iBankCoin is Hiring and Other Stuff

The recession has not affected the wallets of the Godly folks (me) at iBankCoin, mainly because our overhead is almost zero and I pay my bloggers less than the ancient Roman minimum wage. At any rate, I want to  “tab” another blogger. However, this person must have experience and be able to blog during market hours, unlike some of the lazier fuckers who take up space here.

To decide who gets the coveted spot of “tabbed blogger,” we will be holding “Trials and Executions,” whereby each contestant will be voted off or executed, until there is only one remaining. A battle to the death/last man standing, if you will.

Now, if you want to become our next tabbed blogger, please throw your hat in the ring, via a post in the Peanut Gallery. In addition, we will allow all applicants to buy ad space (dirt cheap, $10), in an effort to campaign or smear your fellow applicants. All ads will remain on iBC until another contestant buys one to replace it.

May the best or shadiest man win.

NOTE: From now on,  if any tabbed blogger on iBC goes dormant for more than 32 hours, punitive measures will be taken, fyi.

If you enjoy the content at iBankCoin, please follow us on Twitter

May the most arrogant motherfucker win. I could blog all day theoretically but who needs to read a blog about “Some Dude” who just buys stocks based on random tweets or anything that “The Fly” is interested in?

Who knows maybe this ignorant public would enjoy watching Some Dude put money on things based on random tweets from other losers around the globe.

LET THE MOST ARROGANT MOTHERFUCKER WIN.

    Tips hat, good day gentlemen.

P.S I nominate some of the dudes that tend to talk a lot of shit in your comments. Let’s see how they can take the heat in hells kitchen.

P.P.S This method is awful democratic; I’d expect something more dictatorial.

And I was dead last in that election.

By the way, does being a tabbed blogger give any discount to the PPT? (Like 100%)

Also, like last year, all contestants will try to gain the support of other tabbed bloggers, in order to curry favor to their respective readers.

A tip of experience to anyone who enters the ring – make sure you don’t question The Fly’s “operational imperative”.

    It can be a disaster.

Wood, of course I remember how could I forget you supporting the most left field of all of the contestants.

When I look at how far along Alpha’s posts have come, it’s clear he’s deserved his top perch.

    Alpha is top shelf.

Unlike many bloggers I’ve seen come and go, he did not explode out of the gate, only to lose in the stretch.

Instead, Alpha has been slowly but surely building up momentum.

So…… a full time would literally be …… every time during the day posting as much as you. you do realize that the best traders do not day trade but swing trade and therefore intraday analysis is almost garbage but partly useful….. to hell with it i will give some analysis and give it a shot, but forewarning my summer may or may not be busy with work. although intraday is useful to show building of positions, but most people dont give a shit about that but rather whether you are bullish bearish or sitting on a lump of greenbacks. i’d say two words. If you want something different than the already excellent technical analysis supplied by current ibc bloggers …. I can do very different. Too bad I’m working on Mondays and Thursday afternoons now, couldn’t blog then.

or maybe y’all could just paypal me direct for some quality, one-on-one trading “inspiration” … just kidding…

hey, I meet lots of unspoken ibc qualifications: mouthy, bitchy, lots of street cred, trading stocks gets me really turned on, very well read, heart of gold with marshmallow interior, easy access to weapons… and did I miss anything??? oh yeah, lots of business experience.

Lady G was banned? When? How?

fly, here’s my advice for what it’s worth. Get rid of the entire top row. They’re lacking a talent for both interesting writing and saying anything that will make your readership money.

Keep that Alpha dude perhaps, but with a warning that his best isn’t necessarily what a demanding readership is looking for. Start a new line up.

Also get a perma bull onboard instead of the suicide inducing lot blogging now. You want someone with some sort of natural optimism about life that’s almost touching even if innocent.

I says Gint deserves a shot and if he refuses your request then ban him too.

Offer the Dog a shot. The readership needs someone to hate and detest which makes him a perfect fit for that sort of role.

My head is still spinning from last night’s multitasking of commenting here in between reading a book in Spanish. The book was Sin Tetas No Hay Paraiso, the basis for the hit telenovela of similar name, hence all the silly boobage jokes.

