In the past 2 days,(USO) oil is up about 4%, while smallcaps (IWM) are barely up 1%. I can’t find a bullish angle in that divergence.
At this rate, we’ll need a 8% rally in oil to push smallcaps up another 2%.
All ETFs are scams. IWM is no different. Do yourself a favor, and buy into a real company.
I only use ETF’s when absolutely necessary. For instance in my IRA account when I expect the market to sell-off.

IWM and USO are non levered etfs with extremely high volume. The only scam etfs are the triple levered junk like DRV, and TNA.
My statement was in regards to the price action in the underlying indexes. The old “Oil up/Market up” correlation is dying. That’s a fairly bearish omen.
Levered ETFs are worse than non-levered ones. However, even the non-levered ones are bad investments overall. If you don’t believe me, compare the charts of USO vs the actual price of oil. Or even better, compare UNG to natural gas. Neither are levered, and both have and will continue to underperform their underlying commodity.
What you mean to say is that ETNs that track futures contracts are not a good trading vehicle, for you. To say that all ETFs are bad is extremely ignorant. Read the fucking prospectus.

I never said buy and hold. An upward flowing market is a time to choose the hottest stocks in the hottest sectors in the soon to be future. Rotation and placement are key.
