That cracked me up about the coal — I almost choked on my late night bowl of cereal.
No, it’s just good kids will get coal this year.
But not Al Gore’s kids.

Love the dial on the cell-phone. Funny shit.
Use that new fangled fone and call the Chinese PPT and ask them how far they’re pushing up Shanghai – I think its up almost 12% in the last four sessions – part of the Olympic feel good strategy??? Looks like they’re better at mkt manipulation than even we are – I wonder who is doing the Dog and Pony show tomorrow since according to CNBC we’re now offically out of bear mkt territory. These damn 2 day bear mkts suck – really scare everyone
Seriously, been thinking about going long China until after the Olympics and then going short again – not sure how crowded that trade is anymore? The FT had some interesting data about how expensive China PE is ….
I had a great experience with Apple today. Thought I’d pass it on.
Bought my wife a MacBook in ’06. Nothing but trouble: replaced two keyboards, two batteries, one power supply, one logic board, one hard drive all at Apple’s expense under warranty. Then yesterday the logic board failed again (out of warranty).
It was a lemon. I have about 14 macs under my control between work and home, and never had the problem.
I called the Apple store and explained the situation. The manager asked if my wife could come back in.
On the spot, brand new MacBook. I did not have Apple Care and the puter was 2 yrs old.
That’s pretty good service in my book.
A for Apple.
Did someone say “Old School” ???

Had I read your comment earlier I probably wood have met you out on the Cape. It was you right? Now I’m confused.
Yup…. it was me …. Mashpee, just between Sandwich and Falmouth, not too far from Otis Air Nat’l Guard Base.
E’8,
Next time I’m out in MA, I’ll make a point of visiting.
Perhaps after labor day for a striped bass fihing trip.
I usually spend time in Montauk after labor day, but my buddy Tim is also a fishing nut so maybe this year I’ll make it to the cape for stripers.
Peace
Heh. Rotary dial. The original click wheel.
We oldtimers get a kick out of watching the young folk try to press their thumbs through the holes to send a text. Once they finally figure out how to spin the dial, they panic when they hear all the clicking in the speaker.
If they threaten to stop paying into Social Security, we’ll turn their all of their lolcat pics into ASCII art. Bwahahaha!

A JPG of ASCII art… crazy young’ns.

Iran missile test, weaker dollar lead to oil price bounce.
Crude oil rose, rebounding from its biggest decline in three months, after Iran test-fired a long- range missile capable of reaching Israel and the dollar fell.
Oil recovered as the Iranian exercise, reported on state television, heightened concerns of an attack by Israel on the Middle East’s second-biggest oil producer. The dollar dropped against the yen and euro after the missile test, making commodities priced in the U.S. currency cheaper.

Good timing on the CLF. RIG upgrade not a bad start to the morning either. MVIS looks ripe for bidding down here.
Get your share of the TRILLIONS being made by extracting black gold from the recesses of planet Earth.
OPEC’s earnings from oil exports are expected to reach a record $1.251 trillion this year. That’s nearly $73 billion more than their previous estimate. Holy Allahu Akbar, Batman !!
Crude oil inventories will be disclosed this morning at 10:35 am ET. Six of the past seven weeks we’ve seen draws, pushing inventories to their lowest level since January. Despite all the demand destruction analysts are looking for inventories to decline by another 1.4 million barrels. Gasoline inventories are expected to show an increase of about 200,000 barrels and diesel and heating oil are expected to show an increase of 1.9 million barrels.
Anybody gonna YHOO today for 1 or 2 points? YAHOOOOOOOO!!
The next big tech boom is Smartphones/3G. I-Phone and Bold launches mark the beginning of the US Migration to the next generation platform.
RIMM / AAPL / QCOM / are three of the Four Horsemen…Number 4 will be the biggest winner. The goal is to find Number 4 now before its market cap goes from 2B to 20B.
The search begins…
Those phones were the shit when they came out. Harry Reid killed santa claus.
RIG catches an upgrade
Pay with your Mastercard at “Pizza Star”! You will get a free coffee and donuts.
This was just an paid ad from Mastercard no doubt. Priceless
MA to $300 again.
CSCO @ $22 looks nice.
KBH still squeezing 😛
I just took my “back alley” ass beatin’ on RIG, no thanks to the Bollinger Crash Trade on OIH and some very suspicious “upgrades” from FOF*.
But there’s no question — Ah’ll bee bahhk.

What are you doing with CLF.
my time machine says we go higher, perhaps violently for another 7-10 days.
btw, that is Fly’s time machine (and its a beaut, idn’t it?), I borrowed for my name.
This one is mine
Rotary dial? Cool. I have a party line in my house for a landline and can talk to Barney Fife and Gomer Pyle (over at the gas station) at the same time.
I am loving CLNE right now. Way to hype the shit out of your own company T Boone!
DB — take a look at the 60 day chart on that Boone picking, and note what the high ($11.89) does vis a vis the downtrend line.
Right now I am watching Brent go premium to WTI on the floor. That tells me the Brits take this Iranian Firework Display a little bit more serious than the US market is. It won’t last.
Job Market 2009
Crude was due for a bounce today after being crushed the last 2 days, and look at this … crude up a whopping .06 cents! Now that’s funny. The bears are gonna rip the heart out of this market.
Juice,
is your time machine taking earnings meltdown into account?
RIG giving back the upgrade pop
I have given orders to crash crude next Monday. Our accounts are all set up to profit from its imminent decline. IOW, we are max short crude, max long US equities.
Salem alotLikeIam
Goldman raised it’s price target on Potash a month ago to $291. Now, AFTER ’09 estimates have already been raised by over 100% and presumably discounted by the market, they publish another report talking about how fantastic the fundamentals are.
My skeptical side calls fuckery. I sold some into this pop at $223.
kmorph
we’re in a counter trend rally moment (damn the fundies, full steam ahead, except for those poor companies who miss badly (VMW)) …. of course this will end badly but the rally could be violent in the mean time, so be careful both ways
Despite all the political bullshit going on around the globe, crude at these levels is vastly overpriced.
WHY?
Because motherfuckers can’t afford the shit like they used to. As people use less gas, up go inventories.
Very funny video … the lady reminds me of the current oil bulls:
