Enough lamenting over the decline of the West, for the West does not buy you new Ferraris. I hope you little bastards appreciate the fortunate position you are in, with money invested smartly in the stock market.
Growing up, Grandpa Fly ran two furniture businesses and was ignorant about the stock market. He spent his money like it was burning his face off. He had several cars, lots of “fancy clothes,” jewelry and lots of high powered friends. He was very active in a Brooklyn political machine, which produced Chucky Schumer from nothing to U.S. Senate.
He went to dinner with the Rockefellers, did business with the Progressos, and eventually lost it all.
He didn’t lose it all because he was incompetent or through bad business dealings. One day in 1983 he woke up blind. The blood vessels in his eyes burst, due to high blood pressure, and that was that. He made furniture and refinished it; so he was of little use without the luxury of vision.
For the next 14 years, until his death, he lamented to me about being “stupid” for losing it all. He was a proud man his whole life, oozing with confidence. He did stand up comedy routines on the side for the Army, during WW2. Then his own personalized Black Swan event took that (confidence) away too, through poverty.
I learned a lot from his plights, specifically about the importance of money and what it means. Contrary to what idiots says, money is EVERYTHING. Without it, your marriage is over. Your happiness is limited. And, your legacy is nil.
The stock market gives you pikers a chance to leverage your bullshit 250k income into something significant, over time. My life is dedicated to making people money. I’ve turned 100k into a million. I’ve taken 500k and transformed it into 1.5 mill over 3 years. Hell, I took a flimsy blogspot site and transformed it into a million dollar enterprise, without spending a single dime of my own, or anyone else’s, money.
I make Kings out of ordinary people, through the gift of positioning and intuition.
Never take what you have for granted. And never be satisfied with what you have. What we have going on here, through PPT, PDS, 12631 and Scotty Bleier will get you there, if you commit yourself to the process. The process exudes success; you just need to want it bad enough.

The Fly is God.
I have no money and haven’t had any for a couple years now, however my marriage has only gotten better, money doesn’t =jesus
Get back to me in 10 years.
He only has to hold his wife in a garrotte-hold, 24-7.
___________
If you need money to keep your wife around you married the wrong woman.
My wife have seen both sides, poverty and wealth, and I can say that our marriage has always been strong.
*wife and I*
You got me, I was hoping you wouldn’t notice my method. I have to say the chloroform I picked up in west virginia helps too…..for when I need to sleep.
I think you’ve pretty much nailed who your God is, Mr. Fly.
It’s not a compassionate God, a forgiving God, or a loving God. It is a God, however.
Amongst all the Gods a man may choose from, your God is just one of many. An infinite number, really.
Your God is like any other God — a creation of your own mind. It is ultimately no better or worse than any other God. All faiths lead to the same realizations, eventually. Some are simply more direct than others.
You will live by the mandates of your God and you will suffer the misgivings, similarly.
Most of human history has lived just fine without your God. Your adoption of this God is perhaps the result of a particular “education” or “path” that was handed to you.
Money makes life easier, assuming you are a purported “adult” living in a full-fledged consumer-driven society that is light-years away from its origins. Money does not make the man. Realizing spiritual freedom makes the man. As I mentioned, some paths are more direct than others.
Maybe you’re right, Money does not bring happiness, But Poverty will definitely bring you MISERY.
To live is to suffer. This is why the Buddha taught the Eightfold Noble Path.
It is quite possible to be rich, and to suffer. Money does not prevent suffering.
Perfect example: international central bankers now need to re-define the entire planet in accordance with their will.
Why? Because being the wealthiest people on the planet is clearly not enough. The human soul thirsts for MORE.
Better known as “the hungry ghost.” This will continue until realization takes root.
Buddha is a chump. His entire philosophy is bent on the one thing that shouldn’t be compromised – the soul.
So you’re entire community is starving? Hey, you should all try to eat less. Why do you want so much. I mean, planting more food doesn’t make any sense, or encouraging those who can take the population out of the gutter…why would you do that. Everyone should just tighten the belt and be happy you’re not dead.
Although, speaking of death, it’s a real bummer, so don’t enjoy life too much, or you’ll adventually feel bad.
Siddhattha was your typical offspring of rich heritage with an ingrained warped view of the world, who suddenly thought he had some specialized insight to life. Not much different than plenty of big names nowadays, like the Hiltons, Kennedy’s, etc. Help me if my own children should prove so useless.
There’s a reason Buddhism hasn’t caught on big in the West. Let it stay in Nepal. To live is divine.
It’s also the most selfish religion. It’s all about the personal journey and lack of feeling anything about it. My sister married a buddist. That ended badly. I wish she would have found someone from a religion that was about serving others. That does bring happiness.
Well having lived around Christian wackos for most of my life I have to say the Thai Buddhists are a much welcome change.
Myabe you have been hanging around the faux Buddhists that got their teachings from a set of self-help videos?
I actually have liked most Buddhists I’ve met as well. Generally keep their heads down, don’t seem to like conflict, and really try not to force their opinions on anyone. I have a friend from Thailand and another from Japan, and they both seem to be pretty happy. I think that’s partly because they don’t follow their religion to the t, and are encouraged to do things at their own pace.
But I’m wary of any religion who’s supreme state is one of a walking corpse.

