This is Fly’s contemplative weekend posting.

He is telling us that we are nothing.

Fly is everything. We all bow to the Great Fly.

Do learn a parable from the fig tree; when its branch puts forth leaves, you know that summer is nigh.

Truly, truly, I say to you, this is how it will be.

The wise do not moan about lost things, about the dead and about events of the past.

Fools, however, cry over things that are not worth crying over, and thereby they increase their grief, privation and misery.

Those who have acquired sufficient wisdom and live according to the laws, permit not even the slightest harming of creatures, when they are without fault.

When people duly receive daily just a little wisdom in their consciousness, they will grow like the waxing moon during the first half of the lunar month.

Wisdom is the greatest asset of humanity and so is the created will, which is lord over love and happiness; but all of this is meaningless without the power of the spirit.

A fool who idly rests and waits for fate goes to ruin like an unfired pot in water.

Those who take care of a cow always receive milk; likewise, those who nurture wisdom and apply it through the power of the spirit bring forth rich fruit.

    Jake,

The truth is hard to hear. While the (itself often condescending, in a much worse way) media is getting all huffy about it, it’s really not a big deal. Don’t let the media do your thinking for you, read what he said and tell me what’s so bad about it.

But I guess our one party (two headed) government wants a race between Hillary and McCain because they know exactly what they’re going to say and do. Why anyone in this country would want the status quo after the last 8 years is beyond me…

Here, this helps to explain my feelings on the matter…

However, I’ll agree with you about one thing… “the Fly’s” blog is loading like shit.

How much bad debt is out there as a result of the private equity binge?

    ___________

Citi struggles to reduce EMI loan exposure

By Joshua Chaffin and Francesco Guerrera in New York

    Published: April 11 2008 22:02 | Last updated: April 11 2008 22:02

Uncertainty about EMI’s finances is frustrating efforts by Citigroup to reduce its loan exposure to the music company.

Citigroup financed Terra Firma’s buy-out of the British music company last year, leaving it with about $5bn in EMI loans – one of its largest single exposures.

The bank tried to include those loans in a $12bn portfolio that it plans to sell at a discount to private equity firms. However, Citigroup was forced to remove the EMI loans from the package after it was unable to provide adequate financial information to potential buyers, people familiar with the matter say.

Guy Hands, Terra Firma’s chief executive, is carrying out a radical restructuring of EMI that will include up to 2,000 job cuts. Its bankers remain unclear about the music group’s prospects and the financial results of that overhaul, an insider said.

There is also uncertainty because EMI is reviewing the way that it accounted for deliveries to retailers in late 2007, according to people familiar with the matter.

EMI and Citigroup declined to comment.

Mr Hands noted, in an interview with the Financial Times last year, that EMI spent £25m each year to scrap unsold compact discs, and complained about over-shipping of merchandise.

The uncertainty at EMI highlights broader pressures facing the music industry. Sales of CDs are falling at double-digit rates and revenues from downloads, ringtones and other digital products are failing to offset the losses.

People close to the situation said Citigroup funded the entire £2.4bn ($4.8bn) EMI buy-out. Half of that is a bridge loan that is to be replaced by a securitisation of music rights. These insiders say Citigroup is confident that it will be able to sell the bridge loan.

The remaining £1.2bn is likely to prove more difficult to unload because of the turmoil surrounding the EMI deal, they added.

Credit analysts say Citigroup and other banks are struggling to sell or syndicate leveraged loans on European deals because the market for those products is thinner than the one for US leveraged loans.

People familiar with Citigroup’s sale said loans linked to another eight to 10 deals were also taken out of the original list of assets to be included in the transaction.

If I’m wrong, the planet will explode & your shorts will be little consolation.

    —–

I agree with Fly: Obama spoke the truth but he’s become too much of a politician(aka pussy) to stand by his words and clarify them if necessary. And Hillary is a pathetic vulturic opportunist. She should be put out to pasture with her understandably unfaithful husband, whos’ true character is coming to the fore.

McCain is just too old & dull to dig the US out of its gargantuan mess. Nice guy is all.

We’re fucked. imo, Obama is the best of them but that is saying practically nada.

Whomever gets elected would be wise to have Ron Paul in their cabinet. But that won’t happen.

    Yeah, we’re screwed.

So what. Empires come & go. Nothing us miniscule insects can do about it.

You dipshits are missing the point. Guess what? It doesn’t matter who the hell is President. This is not the Soviet Union, and government is not going to save you.

You know how you can tell a false libertarian? It’s someone who backs the libertarian candidate to the point where he thinks the world is doomed without said candidate invested with Presidintial power (or “in the cabinet??” Pah!).