I will begin blogging in a more serious frame of mind in the PG later today.

    For those of us Spanish-challenged:

Sin Tetas No Hay Paraíso (Without Tits There Is No Paradise)

The story is based on a young girl, Catalina, who lives in Pereira Columbia and becomes obsessed with getting breast implants in order to overcome poverty. Catalina decides to become a “prepago” (prepaid), a prostitute who has sex with drug traffickers in exchange for gifts, money and social status.

    Campaign promise number one:

If elected to Tabbed Blogger position, I promise to give a rotating guest blogging spot once a week to other ibc posters who complement my skills and enhance the ibc site, i.e. are skilled at trading in areas and ways that I am not.

For example, a guest spot for a currency trader would be first on my list, perhaps on the Mondays when I am off working at my job for a local charity, sadly during market hours.

Campaign promise #2: I promise not to inflict my musical taste via youtube music videos on the godly posters at ibc, and there will be no posting of cute kitten pictures either.

adding, thanks Zen 🙂 the book and the novela on Telemundo were based on real events, unfortunately.

I nominate Slim, for this truism alone.

And J, all due respect, and you probably have no bigger supporter on this thread, but no one trades for 100 years, and it’s pretty well established that bulls and bears come in cycles lasting 17-18 years apiece, some more severe (in highs and lows) than others.

Most cycle traders are well agreed that we are somewhere in year 9-ish of a 14-17 year bear super cycle — within which there will assuredly be minor bull cycles (a la 2003-2007) — and that we should be trading with an eye towards bear breakdowns.

So yes, never be “perma-anything” but it’s wise to be apprised of trends along multiple time periods, and to know which super cycle you are trading within at any given time.

    308 —

As I may have mentioned in the past, it’s the Canuckistanian politics that incite my ire, and it’s mostly because so many American lefties look to them as some sort of enlightened beacon for us to follow — along the lines of the Euros.

That said, I have never met a Canuckistanian I didn’t end up being fond of, and having done three deals in Canada over my career thus far, that’s saying quite a bit (you don’t often make friends across the aisle in M&A transactions. Quite the opposite, in fact.).

Now, the above may be biased, because most of these Canucks — even if of a liberal bent — were bidness men, with a modicum of “Commonwealth” common sense, which I think is a vestige of Pre-WWII Great Britain. For example, I can’t see any of them being supportive of speech restrictions like the recent Canadian “Human Rights” tribunals have set forth. Nor can I see them being against free trade in the NAFTA sense. So I may not have been exposed to the “full spectrum” as it were.

Also, to a man, any of them who were over 50 were scared to death of their own health system. Again, this is a very self-selected set, so I may not have seen “the other side of the coin” (one good example — they were mostly men!).

To summarize, you’ll likely note I only get on the Canucks here who start shitting on the U.S. Sure, some of that is defensive, but some is in seeking a truer comparison. I happen to think freedom — even if it means that every ache will not be cossetted — is a better plan than state paternalism for a people. I think the “American Experiment” has proven that theory thus far.

I won’t apologize for standing up for my country, even as some characterize such actions (in a knee-jerk, lazy fashion, I’d posit) as “jingoistic.” I think history proves that we’ve got a model here that still deserves emulation — despite the increasingly statist road blocks that have been thrown up in her progress. The coming years will be trying times for all of us, but I think they will be far worse if we give up on the ideals of free commerce and “bottom-up” government of the sovereign individual.

FWIW — I think there’s probably a lot of people in Calgary who would agree. 😉

    _____

Mr. KC — thanks for the kind words. I do cherish my role here as “gadfly,” and would likely have to tone that part down were I to become a member of the “Establishment.”

BTW my pitch to become the tabbed blogger will not be based on the same skills already shown by the most excellent current ibc bloggers and posters. I mean really, who could be *better* than a team comprised of Alpha, Fly, Shed, ChartAddict, Gio, Danny, Jake and Cuervos? That’s not humanly possible for me.

What I offer will be based on my 15 years of experience as a professional and paralegal in the field of pension plan design, tax legislation, review of pension asset portfolios, etc. Who else do you know that wants to read and assess the potential effect current and pending tax legislation searching for the unintended loophole or effect on large publicly traded companies? Along the way I was a branch office manager for a regional stock broker pre Internet days. Nowadays I make my living in online retail, and never fail to give the heads up on the trends prior to investment news outlets.

