I posted a pic from Cadillac Summit on my twitter page. Follow my retarded Tweets, via The_Real_Fly.
Anyway, I was in Acadia today, venturing up “Cadillac Summit”, and I felt like I was about to plummet 1,500 feet to a very salty death. The fucking winding road up the side of the mountain was cool as ice, until about 1,300 feet, when it started to get all “hey fuckbag from Brooklyn, you’re about to fall off this fucking mountain right here, retard style” on me. Trying to remain composed, doing a cool 3mph up the “hill from hell,” Mrs. Fly thought it made sense to mock Le Fly with “just make believe you’re in the forest” suggestions, as I made my way up the three mile road to “heaven,” as Mrs. Fly likes to say (damn her). Yeah, that would make sense if my fucking car was not in the clouds. Let me tell you, it certainly did not help when my 7 year old daughter began to repeat “oh my God, we’re all gonna die,” over and over.
Truth be told, it was nothing. I’d ride up that fucking mountain on a unicycle, drunk, while juggling oranges. Once up there, it looked like Mars and shit. After about 10 minutes, I took a leak on one of the big boulders up there, then proceeded to head down yonder for a stupid popper and lobster stew.
I’ve eaten so much lobster on this trip I am started to act like one, snapping at people and shit.
I have a few more stops left on my mini-adventure and will be back at the trading turret, sometime next week.

You need to come out to the one in northern california… good beer and erbs
It is God’s bathroom, after all. Nature, that is.
Lol at the lobster quip. Just tell them Acadia is where Twilight was filmed. Stop the car at random intervals, lower the window, look out and quizzically say, “I think I heard a dog…or something running.”
So Gay….
… lobster stew …

Gotta say … that sounds damn tasty !
You lucky bastid !!!
.
Lobster bisque seems like a superior idea right now.
Spkn of cadillac and, per a recent blog, lexus… having owned a couple caddys in recent years and w/ a chum or 2 who have a lot of lexi…
Soon, caddy will be back on top. Soon.
Have you had any clam chowdah in a bread bowl? Best shit ever.
Helllllll yes
So is this NH?

Why does this iPhone always post double? Wtf?
User error?
Always fun traveling the country.
Is the 1st pic the still in Wood’s backyard or the FTK refinery?
FD I lost $ when I sold my FTK.
Don’t feel you have to eat any more lobster, Fly. Save some for me! I’ll be there in a few weeks. Try the chowdah or some rope-grown mussels (much cleaner and higher quality).
We did that drive when I was a kid, 6 of us in a turquoise Plymouth station wagon. I remember that someone had placed a small sign that said ‘Pray’ at one particularly precipitous curve.
LOL, we need more updates like this. Good luck!
Acadia is nice, but for a real scare you should head further up north to Baxter State Park. Climbing Mt. Katadin there was one of the scariest moments of my life….bad time to learn you are a bit acrophobic.
Word. A friend ‘made’ me hike/climb up&down Knife’s Edge Trail at Baxter. We get to the summit and there is a section of trail 3 feet wide and 75 yards long, with 500 foot drops on either side. The wind was howling, I was crawling this section on my stomach like a snake, cursing his ass out for bringing me to a likely death in this manner.
Rock fucker.
+1
I know exactly what you are talking about. That section of trail was closed the day i was up there because it was too windy and dangerous. From the time i got above treeline, I was literally hugging every boulder i had to scramble over. I kept yelling at my wife “three points, three points”, meaning make sure you are always touching at least three points.
Also, at the beginning of the trail they had this adorable picture of two little girls who had apparently been killed by lightening. I was acutely aware once at the top that i was extremely exposed….when we were on the peak a storm cloud suddenly formed out of nowhere….being about an hour above treeline and with no cover whatsoever, was pretty scary.
I survived though…
Sounds like the trail that runs along the backside of the haystack at the top of Mount Si in Northbend, WA. Or at the top of McClellan Butte, in the Snoqualmie Pass. Or a hundred other trails around here. I’m a crawler, too.
Acadia nAtional park.
When up here, go try trenton’s lobster pound
The wild blueberries should be ripe fairly soon. I recall picking many a berry in the brush up there. Also there are some fresh great clam (when you get sick of lobster) meals at some Mom and Pop places in Southwest Harbor.
Bar Harbor is home to many fine mussels, clams and lobster dives.
New England is great, no doubt. You might consider a week in California for a September or October vacation.
Go to Los Angeles, spend a couple nights in West LA/Santa Monica, and then drive up the Pacific Coast Highway to San Francisco. The PCH drive will take a couple days, wrapping up the week with a couple nights in San Francisco.
I don’t advise trying to cover everything in one trip. Stay out of Orange County and points south, save it for another trip. The PCH to SF is pushing it, but is manageable. California is one magnificent state for natural physical features.
Used to live there. Only thing worth seeing, IMO, is Yosemite, Joshua Tree (awesome desert backpacking and freeclimbing), and anything south of Baja Norte, B.C., Mexico, such as Mulege, La Paz, and San Jose Del Cabo.
Orange County has the best beaches in California. San Clemente and Laguna Beach being the best, IMO. San Diego has some nice beaches, too.
Humboldt County is sure pretty in the fall. Nothing like WA state, though. If you are even thinking of anything north of OC in the fall, WA state is where you want to be. WIne country in the Rattlesnake Hills and Walla Walla, during crush festival.
My little bro got married on Laguna Beach, and I agree w. your assessment. Lives in Carlsbad now, which is not too bad either.
If you’re going to do the SF area, I highly recommend Sonoma County, especially Russian River area (w. the small redwood forest) and one of my favourite towns, Healdsburg, with the jewel Rafanelli Vineyards.

