You know this, but for all the other posts….There is a good chance the disks were rusted. It can happen very quickly if they get wet and sit. Have your car washed lately? It comes right off when you use them. Sometimes the rear disk brakes have a drum component for the emergency brake, but it definitely sounds like they were trying to milk you. If you do need to replace them, it would cost about $100 if you do it yourself versus what? $1200 at the dealership?

Your Lex has small drum brakes inside the hub of the rear disc brakes. The disc brakes are for stopping, the drum brakes are your parking brake.
The disc/drum is made of uncoated steel, and typically rusts as a matter of course. Nothing to worry about unless they wear thin or warp.