If you believe stupid shit like that, how are you any different than the nutball socialists who think Obammie is the Messiah?

Listen up folks — There is no (political) Messiah!.

The best you can ask for is a government that leaves people alone.

And no, we didn’t get it with Bush (either of them), and we certainly won’t get it with the clowns running now.

No, folks, you’re going to have to sink or swim on your own here in America. Unfortunately (or for the more optimistic, “fortunately”), that’s what this country is all about — at least until the socialists get their way and are in charge of every last detail of your life.

Enjoy it while you can, huh?

Jake, it most certainly DOES matter who is in charge; to (dim)wit (pun) – is it not YOU who is in charge of your company? Does NOT the CEO matter for the health, success & longevity of a corporation?

No one is talking Messiah here, political or otherwise; they don’t exist except as the last hope, the last card in the deck, put in the minds of those who are under the spells of those who seek power with evil intent.

Only those opposed to Obama toss the term ‘Messiah’ around his neck, in a rather obvious attempt to sink him from the weight of such a burden that could never be fulfilled.

Only Socialists believe that the President of the US is the equivalent to the CEO (read “owner”) of this country.

Attend to your Constitution: this is a government of the people- a Republic where ultimate power is invested in the individual citizen. In that regard, the POTUS is your employee.

This makes your weak support for the Messianic (and I use this term only because it describes his ill defined campaign til now) all the more questionable.

America does not need an employee who is so naïve as to believe the only thing lacking in it’s (allegedly) “embittered” segments is a lack of government.

And as for that alleged populace, perhaps Senator Obama would be more credible had his “solutions” done any good for his decidedly embittered –albeit urban– home district.

    _____________________

For those of you who really think the Obamessiah’s quip was no big deal, I’d consider that you’re likely urban and ignorant of anything outside that environment.

That’s okay (believe me, New York is not flyover country, take it from someone who’d done both) but you have to understand that such a message is not going to resonate with people who might actually believe they are voting in their best interests. Consider if the shoe were on the other foot — and the massive multi-decade problems of the Rust Belt and the Northeastern US economy were ascribed to the “distractions” which you may hold dear (say Met-Jet fandom), and your inability to recognize, and vote for, a government that could really HELP you.

I don’t know about you, but I’d run screaming from that kind of arrogant twit. After I’d popped him, I mean.

    Consider again the quote:

The truth is, is that, our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when there’s not evidence of that in their daily lives. You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them (really Barry? –ed.). And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

So maybe urban New Yorkers are different than other people, and they enjoy being called racist asshats with stupid “distracting” affinities. For some reason, I don’t think their response would be different, however.

So Jake, you are suggesting that the President does not matter, that its a figurehead job like the Queen of England or Prince Chuck? The President IS the CEO of the nation. We need a good/great CEO/President/leader. The constitution is not followed here. That is what Ron Pauls candidacy was all about; getting back to, and following what was written in the Constitution.

I am sticking by Obama’s words even as he won’t. What he said is true, as a broad generalization. Of course everyone is an individual & must be taken as one. The same goes for the myth of the northeastern liberal or the southern conservative.

The fact is that starting wars & spending money we don’t have/fiscal irresponsibility is risk taking, not conservatism, by any stretch of the definition.

    Nazi leader Hermann Goering said:

“Why of course the people don’t want war … But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship … Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country”.

It seems to me that since 9/11 (at least), in this land, from sea to shining sea, the good ole USofA has taken a page, or two, out of the Nazi playbook.

Jake (aka Fly’s Daughter).. I suggest some anger management therapy before you bust an aorta.

Yes, I think Obama is better than Hillary or McCain. Obviously you strongly disagree. Whether or not you think Obama couldn’t be farther from RP if he were on Andromeda, says nothing, means nothing & will not bring me over to your point of view.

Your fancy invocation of debating rules & regulations is impressive, yet it is simply a smokescreen for having no reply other than a lot of huff & puff & name calling.

For your own good, as well as your family’s & country, I suggest you get to the root of your considerable anger.

And I’ll help you: When someone doesn’t agree with your second hand beliefs/opinions, put in you by evil old & tired men; first through logic, you attempt to bring the other over to your point of view. If that peaceful attempt (at control) falls flat/fails, your frustrastion degrades into anger/violence, which expresses itself through fancy, yet irrelevent debating invocations/laws and of course, your famous name calling. Which would be why you back all wars to end all wars, no matter what lies are told to march subordinates to their death.

Perhaps Mr. Goerings words hit a bit close to home, eh? And save your fancy Godwin invocation for those who are submissive enough to agree to play by the self-serving rules you set.

Have a nice evening. And I mean that, silly boy.