Fantastic ! Your daughter is awesome.
Heights have always given me the all-overs, I hate ferris wheels!
Of course we always joke that their are no mountains out here in the NE, only hills. California has some serious mountains. Glad you are having “snappy” lobster fun AND making “specific” money while on vacation. But it would be a personal favor to me if you did not die, so watch those mountain peaks, will ya?
I saw the pictures you posted and the thing looks like an ant hill to me. Welcome to the Cascades, in WA state —

I will be in Cali early to mid august
California is a beautiful state full of natural wonders, but the people will annoy the shit out of you. If you have not spent time with California-ites before, be aware that they will not understand that you are a winner and they are all losers. They are either Lost Angels (because they live in LA) or they are a bunch of politically correct, tree-hugging wusses who can’t think for themselves. The mountains are pretty awesome although I have never tried to fuck one. 😉
Diver Dan: Shut your pie hole up, clueless idiot.
StocksRider…hahahahaha. I guess you also don’t realize that fly is a winner and you are a loser. Poor you!
Diver Dan,
I vowed to stay away from politics and personal attacks on this site. But I must break my vow. Fuck Off you clueless mook.
I think it is so funny that you are all so sensitive. No personal attack was ever meant on either of you as I am a Californian myself…reformed of course. 😉
California, to me, represents a strong focus on the material side of life. This makes for people who look very pretty and clean, but have no heart and soul. I personally hope the state suffers from a deep depression for 20 or 30 years. It would do the culture there some good. Balance it out a little.
Le Fly Welcome to Cali! I know you won’t but hit me up if you do when you are here
Fuck your mountains
Mr. Le Fly that is some funny stuff.
Reminds me driving in Colorado…the land of statistics.
Another epic – curious story senor Fly.
Prepare for the ICE AGE …. !!!
ROTFL !
This ancient one says Fly has ever been lobsterlike. Didn’t take a downeast hill to develop that hard shell of protection while sucking up other people’s trash from the ocean floor and digesting it into pearls for the unwashed. Thanks Fly, you have saved me from myself on more than one occasion.
I felt the exact same way going up the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. Never again.
China Exports came in, Missed analyst estimates for Imports……..Beat analyst estimates for exports…..no stupid shits it’s not because the world is getting better, it’s because China is doing away with their Export Rebates July 15.(which totally slowed down ore prices last month remember)………………….So now, China is screwed demand is slowing down cuz the Govt is not paying people to buy anymore and THEY have to rise the price of the yuan………hey, hey I KNOW no one gives a fuck but Greece has another bond auction next week and China will probably be buying up Japanese Bonds causing the USD/JPY to continue it’s downtrend cuz they don’t want to be caught hold bunds, etc. This last week China didn’t buy Japanese Bonds cuz of their election this weekend…it will be over and so is this rally. Big money was selling eur/usd into the close while mo mo’s were probably buying long postitions into it…..fwiw
Thank you for your very informative posts. I look forward to reading each and every one.
I sort of cussed a lot, which I normally don’t….I have a longer version of next weeks review in the Peanut Gallery.
are you saying that china is reevaluating the yuan again??? if so how soon?? how much?? do you have a link to post
No I am saying that China is going to be having added pressure to take measures to strenght the yuan, it could be revalue or some other method…what I am saying is that China is caught in a Catch 22 with this data, Stronger Exports with Weaker Imports….it’s sort of what USA may have…deflation with the need to raise interest rates?
But bottomline, this entire rally started with China buying copper and the players said OMG Dr. Copper is telling us it’s global growth. This months import numbers down 3 month in a row….Shipments of copper and products declined 17 percent to 328,231 metric tons in June. That compares with May’s 396,712 tons, and is 31 percent less than 477,220 tons a year earlier….stupid Shanghai Copper bubble is popping finally.
great post — first laugh of the weekend!
I remember having one of those poppers when I was like 12. Good as shit.
Obama to follow Fly’s footsteps next weekend. I wonder if he will also take a leak on the mountain.

