You fucking people, getting all happy, with the jazz hands waving in the sky, over a pending U.S. collapse make me sick. The internet is a funny place, where all sorts of strange men share the intellectual equivalent of spoiled mashed potatoes and old duck pate.
I throw my shrimp tails in your general direction, while guzzling a glass of single malt Scotch.
Most of you are simply besides yourselves, over some sort of near term economic apocalypse— that is supposed to force fuckers like me into the open fields, farming for beans and shit. I got news for you Alfred Hitchcock, double chinned motherfuckers, I ain’t farming no beans. More importantly, hey guess what, I’m gonna live my bourgeois life in the most egregious fashion, during this decline. After all, economic duress means good times for “big men.”
Here’s the thing: before I take my family to the mountains to escape the “poor” and famished “regular folk,” I will employ a small army, a militia of sorts, of unemployed malcontents to secure the food provisions at my local Costco, then proceed to the mountains to take your guns and rice.
More importantly, many of you third rate bloggers, and youtube box heads, think Asia will, all of a sudden—by the grace of God—live happily ever after, all the while America burns to the ground, amidst civil unrest and eventual revolution. Ha!
Wrong again, friend.
Before that happens, our big mighty tanks and motherfucking cluster bomb carrying bombers of elysium, will secure the coal/copper mines of China and the national treasuries of any middle eastern country of choice.
A 14 trillion dollar economy is not something to piss off, especially when it employs goons with big guns and technology that can eliminate your cities population, without damaging any valuable infrastructure.
What I am saying is: you need to chill the fuck out with your “America is gonna fall” rhetoric. Things may be fucked up and times are likely going to get worse. However, if we go down, so do you.
Therefore, keep buying our fucking treasury bills.

I recommend all your readers to listen to it fully.
Okay.
No more inflammatory “America is gonna fall of a cliff forever” retoric.
Understood.
How about, “America will descend into a subterranean refuge in a gentle and upbeat manner to only reemerge at the behest of the 4 Horseman in 2 millenia?”
long live fly and aretha too.
America will cycle through the mud and do what is necessary to reemerge. It is a bet, over the long run, worth taking.
However, for now, I hope stocks go lower.

I predict the EU will shatter in ’09-’10

Let me clarify,
I mean market direction? Appears to be a lot of conflicting ‘predictions’ as to whether market goes up or down. FOMC meeting starting Tuesday as well as Geitner’s confirmation tomorrow would bode well for market going up rather than down? Chart Addict seems to have a bullish bias although in a very subdued way.

bias is lower.

is inflation coming?
Fucking A it is according to this dude that agrees with me.
And you can have the Dow at 7,000 and gold at $1500 an oz.
This is unless of course the deflationists have re-defined deflation to mean something else and then we can just call it Paris Hilton.
the thing is that I used to think that inflation would raise the price of stocks. I’m not so certain that it will and could in fact fuck stock prices. But it won’t fuck the gold price as people begin to see it as the best hedge against monetary debauch.
Even land could offer some protection at these prices over the long term as silly as that sounds.

MISH(Mike Shedlock) tore Peter Schiff a new asshole.
He basically called Schiff a ‘tard and backed it up very thoroughly.
It would also seem a lot of money/financial managers are getting called out after the Madoff debacle. If you’re running someone else’s money, how do you prove that account is funded, short of refunding all the money?
For an interesting note on the economic outlook for China see my hometown paper, the Bangkok Post. Thailand has 2 main ports a deep sea port and a river port in Bangkok. Traffic at the deep sea port for December was down 20% year to year and 30% at the river port.
Why does this have anything to to with China. Thailand assembles shit using it’s cheap labor. A lot of what it assembles comes from China as does everything from the tooling to plastic zip lock bags.
A good friend of mine is a factory sales rep from mainland China. Two years ago he was moaning and bitching constantly that his orders were never being filled, because the factories couldn’t produce enough to fill all the orders. Now, when I call to see if he wants to go out he says no, he’s very happy with his family and wants to stay home. Lying sack of shit (but a really nice guy).
Any way you look at it, if you are long China bend over and get a good grip on the table edge. And remember, the China markets aren’t going to give you a reach around.
If you’re running someone else’s money, how do you prove that account is funded, short of refunding all the money?
Oh really, that’s silly.
I thought the Mish post on Peter Schiff was interesting until it ended as being a plug for Sitka.
My favourite part was the correlation to the S&P proving that his hedge fund was rising due to it’s own merits.
But, in all honestly, I’ve begun to be disenchanted with Mr. Shedlock.
It’s “the whole sky is falling” until he talks about his hedge fund.
Meh.
Thinking about the banking situation……..
I think in a way certain aspects of the TARP have actually made things worse for the banks and here I’m focusing on the strike price of the warrants and the preferred stock that was issued.
They are simply far too low and this has done two things. In view of all that extra supply of diluted stock the shorts have been given a decent freebie to go out and short the stock while long side investors are loathe to touch the banks for the same reasons. So the effect of the strike price of the warrants is that it has artificially depressed the tangible equity of these banks.
One of the things the Obama administration can do right now is to raise the strike price of the TARP warrants and preferred closer to the estimated NAV of the banks.
The effect could be that the market could immediately lift the market value of these stocks and therefore allow the tangible asset values to increase… which is where the problem stems from.
Good song. Makes me want to start doing heroin and screw a black prostiitute with Herpes. BTW, financials will be up today. I’ll bet Fly’s family on it!

