As the new ice age sets in, thanks in large part to the invention of “the Hummer” automobile and the onset of global warming, it’s fucking cold outside. It’s not just cold here in NYC, but everywhere else—worldwide (sans hot places like Africa and shit).
Some poor people in Europe use encyclopedias to warm their homes, via a good old fashioned book burning. However, here in the states, we like to enjoy the luxuries of natural gas. As predicted, natural gas has risen from the grave and is now actively eating the brains of retards who short it.
To play this development, you can bore yourself to “red hell” and buy [[UNG]] . Or, if you’re like me (and I know you are), into making lots of money and shit, you can buy some individual equities.
Some of my favorite natural gas plays include: Arena Resources, Inc. [[ARD]] , GMX Resources Inc. [[GMXR]] , Ultra Petroleum Corp. [[UPL]] , Range Resources Corp. [[RRC]] , Southwestern Energy Company [[SWN]] , SandRidge Energy Inc. [[SD]] and EnCana Corporation (USA) [[ECA]] .
Howsoever, if gambling is your middle name and you like to bet on the ponies, like a degenerate OTB guy, take a peak at Natural Gas Services Group, Inc. [[NGS]] , NGAS Resources, Inc. [[NGAS]] , W&T Offshore, Inc. W&T Offshore, Inc. [[WTI]] and Endeavour International Corporation [[END]] .
Additionally, parts makers are always work a look, particularly when commodity prices rise. Within the space, I like Weatherford International Ltd. [[WFT]] , Dril-Quip, Inc. [[DRQ]] , CGG Veritas (ADR) [[CGV]] and of course Flotek Industries, Inc. [[FTK]] .
On a separate note, with the jobs market on the mend, don’t forget to put [[MWW]] at the top of your long term idea list. Other staffing plays worth a looksy are Robert Half International Inc. [[RHI]] , TrueBlue, Inc. [[TBI]] , Manpower Inc. [[MAN]] and good olde fashioned Paychex, Inc. [[PAYX]] .

PNY is situated right in the heart of what Dr. Cane is saying should be the coldest part of winter. We both own positions.
Nice suggestion.
CVE is a Canadian NG play – it could be taken out too. Jobs no. Friday could be a shocker to the upside – just a chance. China is almost Dotcom II – gotta have some Chinese.
Thank you for your expertise, Fly.
I hope your morning workout was nice.
I took the week off, due to the influx of New Year fatties flooding the gym.
I hate that; New Year’s resolutions. Fear not, the resolutions will die and the people will be there no more, in very short order.
2 weeks… that’s how long it takes them to realize their $600, non-refundable yearly membership was a total waste of money because they are just too god-damn lazy to exercise.
“work a look”
is this the newest oriental dance move?
I’m out of the loop….

Anybody want half-frozen oranges,grapefruits?
My son just teed off about an hour ago in the second round of a tournament and it was pretty cold. Doesn’t bother him much though (especially for a Florida boy) as he won one last year while there were snow flurries hitting the ground in Pensacola area.
I prefer whole frozen.
I will probably call Tropicana/Minute Maid up the road (the real Tropicana) in a few days and they will come out and pick them before they spoil and pay me by the bushel.
I used to ship them out of state to friends and relatives but a few years ago they prohibited shipments because of stuff like citrus canker disease.
By the way you haven’t lived until you have eaten a Red Naval -cross between a Ruby Red Grapefruit and a Naval Orange.
I’ll plant some next time I’m at the house in Flagler.
That Red Navel sounds ludicrously good. I wish we could get them up here in the Great White North. On the plus side, the temperature is finally back up into negative single digits.
I think you mean it is “just less cold”
Is he sponsored by anyone?
Not now cash wise, although Ping and ,Bridgestone supply him with his equipment and stuff for free.
Hasn’t done Q-school yet since he just got out of college but plans are to give it a shot in the Fall. Trying to get in some Nationwide events this year is also on the schedule.
Maybe an iBankCoin logo on the bag in a few years?
How sweet would that be?
Get him an iBC hat… if he ever gets up there in a tournament and gets on the tube…. people will be going “WTF is that??”

This must happen.

Fed buying S&P futures??
That website is from the looney bin.
Cramer sucking my dick, via eqix at 110. And, you got to love coco, into this squeeze environment
While I like the space (we are doing a lot of work in it), I am somewhat concerned with the larger Ricardo Montalban-ish names like (rich) Corinthian.
Just got a PE newsletter e-mail this morning talking about how portfolio-heavy so many of the PE firms were with this sector. That connotes something of an “oversupply” situation which may need to get worked out.
Could mean good things for COCO in the future, due to cheaper consolidation opportunity, but it could also connote increased competition for the on-line Edu-dollah.
____________
I’m certain if anyone calls him on $EQUIX he’ll deny he ever disparaged it and would also likely say he’s loved it all along. That’s the kind of douche he is.