As commented, he is entitled to another vacation. Destroying America is hard work.
Diver Dan is an idiot/moron without a doubt.
A friend of mine sent me the links below. They are pencil drawn cartoons describing WWI and WWII. Pretty fucking cool.
World War I Simplified
World War II Simplified
Pretty good.
I noticed a little Batman language (Bam, Biff, etc.) in the WW I drawings.
A+ thanks for the links
Welcome to my world!
Welcome to my world
” After about 10 minutes, I took a leak on one of the big boulders up there….”
The world is your toilet.
How fitting.
It truly is a man’s world when we can pull over by the side of the road and openly “go” behind trees, boulders, car doors and shit, while woman have to scour the countryside for the cleanest rest room to do their bidness.
Better be careful Fly.
If you keep eating all of that shellfish you may turn into one of those Prawns from the District 9 movie.

the fly,
sounds like you might have a need to take a vacation from your vacation
I read this bit of news and immediately thought of Fly. Maybe when he gets back from vacation he can get a real job.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/11/business/11rebound.html?th&emc=th
Fly, I hear you on the mountain driving thing. The better half and I were in California last year for a family wedding and took a week to do some traveling after that event. We drove up to Sequoia Ntl Park to do some hiking around in the big woods. (those trees are definitely a bucket list item)
The wife doesn’t like heights at all and views my driving with the same level of trust most folks hold for Goldman Sachs so I should have known that our chances of relaxing were doomed from the outset.
From the park entrance up to the big woods you climb about 4,000 feet in elevation and as you go up the road winds back and forth, switchback style, with drops of 1,000 feet directly off the shoulder of the road everywhere. Nice. Said shoulder is wide enough in places that 6 ants could march abreast on it. In most places one or two would fall off if they tried it.
Then once up in the park, I said, “let’s go climb Moro Rock”. Another brilliant idea on my part which nearly led to the dissolution of our partnership. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCh4WPnCkiQ&feature=related The guard rails in the pictures came up to about knee height on me. Not very comforting.
We did see a very nice brown color phase black bear and some mule deer up in the park.
For those thinking of visiting Chicago. A new Chicago city ordinance bans gun shops in Chicago and prohibits gun owners from stepping outside their homes, even onto their porches or in their garages, with a handgun. It also:
_ Limits the number of handguns residents can register to one per month and prohibits residents from having more than one handgun in operating order at any given time.
_ Requires residents in homes with children to keep handguns in lock boxes or equipped with trigger locks and requires residents convicted of a gun offense to register with the police department, much as sex offenders are now required to do.
_ Prohibits people from owning a gun if they were convicted of a violent crime, domestic violence or two or more convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
_ Requires prospective gun owners to be fingerprinted, take a four-hour class and one-hour training at a gun range.
_ Calls for the police department to maintain a registry of every registered handgun owner in the city, with the names and addresses to be made available to police officers, firefighters and other emergency responders.
Those who have handguns, illegal under the ban, would have 90 days from the day the ordinance is enacted to register those weapons.
Residents convicted of violating the ordinance face a fine of up to $5,000 and be locked up for as long as 90 days for a first offense, and a fine of up to $10,000 and as long as six months behind bars for subsequent convictions.
Still a great city.
thats why all the smart folks live west of harlem ave. local gun shop, right next door to where i buy gold and silver coins.richard daley, mayor of chicago. is a commie fascist, and needs to be put to pasture. fucking crook, and dictator wannabe.
Making the list of names and addresses available to “other” emergency responders could translate to foreign troops assisting U.S. troops should martial law be declared locally. That is subversive to the intent of the constitution.
The anti-gun folks need to get rid of their fear of guns. I’m curious to know what % of them have actually taken a firearms safety course, let alone even fired a gun. Shooting guns is fun. It’s also an Olympic sport. They should try it.