Yes, I am too old for this site, but I would never let such petty concerns hold me back. Hah!

My approach to stocks is to take a macro view of the economy and sectors, and then find and analyze companies within the desired sectors whose stocks display certain positive technical indicators with certain other added attractors. I do not day trade.

My first proposed guest bloggers are: the infamous “j” to discuss his forex trades, and Cuervos so that he can expound further on more chi-scores or z-scores or whatevah mathematical issue has gripped him – the dude is very, very smart.

I sincerely doubt boobs will enter into my campaign.

“I am not looking for great day trader. I want someone who knows how to write, without excessive grammatical errors and who will bring a unique perspective to ibc.”

    1. I am not looking for a great day trader.

Rebuttal: I can confidently say I’m a horrible trader on all levels. Exempli gratia – The worst trade of my life happened just this past Perihelion whereas I traded my most prized possesion away for an almost 1/2 carton of Skydancers and a DuPont Rainbow Warrior cap featuring a fake embroidered signature of none other than Mr. Jeffrey Michael Gordon himself.

The item I traded was a vintage Nintendo Entertainment System (commonly known as NES) circa 19 and 90 featuring an exhaustive library collection of some three titles, headed up by the perennial classic, Tecmo Bowl. What was super-special and in my mind gave this particular gaming cartridge such a unique quality was that it never needed a blow-job.

It was sent down from The Heavens, a Manna if you will, so that I could use Bo Jackson and his incredibly talented multi-sport ass to rip opponents pooper-shoots clean-off with much delight. (Editors Note: This paragraph is not intended to be of a gay nature for those here that might get offended/aroused.)

So in conclusion – as you can tell, I have this category wrapped the fuck up – you other blow-weeds can stand down -immediatlio.

I will begin, in earnest on penning parts II and three post haste, but as you know this is all a formality.

Re: “Nor can I see them being against free trade in the NAFTA sense”, and “I won’t talk shit about my country”

First of all, most Canadians will talk however they like about their country/government where they see a problem because they have learned from intelligent Americans like Howard Zinn who say wicked shit, eg. “Patriotism does not mean simply going along with what your Government does, but Patriotism means supporting the principles for which? your Government is supposed to stand.”
While a ‘jingoist’ is more along the lines of the “My country, right or wrong” forgetting/ignoring/not knowing what that historically has brought.
As for NAFTA, or even the more egregious ammendment to it NIMLA, which essentially strip governments of any sovereign ability to legislate what their constituents may deem prudent or necessary: what healthy/lusty/virile/democratically-minded North American wouldn’t rail against such an onerous document? Shit balls, under that ill-begotten agreement Canada is obligated to send 70% of all the Natty and Oil it produces south, even if OPEC suddenly shuts the taps to this continent and leaves Canadians short. Right now Canada has to import oil to meet its own demand, despite the fact it produces more than it uses. And if the highly fucktuated price of oil goes down, too bad, Canada has to turn Northern Alberta into Mordor below cost, and Canadian taxpayers have to foot the bill (See ‘Steady Eddie’, premier of Alberta).
It wouldn’t be so bad if Canada’s main partner in the deal wasn’t incessantly reneging on their side when it’s convenient for their own industries, and then using their easily printed FIAT currency to fund lobbyists who drive wedges into Canadian’s most valued/covetted services, like Universal Health Care. Which, I am sorry Jakegint, every civilised nation in the world has been able to provide without destroying their economies. And it has problems, sure, but they are dwarfed by the US’s failings with its oxymoronic idea of ‘for-profit’ health ‘care’.
IE If a Canadian’s tax dollars get wasted going to help someone cure their ‘sniffles’, they don’t feel half as bad as if their tax dollars were being used to simply waste ppl. so that Halliburton can get its pipeline finished. A trillion dollars buys a lot of bandaids, but in the US, only the banks can use them when they bleed. Doesn’t that make the US sort of ‘Socialism for the uber-wealthy’?