Money comes in two forms…earthly and heavenly. No doubt, money is of great importance. It is a measure of the accumulation of physical, mental and spiritual energy. The Bible itself, speaks more about money than love.
‘Discoordinated’ has placed his emphasis on heavenly riches, for which he cannot be faulted. Money can buy the appearance of a good marriage, but it can’t buy a truly great marriage. A truly great marriage only comes about from from heavenly riches.
For a really interesting take on money, read (or google) the “parable of the talents”. If you read it closely, it’s the lazy, selfish and self-serving that incur divine disdain. Burying one’s talents, skills and capital, being afraid to work and take risk, earns you much divine criticism and wrath.
The moral of the story is that we are here as a service to God. What we do in life fulfills some cosmic, divine purpose, in the grand scheme of things. Kind of like the butterfly effect, if you will.
inspiring
Thanks Fly!
You da Man!
You, sir, are a capitalist.
A good one, at that!
I agree–never take for granted what you have, and never be satisfied with what you have either. Complacency kills.
But I’ve known a few rich people in my time and I can’t say that having bags of money made them very happy. Sure, not having money sucks (been there, done that) and nobody reading a blog at a website called ‘I Bank Coin’ is going to disagree with that. But I don’t think money can solve all your problems; it may not even be able to solve any of them. It all depends on what your problems are.
One thing money can definitely do is take your mind off them. That’s the backbone of retail.
But my dad, who was a stock broker, who made lots of money for himself and others, who grew up in the Depression in a family that had just enough to get by and always said he could lose it all tomorrow and would be fine because he had learned to live without ‘all the shit people need these days to be happy’, had it all figured out. He said it was the younger generation (i.e. me) he felt sorry for, because we were the ones who needed that shit, or more to the point, who wouldn’t know how to live without it…
I whole heartedly agree. As a self made man, I know what it is like both with and without money.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to not only invest into your retirement fund but also invest into your community and family. Many times that doesn’t even require money.
always said he could lose it all tomorrow and would be fine because he had learned to live without ‘all the shit people need these days to be happy’,
This = the greatness. Because I’ve been there and done that as well. Never participating in the mortgage = personal ATM card craze was the best thing that never happened to me.
According to Hindiusm (ancient Vedic wisdom, perhaps the oldest knowledge on the planet): man ultimately wants three things… to live forever, in harmony in his community, and in bliss (i.e., to be limitless). More info at —

If you’re really smart, you’ll figure out how to meet your deepest needs without having to adopt some roundabout belief system that requires a complete waste of energy to attempt to arrive at the same place.
Then you can trade and make money without having your happiness depend on it. Assuming you were aware you had the choice.
Some would say that’s the only way you will ever.
We all get what we want.
Money is also the root of all evil. Just look at what Wall St has turned into as a result of money and greed.
That’s like saying potatoes are the root of all evil. Except that at least potatoes actually ARE roots….
The LOVE of money, read yer Good Book proper-like, small pleb.