It doesn’t help that this happened yesterday. A 9 year old boy shot and killed his toddler brother in their own house. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iXNEqk6BSr6gbNIiGKT2eL7OcpngD9GSDUGO1
I think this proves Alpha’s point. Had they taken a gun safety course, they would not have left that weapon unsecured, no?
It’s always the same. Anytime you get rid of guns in an area with crime issues, the crime rates skyrocket. Over and over again, everyplace in the world.
Next time you flip on the TV, watch how much programming is devoted to murder and mayhem with guns. The anti-gun fuckers never think that the programming or the person are responsible. It’s always the gun.
How convenient for the motherfucker international central bankers and their plan for World government and the resulting repression of the individual. Take away the guns and there will be no resistance of any kind.
So true..
That’s why you can’t safely walk at night in most Canadian cities and Brazilian cities have such a low violent death rate.
Guns are fun PLUS they kill other human beings. With guns, you get peace and quiet. It elliminates conflicts. Don’t cross someone with a gun. No more arguing and shit. Only fun, all the times!
Full on blasting freedom.
The point you are cynically attempting to make is erroneous. If what you are alluding to is actually the case, why is the crime rate in Switzerland so low. Everyone in the whole damn country has fully automatic weapons in the gun cabinet. Your logic would dictate that with that type of armament in the possession of the citizenry, the entire country should descend into a huge shootout and the entire population be killed. Obviously there may be other factors which you have possibly failed to consider. Hmmmm?
Canuckistanians have guns, too. I don’t know what he’s on about.
It’s their emergency rooms that are dangerous (MRSA).
________
Stocksrider – Just to be clear. I was born and raised in Southern California. I move to NY from the SF Bay Area where I lived for 10 years. My daughter was born at Stanford. At the time I thought California was the only civilized place in the US. I was very California patriotic and was initially shocked by the lack of political correctness on the East Coast when I moved here. But I have come around the culture here. There is something much more honest about it, and I have decided that all my tree hugging friends in California are milk toast. It’s still an incredibly beautiful state, though there are parts of LA I would stay away from.
Hiking is stupid. I can think of better ways to die.
They can also be a bit insecure. Sensitivity is actually the culture out there. Not that you could tell that from their overly sensitive comments. LOL!
Did I mention that I am a Californian myself? I reserve the right to make fun of my own kind. Maybe in this case, the sensitivity has something to do with the crazy market hours a trader has to keep when he lives out there. I certainly get more sleep in NY with the more reasonable hours. Sleep has added greatly to my self esteem…..
No wait, that’s not right, The PPT has added greatly to my self esteem…yes, that’s it!
Maybe in this case, the sensitivity has something to do with the crazy market hours a trader has to keep when he lives out there.
LOL. Three hour time difference is nothing. Try trading from Sakhalin Island in Russia with its magnificent 15 hour time difference to NYC. You gotta be hard to pull that off. Bangkok with an 11 hour time difference is no slouch either.
I think I need to put in for a transfer to Brazil.
Ozzie J is from Australia, as you may have picked up. He’s constantly calling me at 4 am his time.
He’s almost completely nocturnal, and maintains a pretty cool head about it.

Welcome to MDI. Enjoy the views, have fun, tip lavishly and GTFO.
You should try driving the road the summit of Mt Everest.
The drive coming out of the mountains from San Quentin to San Vincente, in Baja Norte is wicked crazy. A great place to die. I’ve seen a few head-on collissions and dead people laying all over the road. People become cactus food.
Climb Cadillac, don’t drive it. And, if you have the cojones, climb the Precipice. It will be sure to spice up that lobster roll afterwards. I enjoy your stuff. Keep doing it.
Seek2k (slightly north of 471/2)
Be brave sir,
Most of us(me) love lobster but can rarely afford it. Me, its about the cheap fajitas and presidente margaritas.
Bman, are for or against guns?
Here in texas over half a million texans own conceled gun permits.
The criminals, if their lucky, get prosecuted. You see its not good to rob or plunder in the lone star state, you might get dead fast.
Our prosecuting team has a 90% conviction rate. Crime goes to louisiana or to oklahoma to fester, not so much here.