    As to:
” I think history proves that we’ve got a model here that still deserves emulation ” I think some South American, Asian, Pacific, ME nations might have some good arguments against that one. Unless of course you consider violent Corporate Imperialism via Manifest Destiny and the Monroe Doctrine policies beneficial to composing a ‘model that deserves emulation’.

That said, most of the Americans I have met have not been mean-spirited, just carefully kept very very ignorant and distracted by all the hocus pocus and abracadabra of their polyarchy. Which Canadians, to a lesser degree (there are less of them), are almost as guilty. And I also believe that it is possible to have trade between nations that are beneficial to all parties, NAFTA just isn’t it. Free market is, I agree, the best economic system, but only when it serves the people, not when it turns the people into its servants.

Easter Sermon – “The Fall of Man into Indebtedness”

In truth, the man of Earth lives a life that does not deserve to be called life in the true sense.

And when man once compares his untrue and purely material life with the true life, which he could easily acquire and live, a deplorable wretchedness would well up inside of him.

Even though it conforms with the truth that every life stems from the Creative BEING and is truly existent in it alone and always one with it, every man must first become conscious of this, so that this great truth can become fruitful for the individual being, and so that all can be grasped through the thinking of man and can live steadfast in this consciousness.

The following serves as an example: A dog lay chained before its hut for years, and for years, it had the consciousness that it was tied and bound by the strong chain.

The chain held it so tightly that it had given up and almost forgotten all attempts of freeing itself long ago, even though it still possessed the strength to break away.

One day, however, a link of the chain wore through, and the chain tore. But since the dog had lived as a prisoner in its con-sciousness for so many years, it made no attempt whatsoever to seize its freedom and run away.

The whole world would suddenly open up before it, if it would only realize its strength.

But it continued to lie before its hut day after day, longing for freedom but remaining a prisoner of itself.
One day however a cat came along, and the dog bounded to its feet.

Bounding up after the cat, it chased it far beyond the length of its chain which had confined it up until then.
And you see, a wondrous freedom suddenly overcame it – and it ran and ran.

The prison of the hut and chain suddenly disappeared and was forgotten, and freedom alone took possession of it.
It is just the same with man.

Since false traditions and false doctrines of false gods have been preached to him for thousands of years, he no longer knows who he is.

Thus he also no longer knows of the powers and capabilities within him which have been oppressed.

The psyche of man has become a prisoner of the material world, and the physical nature of man prevents him from seeing more than a faint gleam of the truthful light.

But with certainty, the day shall come when man dares to venture a little further in his thoughts than usual and then a little further and further.

At that time, the inner light will flash within him, and he will only catch a small, fleeting glimpse of his true being at first.

But then the time will come, when he perceives a little more and still a little more.

The light of truth will gradually dawn in him, so that he finally becomes one with the eternal life and the eternal power of his being.

This light will then illuminate and take possession of his entire psyche.

Once awakened by this new consciousness, man must firmly grasp the thought of this unity, and by living in this thought from that point onward, his life will flow in the lasting realization of the unity with the Creative BEING.

And the worldly man of Earth will thus be changed into the man of Creation.

Compared with his new life, the old one only deserves to be called death, for it was equal to ignorance and narrow-mindedness.

This deadly life however can no longer bind the new man, who, in a given sense, was really dead before in his old life – a living dead.

For truly, it can only be said of him that he has awakened into life and now lives in the conscious realization of his unity with the one and only life.

This man has indeed been born and set into the world and lives there, but he has not yet entered into a conscious and real life of Creativeness.

He is born as the man, Adam or Eve, but the man of Creation has not yet awakened in him.

Hence Creation has not yet been born in him, and he will live in darkness until that time.

He does not know the wonderful realities of life, and the power of the spirit of Creation slumbers within him, oppressed until the time when it will be given the chance to awaken.

«I am your own spirit» is what the spirit in man seems to always call to him with the voice from within, «I am the fragment of Creation within you which invigorates you and gives you true life. »

And indeed, whoever wants to hear it, will be able to hear it and will thus enter into life abundantly.

Through the prevailing raw and unreason-able power of the Earthly sects and religions, man hears a lot about the «fall of man into sin»…

But something, which with good reason could be called the fall into sin only came about because man turned away from the inner light and turned to false and man-made gods.