Then tell them to “GO OUT AND SHOP!”, spend money, live your dreams, get off the sidelines and invest in your countrymen, invest in America and stop living in fear.” Tell them the only way to win is to ‘ get going’ and put some energy back into the economy, into their neighborhoods, their cities, buy dont horde, live your life!. Meanwhile kick those asshole management teams out of the banks, let some of them fail, let good ones rise up to meet the challenge, prosecute those white collar criminals so people feel there is justice in this country, then MOVE ON…and rebuild.

My Dear Lady G
To sit complacently by declaring “we may not be as free as
were but still freer than any one else” is the big problem
with most Americans. While I agree our country will survive, if we continue to lose our freedom bit by bit, and that is how our Govt. does it..”How do you eat an elephant, one bite ate a time”..Then we have lost all, and we have been on that road for many years. Government takes individual freedom by playing on our fears, they will protect us..How has that worked so far ?

LadyG – what are you smoking?
Maelstrom,
How did you suppose from my post that I am in favor of losing our freedoms? I was speaking to non-Americans that we are still freer than they are- which means our potential to innovate, create and grow is better than theirs. They shouldn’t bet against us but instead hitch a ride on our tailwinds.
I am very angry about all this bail out crap. I am not happy about some parts of Home Land Security. I just said..we should NOT FEAR, but push ahead, persevere and rise to the occasion.
I am NOT complacent….I invest in my ideals, I spend money, I employ people, I teach people to master their lives, I teach people how to overcome their fears and I have been doing that for over 20 years. I have done many workshops, lectures, classes, books, schools- all over the USA and other parts of the world.

Gun sales have gone thru the fucking roof over the last 12 months, gun stores (tactical type) in my area have bare shelves, back orders are nation wide, used guns are selling right now for a 20% premium over the cost of the same gun brand new, since stores are out of inventory……plus bullets have tripled in price as well (partly due to materials costs but also for massive demand)

Morgan Stanley is up a bunch. I read somewhere that brokers are touting it now as the best of its peers. What a difference a little TARP money and what looks like a decent acquisition makes.
Artist,
I just went to the Shot Show in Orlando Florida which is arguably the biggest gun show in the world (about the size of 10 Home Depots). No way you could see it all in a day. I really liked the Sigs. Good choice. Quality gun- not cheap though.
I heard the same thing from all the gun manufacturers…”We can’t make enough to meet demand”. Scary. Anyway, good choice on the gun. 9 mm ammo is cheap too which is good. Try buying 10mm. That stuff will break you.
up-
I know that all too well. My profits from my shorts in XOM and GS are evaporating fast. Not looking to capitulate, at least not yet. Soon or later the hammer will drop. 56,000 layoffs announced just today. That can’t be good for the broader market. This maybe a short term bounce for the bulls to get a little money back, but IMO longer term things look bleak
Rumors abound that Obama as an anti second amendment type will push some heavier gun restrictions at time of registration but will tax the hell out of the ammo and thus make them prohibitively expensive for the average person.

you meant to say f**ked UP market
Exactly TradderC, and Fox, thats why I go with 9mm, at the present prices, I can buy 150 rounds of 9 for the same as 50 rounds of .45 and for general paper punching it doesn’t make sense to go with .45 at the costs.
I also hear rumors on the gun front that legislation is leaning towards laser etching serial numbers on each cartridge made and matching serial on the tail of the bullet and require your drivers license number to be put into a computer base for each box you buy and that boxes serial numbers are registered to you……so what that means now is if that insanity goes down we will have to make sure no one steals bullets from you…….
it is getting ridiculous….guns do not kill, evil assholes with the intent to kill, kill…..
Some Wordsworth, for your morning:
The World is Too Much With Us
The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers:
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
This sea, that bares her bosom to the moon;
The winds that will be howling at all hours
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers;
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not–Great God! I’d rather be
A pagan, suckled in a creed outworn;
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus, rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn.

