone? Did they see us help someone who was down and deserved a hand back up? Did they see us “walk the extra mile” with a person in order to show them kindness and compassion and not expect anything in return? …..These are the thing our kids will remember and emulate someday precisely because they run counter to our modern culture and are becoming more rare every day.
We would do well to remember that our example is perhaps the greatest “inheritance” we leave for our children.

Happy Fathers Day to my good man. Carry on!

    Happy Father’s Day you all.

I am proud I hit a political nerve here on IBC regarding election cycle in the pistachio gallery (why else was my fundamental analysis “taken down”). I hope many relevant and influential people read the truth about our current governing administration before it was censored (not without legal right to be sure).

To quote Texas’ Governor Rick Perry: “Stop apologizing and stand proud [to be Americans].”

    OEW Weekend Update:

Currently the weekly RSI is the most oversold it has been in the entire bull market. This suggests stocks are relatively cheap for this bull market. The daily RSI recently reached the most oversold condition it has had since the July and September 2010 bottoms. The daily MACD is quite oversold and in between those two lows. The monthly RSI is currently reaching levels not seen since last years April-July correction. And, the monthly MACD shows little signs of weakening as it should during a bull market.

The wave pattern we have been tracking is a zigzag from the uptrend high at SPX 1371. The first five waves down appears to have taken the form of a diagonal triangle from SPX 1371 to 1312. This is the reason it was quite difficult to determine this choppy pattern. This decline we labeled Minor wave A. The Minor wave B rally was quite sharp and quick as the SPX rallied to 1345 in a matter of days. Minor wave C has been a steady decline as most C waves are. We are counting this decline as four completed Minutes waves: 1306, 1317, 1266, and 1293. Minute wave five either bottomed at SPX 1258, or is still in the process of unfolding. At around SPX 1250 Minor wave C = 1.618 Minor wave A. This happens to be the same relationship that occurred during the Feb-Mar ABC zigzag downtrend. That downtrend ended at SPX 1249. A SPX 1250-ish level or even a bit below would conclude the irregular complex flat from February-June.

Currently we are observing positive divergences, at recent lows, from the short term charts all the way up to the daily charts. This suggests SPX 1258 may have been the low or we are getting close to it. SPX 1258, btw, is within the +/- 7 point range of the OEW 1261 pivot. Should this pivot fail to hold the next pivot at 1240 should provide strong support. Overhead resistance is now at friday’s SPX 1280 high and then the 1291/1303 pivots. Short term OEW charts remain negative and the market will need to clear 1280 to turn them positive again.