That man in his mind turned his life away from the unity with Creation and tore himself apart from it, therein alone is the so-called fall into sin, which in truth is a fall into indebtedness and should thus be called the fall of man into indebtedness.

If you want a system that merits emulation, I would say Norway has managed to nail that. From the CIA World Fact Book:
“The Norwegian economy is a prosperous bastion of welfare capitalism, featuring a combination of free market activity and government intervention. The government controls key areas, such as the vital petroleum sector, through large-scale state enterprises. The country is richly endowed with natural resources – petroleum, hydropower, fish, forests, and minerals – and is highly dependent on the petroleum sector, which accounts for nearly half of exports and over 30% of state revenue. Norway is the world’s third-largest gas exporter; its position as an oil exporter has slipped to seventh-largest as production has begun to decline. Norway opted to stay out of the EU during a referendum in November 1994; nonetheless, as a member of the European Economic Area, it contributes sizably to the EU budget. In anticiipation of eventual declines in oil and gas prodution, Norway saves almost all state revenue from the petroleum sector in a sovereign wealth fund. After lackluster growth of less than 1.5% in 2002-03, GDP growth picked up to 2.5-6.2% in 2004-07, partly due to higher oil prices. Growth fell to 2.3% in 2008 as a result of the slowing world economy and the drop in oil prices. ”
Less than 2% unemployment in that country. And yes, they have socialized medicine, and it’s quality is what any country would hope to match. Sounds better to me than the ‘Free to those who can afford it, very expensive to those who can’t’ or “I’m all right so fuck all the rest” ideolgies pervasive in NA. Just my opinion…

Jake has kicked ass in calling the market this year. For that he deserves a tab, in fact, between Fly and Jake, we’re set. Ragin is good in bull markets, all the rest should be canned. And Fly, wtf are you so obsessed with having such young kids around? I want experience not some young 20yr old even if he is bright. You’re young but you’ve been in this game for a long time, and that’s what we need at IBC. Traders who are in their 30s and up, and have been doing this for at least a decade would be my requirement.

Sorry, out this on the wrong blog due to Blackberry glitch.
    ___

Let me just say that I have read Howard /Zinn (and Chomski, and Wolfe and many many other far left abut-American propagandists) and I don’t blame you for your warped views on America as “the Great Satan” etc.

The same claptrap is taught in our own schools in pursuit of the “European model” which, ironically, would not work very well were the “American Model” not in place to provide those free riders with defense, health care innovation, and all manner of technological advancement without which those command-oriented, welfare states would quickly go bankrupt.

I don’t blame you, but I will caution you that the free gravy train will be coming to an end soon, thanks to our own misguided trip down the statist lane. Then we will see if the American paling will be worth the brief frisson of schadenfreude to those haters who so long have sniped at our admittedly flawed, but “best of breed” system.

It will certainly be interesting, I think we can agree on that.

First, Pls forgive the Blackberry “autofind” typos- that word should have been “anti-” not “abut.”

Second, I assure you I’ve read as much anti-American garbage as you would believe possible. Fanon’s Canon continues to be practically Holy Writ at my undergrad alma-mater. It took years to undo the damage of that wholly Marxist curriculum.

That said, I was not exposed to that conditioning in my primary or secondary educational processes, so I would imagine I was one of the lucky ones. I cannot imagine trying to break the hold of such imprinting were I born in a more statist country.

I do not hold you responsible, but I will ask you to consult your own eyes at various points in future.

The Norwegians have a rather large public sector, which ends up just being a sort of socialistic onanism that is no more fun once the lump has been cummed. When their oil does run out, that money pile will be whittled away rather quickly, and they will need to come up with some new ways of making money. The Norwegian system does not foster the same sort of creativity as the US system. Lutefisk, lumber and lefse exports probably won’t be sufficient to pay the bills.
I’ll make the bold (and glib) prediction that one day in the not-so-distant future, the Norwegians will be forced to return their roots of rapin’ and pillagin’. If I were in the UK, I’d be trembling now.

Ok, now two thumbs down for Norway? Please explain. And don’t try to tell me how ‘if it wasn’t for the Historically Great International Magninimity of the US Norway would be poor or Russian or lepers or whatever’, I’m not that easily fooled…Though I am certainly swayed by fact.

