I remember when my Grandfather told me stories about the heroes of his generation, which included baseball players, champions of industry, politicians, police officers, actors, family members, neighbors etc.
Conversely, today, we are a viagra driven society, whose only interest is to fuck something or someone, out of coin or innocence.
Our athletes are cheating fabulists. Our politicians are criminals and/or too stupid to lead. Our “titans of industry” resemble the mafia from 50 years ago, minus the honor amongst thieves. Families are fractured, due to asshole parents taking a greater interest in their own vanity, instead of raising a family and leading truthful/admirable lives.
Don’t get me started on today’s actors and actresses. Let’s just say the days of Cary Grant are long gone.

I think that what the US primarily needs is to let shit fail, get it over with, (yes it will be brutally painful but lessons are only learned that way) and invest a ton of money into a big, inspiring space program. Like setting up permanent bases on Mars (for a small fraction of the cost of this bailouts). Such an endeavor would inspire the next generation of fat degenerates to enter careers in science and engineering. With the current massive declines in US graduates in those fields, it will be a wonder if any of your bridges and buildings, sewage systems, or various industrial processes remain viable, much less keep on the cutting edge relative to the rest of the world. Not everyone can be hair dressers, and stock market speculators. Someone has to design and build useful things. Like beer and handguns.

Religion was created to INSTILL a sense of morals into man who otherwise is in a tribal warring state. New Agers my friend are some of the worse…as they are the ones who have moved up the evolutionary ladder just enough to let go of ‘ fear based religions’ but they are not spiritually evolved enough to understand what to replace it with…they replace it with ‘ arrogance’ I AM GOD, there is no such thing as ‘ right or wrong’ only how you perceive things to be. ‘ That depends on the meaning of the word ‘is’ is’ to quote Clinton.

You’ll enjoy it. In the Bible, true religion is defined as taking care of the widows and fatherless. People who you can’t get anything “material” from in return for your kindness. I don’t see much of that attitude in today’s society. Sadly. I encourage all of you very intelligent people to explore that side of the “coin”.

As an engineer, and also one that did NOT make up my degrees (BS, MS), I have to say that being an engineer is complete bullshit. New graduates don’t go into the field because there’s no money or dignity in it. You’re owned by the C students that went into HR and the criminals in the boardroom that didn’t even finish school at all. There are many professions that are not valued properly according to their contributions to society, and engineering is one. As long as the economic system is run by bureaucrats and thieves, this will never change.

Call me paranoid, but if America is really going down a fucking spiral and true Armaggedon hits, expects 3 things:
1) Gold/silver continues to ignite (GLD green right now)
2) Sales of guns surges (SWHC is green today)
3) Gasoline demand ignites as compaenies and retail folk hoard gasoline for the ultimate fuck-you undoing of the world and oil prices continue to plunge as the world goes into wow-I-just soiled-myself mode (check the USO, down again today). The widening crack spreads is good for refiners.
Those are my theories. Admittedly, I’m not long gold, which is a shame — got stopped out too many times in the past, and I’m sure as hell not going to get suckered in at these prices even if I miss out on a straight-line move to 3,000 (unless I see a base get built at some point).

I own/collect guns, just for fun, but the SWHC deal is weird……S&W just doesn’t sell as well as one thinks. my local gun stores sell more Sig’s and Glock’s and Kimber’s and Para’s and other off brands than S&W’s in pistols, and in long guns they are lacking in offerings people want and sales go to other brands. In long guns I prefer Rem M700’s and in pistols I prefer Sig’s (which I just bought a new one) and Para and Kimber.
And I don’t own SWHC for that reason…..I hope it goes up but it used to be a 20.00 stock, now it is a 2.00 stock.
Most police departments around the country use Sig’s or Glock’s now and most Military guys who carry side arms prefer Colt or Sig. The Navy has a contract with Sig Sauer for there P226 as a Navy issued side arm.
S&W has just fallen off the wagon. The majority of gun makers survive by government contracts. Even Colt would barely survive without the government contract it has for it’s M4 and side arms to the Military branches.
Back in WWI and WWII military persons prefered Colt 1911’s, in Korea and Vietnam they prefered Colt 1911’s and now in Iraq most kids over there have a 100 year old designed Colt 1911 in their tac gear, Colt prefered over all other pistols (except Patton) almost the same today, ask Devildog what he prefered when he served…… probably a Colt……

I met with AMAT last year at the San Diego Solar Conference. I really like the company and their thin film turnkey solution. They’re leaders in the field and have most of that market. I never got around to buying the stock because of the multiple. It’s always been clownishly high. When AMAT starts trading at 5-6x EPS, I’ll buy with both hands.
I mean, look at YGE. Faster growth and trades at 7.7x EPS.
Given that we’re only in Year 1 of this Depression, I want to take my time on getting into investments. Moreover, the average SP-500 multiple should drop to the 5-6 area, coincident with what we say in the last Depression.
By the way, the current reported earnings multiple on the SP-500 is in the 20s (the bullshit 12-15 number the analysts quote is the fantasy-land operating earnings number concocted by SP in the 90s). So, when the DOW is at 2000-3000, I will start to fish bottoms in stocks like AMAT. I think it’ll probably survive this whole mess.

My feeling is we go lower. That’s why I’ve been over 90% short the last week, patiently adding to strength.
The volume is very light right now on this down day. It’s precisely that fearless volume (plus the bailout package getting passed and how the market reacted last year with TARP’s passage) that lends credence to my bearish thesis.
I believe we will continue to bleed lower on these indices. Once we’re a decent bit below 52-wk lows, and bullshit dip buyers realize how fucked the state of affairs is, then, we will start to see high-volume exodus from stocks in the form of beautiful wide-range bars. That’ll probably take us to DOW 6,000, before we build another base.
I don’t expect this market to come back.

Risk reward on UUP looks pretty juicy. Worst case scenario, something crazy happens and you get a gap up tomorrow, taking a 20-30 cent loss. But if it rolls over here, the dollar could see a potential test of 24.50 (200day). So, potential 30 cent risk, for $1.50.

I’ll tell you the funny thing about this market the last few weeks. Just when it looks like its breaking down it bounces. Then when it looks all clear to go long it pulls back. Now that people have figured out what this market is doing, a lot of people have gotten sucked into long positions the last 2 days. Now the market has effectively trapped these bulls in the funnel. We’re heading lower.

It’s an beauty contest of uglies and the Dollar seems less ugly than the other save for the Yen.
A great deal of the moves you’re seeing though are actually cross related.
Example:
Euro/Yen….. heavy selling of Euro against Yen goes through with the Euro falling against the Dollar and the Yen strengthening against the buck.
However, my feeling is the place which is going to really get hit hard is the Euro area simply because the economies there are so fucking inflexible, so the currency has to take the hit. That’s the reason whay I hate the Euro.
I also think the Yen has to fall. They have no choice or they die.
So I’m positive for the dollar but hold my nose.
Look, its a trading market not a positioning market at the moment. If you wanna sell the Dollar do it when Say the Euro is trading at the bottom of the hourly chart with a 16 hour/ 2% envelope for the mid. Works pretty well. Have tight stops though.
