Was amused by Fly’s answer on my question if PPT scores of Indiv stocks are updated thru out the day. Correct, you can’t have a total without the sum of the pieces…just wasn’t sure the pages were refreshed…..For tonight, China comes back after our HUGE rally and is flat and could close down maybe? Steel Stocks in Shanghai Comp are the weak play. For Shanghai Futures, Copper is up a bit, but nothing compared to what we did over the last 3 days…Eur/USD is back under 1.2300 and we haven’t even got to see the Spanish Bond Sale or how Happy they are going to be w/BP…..could be interesting night.

Ya in some ways you are right. But i was brought up with rich dad poor dad sernario. I watch how each one has lived his life.
The poor dad is a happy person in general enjoying all the simple things in life, and has a secure place in heaven, however the few traits you commented on has shown up from time to time and not encouraging. The rich man worked hard and became rich and has come to the end of his life an unhappy alcoholic, with no belief in god. Life can be hard either way. Growning up hard to know which way was best.
If i had to pick one. My poor dad because he was rich in spirit.

Poor + happy people can be very cool.

Poor + bitter + resentful people w/ a chip on their shoulder and a feeling of entitlement are terrible (see: “most liberals”).

As an aside, the longer this BS market goes without plunging, the more violent that inevitable drop is going to be.

The $20 billion trust may not go to the poor.
Those who are affected in the area have to file for and proof that
they are affected, while the money sits in Uncle Sam’s account
and collect interest. Who gets the interest ?
      The government !!!
And there are some native americans who may never be able to proof they were
living in the area affected, and they get fucked.

When a person is conceived they are having sex with both of their parents at the same time… think about it 😉

Since Jesus was an immacuate conception, he was deprived of such experiences.

Breadth is still going up… this unobstrusive rally will continue for a few weeks. Good time to load up.

Nepal is full of people who are dirt poor, but who are very spiritual and happy. Lack of material wealth need not be associated with unhappiness — this is something we are taught,

In the US, we equate lack of material wealth with spiritual poverty, and act according to our programming. We live in a planned society.

My problem with poor people is that they think money will solve all their problems and make them happy. Rich people however, realize that hope was delusional.

Money or no, you are still stuck with the same ol’ problems, give or take a few foot callouses and/or more or less white teeth.

Depends on why you got rich in the first place. If you’re truely rich, you’re more than just materialistically wealthy. If you get wealthy because you actually want to make the world a better place and you see humanities responsibility to leave it a better planet when you die then you left it, you’re going to experience far more joy becomming wealthy knowing that you are making the world better. You think Steve Jobs helping being a part of bringing greater innovation to the world isn’t absolutely thrilled in spite of his cancer?

Thee true disease is a “take” and “entitlement” mentality whether it be from rich or poor. Although it’s probably much more common in poor people because they only understand lack.
      For example

Person A who understands that the way to everlasting wealth is by giving. There are certain things on the creative plane or on the emotional plane. Things like love, creativity, innovation. These things are unlimited and if you give it, you get more of it. If you give humanity a better life, the whole world experiences more, and you, as a part of that experience will benefit.

Person B sees the world in a way that he must tke before someone else takes from him. This person will forever be poor at heart.

Person B is a caveman throwing a rock at someone’s head and taking his meat. Or someone running into the water to try to grab a fish that someone else was about to catch and in turn scares off all the rest of the fish.

Person A is someone that builds two fishing nets, gives one to someone else, and uses one himself and collects 10% of the fish that the person he gives the net to gets.

If you become person A, you are someone that no matter the fact that the person B’s of this world say about you, no matter how little they understand the world is better because of you. Those that understand it appreciate you. Regardless of who appreciates you, you get to not only enjoy a richer world as a result, but people will gladly, willingly share in their wealth for a peice of yours. If you build them a net that helps them get twice as much food, they’ll gladly pay you 10% of that food, which you can trade for better things to make better inventions to make the world better.

There are many poor people in countries where they never have learned of opportunity, but would gladly willingly work to help the world produce more in exchange for food.