TheArtist: Nice choice, I am partial to Glock but I have always been. When I go to the range 9mm is much cheaper than my Glock .40 but I find the .40 to be a nice balance between impact expansion and stability for my size. Very hard for me to accurately shoot the .45 plus ammo costs so much. I have seen cases where the 9mm shoots straight through a target and doesn’t even faze them, then again that’s full jacketed. By the way there is a huge demand right now for AR’s, people worried about a possible ban.
Why are we up? Short covering. Why? Fear.

possible explanations… VIX falling, “it can’t get worse” mentality, its the Lunar New Year
One of the things the Obama administration can do right now is to raise the strike price of the TARP warrants and preferred closer to the estimated NAV of the banks.

I agree gappingandyapping. I also use 40 s$w as my personal defense caliber. I don’t want a bloody bad guy on top of me trying to rape and take my gun away after I shoot him. The 40s&w makes a much better blood channel than the 9mm. In fact, the NRA published an article revealing the military’s woeful disatisfaction with the 9mm and the planned return to the 45. Unfortunately combat troops are complaining about the “stopping power” of the nine mm. Anyways, congrats to TheArtist for arming himself. He has made himself and all of us safer. I just advise him to run the other way as fast as he can after he shoots the bad guy with that 9mm.
Gapping, yep, AR’s are on indefinite back order, I have a Sig556 on order…..I may never get it…the store cannot even give me a date at all. and used ones on gunbroker are selling for as much as 40% more than “new” retail…..
and people are worried about “taxing” bullets as mentioned above, if they implement a 49.9% tax on bullets, a box of .45 at current prices will be 50.00 dollars a box of 50 or a dollar each,
which will only hurt family run businesses across the country that run small mom and pop hardware stores that sell hunting rifles and bullets which are a big part of their weekly sales, and not to mention all the private gun ranges closing up….the gun range across the street from me just closed about 2 months ago, not due to bullet prices but due to legal battles with the county.
We have altered the earth to our own will : by 19th century, the means of mining and gathering of materials, concentrations of humanity in drab filthy tenements blocks, the abuses of the labor force, their concentration in industry-
The Poet asks if we cannot recognize ourselves in nature in a God-created universe?
‘Little we see in Nature that is ours’ suggests the illusion of separation, brought on by our materialistic focus and away from the Divine and Oneness.
‘The sea’, ‘the wind’ are as ‘sleeping flowers’…we have lost this connection in pursuit of material gain. ‘We are out of tune, – It moves us not’.
‘… a creed outworn’? We have lost our way- the supposed truth in creeds…wears thin as the world weighs heavy.
Truly tho Jake at the heart of all separation is the idea of unworthiness which is pushed on the masses by religions based on fear, reward and punishment. We as humanity can never be happy and can never reconnect to that inner wisdom as long as we live in fear of ‘ an outcome’. So becus of that fear we create hell on earth…as a direct reflection of our separateness from ONENESS.
What the fuck!?!

Interesting that you mention the ballastic difference between .40 and 9mm. I spoke at length to the Glock representative at the Shot Show and he said the difference is almost non-existent. I have read the same stories as you, but he disputes them. He stated that with the +P rounds (plus powder) that the difference was even smaller. He said for true “stopping power” which is a misnomer he said you have to jump from 9mm to .45- .40 won’t do it. Those are his words not mine.

‘… a creed outworn’? We have lost our way- the supposed truth in creeds…wears thin as the world weighs heavy.
This speaks to the pagan creed, which the author would choose as the least respite from the modern world.

Hello Fox,
Just out of curiosity, when you spoke to Glock did they try to push their new (or, somewhat new) 45 GAP round? Doesn’t seem to be catching on is why I ask. Thank you.
Vladimir,
Sounds like a personal problem with that sucking thing.
Take your notions elsewhere.

No…they weren’t pushing anything in particular. He definitely said .45 was the way to go if “knock down power” was your objective. His personal opinion, after viewing the gelatin tests, (shooting into molds) was that the difference between the .40 and the 9mm was nominal. The .45 was much better. He went onto say that the 9mm was much easier to control when firing multiple rounds quickly. The .40 has more recoil which leads to inaccurate fire when shooting in “bursts”. Again, I am not qualified to speak intelligently on the matter and everything I am saying came from the Glock rep.