Also, after a KFT 5% rally yesterday, he upped the CEO to the top of his “wall of shame”…oops, KFT is on the verge of BTFO today.

You called it above that $1.80 level I believe. Nice…… though I’m still underwater a little on it.
KC is war zone….blown thru the snow budget…..had to physically remove 1,000 dump trucks of snow in downtown.
5″ blast coming in this afternoon……than 40 mph winds and with chills -30 tonight. Good times
Even we’re supposed to get 3-5″ or so in Pitino-ville.
The hordes are paralyzed w. fear, as per usual. I expect there won’t be a loaf of Wonder Bread left on the shelves by nightfall.

I bought into SD on your prediction of a turnaround in natty last month. I appreciate your very accurate predictions. There will no doubt be massive consolidation through M&A as nat gas continues its run. All of these companies are highly levered in debt. Any idea why SD has such high volume today? The rest of the space is down 1% or so with anemic volume, however, SD is keeping around unch and has very high volume.
Well, I did a little investigation and found 2 unusually large trades. Both came across in giant blocks.
Rec. Time Action Price Volume
10:06:45 AM Trade 10.45 864000
10:05:48 AM Trade 10.45 178600
Those account for over a million shares on a day of only 3.2 million shares traded. Basically, a non-event.
Le Fly:
Can you verify this if true or not:
Consider the comments of former Clinton advisor George Stephanopoulos who verified the existence of the PPT in an appearance on Good Morning America.

For the degenerate gamblers out here: NXY
Natgas (among others) take over play
Great balance sheet. everything looks right but the stock won’t go higher. often recomended by analysts here in CADland but the thing just won’t go higher. which makes me think the mng must be shit or something. somethings’s not right but the assets are GREAT. so they just need big chinese pockets to come in and buy it.
Today’s word of the day is” connote.”
lol.

BTW — I notice you don’t use the “reply” button very often, but rather post anew below. Is that because the “reply” is not showing up on you iPhone?

Like Chuck Norris, “The Fly” does not use the Reply button. He posts anew.
added more CREE this morn.
Cree is a MONSTAH.
Like Veeco too. Might have to do a Ghostbusters II-themed post on them…
_____
cree is trading ridiculously light—up 2 bucks on a BAC upgrade—after what has been a monster run.. Earnings out in two weeks, post expiry. If it beats, cree could be one of those high flyers which jump big on the report. Veco nicely levered to televisions and their catalyst is they did not give any guidance this quarter so could really get interesting if they report a good Q.
If LEDS become a favorite sector, the lack of pure plays in the space could take the stocks on a dot-com like run. One day, almost every lightbulb in the world may be LED…I view CFL like dial-up and LED like broadband. Whether smart or dumb luck this thesis has worked.
also, keep an eye on Palm tomorrow if they have a good CES presentation you could get a NICE pop in the stock.
cree’s intraday chart is one I think Chart addict said once is his most reliable pattern.
caught in the fear vs. greed conundrum—some 60 jan calls….
How about some 2010 predictions similar to the past two years? Also a link to the 2009 predictions would be nice. If I’m remembering correctly you nailed at least a few of them.

established position in LNG, average basis $2.62 this morning
Nice …. been watching LNG with thoughts of rolling out of DPTR into that one, OMNI looks good to.
OMNI is on my radar too. I expect to be done with LNG by the end of the day.
GAZ may suck less than UNG.
This is a watermelon market.

Meester Fly
In 2010, please consider providing a “printable version” feature for IBC, so that we can print out and save nicely formatted hardcopies of the valuable blurbs that you and your cohorts put out, as well as the amusing banter which follows.
Muchas gracias.
love the complete lack of due diligence here…
just throw out a bunch of names in a bull market…
mention only the ones that worked in later posts…
Great strategy. At least nobody here’s shorting like the tried-n’-true dipshits of bloggerworld.
Look, you baboon’s backside, Le Fly gave the one actionable piece of advise any trader has needed early last year. This is a long only market.
Why don’t you do some DD instead of flinging feces at the nearest computer monitor?

VIX = $18.47
Pete Nagarian[sic] should be very aroused tonight
Pretty amazing. It’s hit exactly on that support line ($18.78) that I drew on Sunday night.