On the other hand, there are a lot of gambling degenerate addicts out there that could have everything and they would bury it in the ground, or waste it on their compulsions and addictions.

Ultimately who you want to be and how you want to act and what attitude you want to have will influence the life that you live. As long as you’re alive for awhile, you might as well make it a good one.

Reminds me of a true story I read of a Buddhist monk who visited an old Buddhist teacher who was still imprisoned by the Chinese, after many years. While in the most destitute conditions imaginable — poor food, beatings, barren cold cells — the teacher became enlightened. He saw nothing but paradise in the squalor he was living in.

That’s a wonderful story thanks. I don’t know if I would consider that man truely “wealthy” if he’s trapped in a cell and has to delude himself to be happy, but that’s just me. You can’t deny that he’s found a way to acheive bliss and have everything while at the same time having nothing. Certainly he did the best he could with everything he had, and really that’s all anyone can ever ask of anyone regardless of circumstances.

“Seek not to cut the root of phenomena, but to cut the root of the mind. If you have to cross a field covered with thorns, and you try to cover the field with leather, you won’t succeed. It is far simpler to cover your feet with leather.”

some of the greatest bliss I have seen in people are when they are fighting Cancer, etc…..I guess like the Monk your true self comes out and nothing else really matters. For life I am a big believer in finding ones passion which is priceless…it has nothing to do with money, etc……I guess maybe the Monk found his passion in the survial of his self? I have seen very rich people doing something in life that they don’t like to do….they become bitter, mean, etc………..mostly it is the Average worker that is doing what they don’t want to…that is why FLY imho sees that pattern. A simple Shoemaker who’s passion is making shoes…..if given billions of dollars, education, etc and forced to give up all life passion doing something he totally dislikes will become bitter….did I mention I live in Calif….passion rules.

Smart man. Happiness really is= married to the right woman, have kids who you can control,
have no debts, and have a job, and no big dreams. HAVE NO DEBTS means no unnecessary bills.
Today USA, those bills include car payments, mortgage (if you are unlucky like me), and a credit card.
Most guys in China don’t have a credit card, as no banks would give it to them.
They are happier, with earning 10% what I make a year.

That’s your definition of happiness maybe or the things that you have anchored emotionally to happiness. You are basically applying your belief system and attaching it to everyone else’s assuming their mental perception of reality is the same which isn’t true. Do you think a single man can’t be happy? Tell that to a buddist munk who acheived “nirvana”. Kids you can control? if that’s what you want why not buy a dog instead. If you don’t like the dog you can get a new one, but kids you are “stuck” with. You can tell them to sit and roll over and play dead all you want. Why the heck do you need to control other people to be happy? that’s ridiculous. Happiness is a state of mind. That’s internal. The external world is only a reflection of your thoughts, attitudes and beliefs that shape your actions that lead to your circumstances whether it be middleclass, poor, or wealthy. The wealthy (who actually enjoy their wealth and aren’t the miserable grumpy old men in a Mercedes yelling at everything that moves) gnerally get wealthy because they have superior attitude, thoguhts and belief that lead to their superior circumstances. On the other hand a lot of that does have to do with opportunity, and certainly there are those that if they had the opportunity would be wealthy, and those that if they didn’t have the opportunities that they had would be poor. But that’s only a small part of the equation.

Planned society? Wtf does that mean? Dont be deluded into thinking power comes by one person or even a few, power is the cultural narrative, it comes from the community not a single person. Didnt you read Foucault in college? Example, The fly maybe a genius and truly powerful however his power comes by us not by being powerful. If tomorrow we all left his mighty internets, da fly’d wield a lot less power no?

Study advanced yoga or Haitian Voudou sometime. Westerners are generally ignorant of what a human being is truly capable of. We’ve handed this power to authority figures presented to us by the media and in school — it’s makes for a good corporate consumer economy. That’s why the US is such a nation of man-pussies. White men don’t even have puberty rituals anymore. Our “men” regurgitate the pre-planned methods of activity designated by the media, and then they wonder why they are depressed and have addictions to sex/porn (escapism). Being a man is being a free thinker and not borrowing any thought that came before you.