Never said money is happiness. You need more than money to be happy. But poverty is misery.
this is why i come to this site
woah. same happened to gramma jg’s eyes. true story.
sweet post.
Special front page pic.
Your grandpa?
Definitely not somebody you would want to fuck with, that’s for sure.
You’re not kidding.
Great pic!
Now that, is what America used to be all about.
The Irish didn’t come here because they had lots of potatoes back home.
The Italians didn’t leave their happy home because things were great.
Sadly, it seems history may be repeating itself in the next 10-20 yrs.
The one that looks like a boxer, cause he was ( golden gloves).
Thanks for sharing. Great photo and touching story.
Ever feel like he is watching you from glory?
Not really. But that’s just me.
Dude on the right looks like Joe Pesci! (But he was a Jersey Boy, as we now know…)

Thanks Bruce….I was just getting ready to google this one again! Happy Holidays brother $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
same Brother KC Bill ! 😉
I agree with half of those.
That guy is rich, divorced and unhappy. And he will never be happy unless he changes his attitude.
He’s trying to convince himself that he is happy because he has lots of money.
That guy is dead. He was born rich but gave all his money away, all the time.
This is what he had to say on the subject of happiness:
“All I can guarantee you is that as long as you are searching for happiness, you will remain unhappy.”
Madhukar – The first question is, “Are you happy?”
UG – You see; that question never occurs to me. I never ask myself if I am happy or not. For all practical purposes, I don’t think I ever feel happy at all. That’s why I don’t even know what happiness is. Therefore, I can never be unhappy either.
Madhukar – I mean blissful happiness, a blissful state. Are you permanently in a blissful state?
UG – Such a state does not exist at all. There is no such thing! We have been brainwashed for centuries into believing that there is such a thing as a blissful state of eternal happiness. This is utter nonsense. Only a person who believes himself to be in a blissful state talks about his being in a blissful state. And such a person wants to share that blissful state with others. But actually, you have no way of knowing whether you are in a blissful state or not.
Money doesn’t buy you happiness, but it DOES buy you a MUCH higher quality of unhappiness
Just so you know
Good line. i am gonna steal that, if ya don’t mind 😀
Thats Uncle Sonny.
Uncle Sonny… please… please stay away from the Jones Beach Toll Booths!

as in the words of David Lee Roth, “people say money doesn’t buy happiness but it sure will buy a boat big enough to sail right up beside it”
carry on.
Money ain’t everything.
But it beats the hell out of whatever is second.
Great post Fly.
The Grandpa Fly story really shows that what’s most important is your health. Take care of your health, like controlling your blood pressure. Money is grand though, and that’s why I come here.
Without money, you cannot control your health
Nonsense. It costs nothing to control your health. Maybe some generic blood pressure meds. Diet and exercise; cut out or moderate the cigs, drugs, alcohol…. Some bad shit may still happen to you but the odds are more in your favor. Like investing in stocks, the more research you do and more disciplined your trading, the better the odds that you will prosper. Anyway, there is free healthcare if you are on the welfare plantation.
grandpa blind waaaaaah…….
Money can’t buy love, but it sure as hell can rent it.
All true pimps know dat.
Watch the blood pressure Fly.
It runs from generation to generation.
More oatmeal and less salt on the rib eyes.
A great, “fireside chat” from the Fly!
Once again the Fly tells a story from the heart. Awesome!
Wow, and the posts that follow… never knew their were some many
prophets in here!
prophets of profits.
I like FRO for a quick trade right here after their downgrade today given their earnings are still net positive and look decent relative to their peers. Other stocks I’m looking at that have pulled back but remain strong are DISCA, EBIX, and RYAAY (speculative Irish play). In asset management, I like EV as they have been growing their book and reporting profits. Its risk/reward looks good.
These companies have decent sized short positions and have been reporting good results.
The PSUN CEO was on CNBC. (lots of caps there!) He did not sound very confident, or capable for that matter, to me.
Hope he was just under promising and will over deliver. Sounded to me on the conferance call a turn around story.
URRE I have no clue why uranium mining took off but I’m enjoying the ride.
The (Turkey) Gods must be crazy. I knew I should have given back that Coke bottle.
THQI sucking wind.
Have you wondered where I was, just before the turkey was about to come out of the oven for the family celebration a loved one had a stroke, right in front of my eyes, within seconds he was paralized on one side of the body…he recovered all function later, but Fly is so right about life. It’s way too crazy to allow this game to be the end all be all.
Have you wondered where I was
Not really.
It is good to hear your loved one is doing better after a scary situation. I hope he continues to improve. By the way, what color panties are you wearing today?
We stand on the edge of a knife with out current dollar situation. Take heed.