FOr the record: I think the US has(had?) the potential of being one of the greatest nations on earth ever to exist, if Americans kicked out the polyarchy ruling it now and forced their leaders to practice the spirit of their admirable constitution. Now there’s a document that should be the envy of any governing body. It would be to nationhood what Gauss was to electromagnetism…

Good points prairie, but you are presuming that :
    A) Norway’s ‘money pile’ will be whittled away, rather than wisely invested. (Just how much of Northern Alberta does Norway own these days, anyway?).
    And:
B)Creativity is limited to the US. Which seems unlikely. Now the outright appropriating of ideas/natural resources/wealth, that’s one of their strengths. Just ask Tesla.

There are several regular “contributors” here who would make great tabbed bloggers. It’s always good to see Boca here. Jake’s great when he’s talking the trading and not just repeating O’Reilly/Limbaugh talking points (just fucking w/you, Jake). Even relative newbies like Hammy would do well, tho his day job of defending America might cramp his blogging time.

But if one current tabbed blogger went away and was not replaced, as much as I like each one of them, I think it would only give me more time to read, question and understand what the other tabbed guys are saying.

Maybe instead of a new tabbed blogger, perhaps there could be an “Of Current Interest” column that changes each week. Kind of like the PG but with a single topic to be addressed and analyzed. Like “Trading Strategies in a Bear Rally,” “Trading Your Way Out of a Bad Trade,” “Recognizing Inflection Points,” or “The Intervention and 12 Step Recovery Program for Degenerate iETF Traders.”

Even a tab that called out “Tomorrow’s Headlines” where contributors could list events, announcements and news that were likely to affect the next day’s trading, all in one place, solely for the day ahead, could be helpful. Perhaps if edited by Cronkite, this could save time for those of us who try to read everything and just end up scattered during our busy days.

    Just a couple of ideas.

It is of course silly to compare a sparsely populated state that won the resource lottery with that of a country whose defining value proposition is an environment of commercial freedom such that it has become the predominate destination of choice for ambitious entrepreneurs the world over.

If we lionize Norway for feeding its people from state appropriated and apportioned commodities, one might as well laud the backwards and Wahabbist Saudi Arabia for allowing Shell and Exxon to extract their desert carbon so they might lie about with whores in sybaritic idleness.

The hard question the Saudis– and Norwegians in their turn– must answer is what will become of their state once the easy (read “unearned”) money is gone?

It is the underlying structure of incentives that will determine a state’s viability. This– above even the egregious debt we are accumulating– is why this current bailout of failed private institutions, and the horrid moral hazard that bailout represents, is so abhorent to me. In effect, we are becoming no better than the easy money statists, and like them, I fear we will suffer as a society as a result.

Fly, I was just using Norway as an example of existing successful alternative forms of governance for those who say, “There can be only one!”

RE:”The hard question the Saudis– and Norwegians in their turn– must answer is what will become of their state once the easy (read “unearned”) money is gone?”
Who knows? Mb they will even invest in GLD Jake! You are making the same presumption prairie did: that they are not already planning economically for just such an event. Perhaps their governments aren’t as short-sighted as some, and that is the real reason they are in the position they are in now?

I mean, the US used to have a pretty damned decent ratio of natural resources per capita before it either squandered them to make a few ppl rich, or mismanaged/poisoned them to the point where they don’t exist anymore.

“In effect, we are becoming no better than the easy money statists, and like them, I fear we will suffer as a society as a result. ” See, there you go again, assuming that which you do not know. It seems like the Norwegians will suffer a lot less with only 2% unemployment…

    Goin’Fawr Says:

If you want a system that merits emulation, I would say Norway has managed to nail that. From the CIA World Fact Book:

Bull fuck. Noway was able to fund its addiction to welfarism because of its oil reserves which believe it or not are a huge % of its receipts. On a per cap basis Norway’s oil receipts are more important to the national budget than Saudi Arabia.

If you want a system that takes most of your money that you earn, churns it through the government and gives it back in the way the state chooses then Norway is the fury little socialist sink hole for you.
