Here we go guys. The most optimistic of us have been long for several weeks looking for the push up to daily resistence, while the shorts have been waiting for the next shoe to drop. Dow, Naz, and S&P are dead on the daily down trend line. Do we go for a head fake and reverse with some as yet unforseen blowup (e.g., LEH), or do we continue to stair step it up the wall of worry? It was not that long ago when I promised the almightly that I would be a good boy if he would get me back to even with AAPL (151) when it was breaking 120. Now that we are here, I am ready to shovel more shares into my account and put another 100k to work. It’s that blind optimism in upward momentum that usually rips my face off. So, I will be selling 1/2 of my AAPL at the open, half my ROM, half my C/LEH/GS, and half my SNDK. It’s gonna be hard to do that, but it will be the right move.

As can be seen from my post with the holdings that I disclosed – I have been leaning long; however, RWM does look taskty here with it’s oversold, low volume condition. The various future indices are also overbought on the daily charts. So, an afternoon long in RWM on any weakness in the markets is not a terrible idea. If we do not get the afternoon weakness, I will be putting on an overnight RWM short.

People are broke where I live. I just came back from necropolis one and two, aka Home Depot and Lowe’s. Actually I went at 7am, unlike the proprietary bloggers, I don’t nuzzle with the pillow when working men are up and working. I did not see one contractor pick up at Home Depot. Maybe about three customers in the one and a half acres of aisles. At Lowe’s, the staff to customer ratio was an equally wanton ten to one. I chatted with a cashier in the commercial check out.
‘Where the heck is everyone?’ I says.
She responds with a doleful glance and does not deign to answer. She opined that half the employees were already named on the pink slip.
Interesting that Howard Schulz, too, is from Brooklyn.
You know, back in the day, when my parents were young adults in the sixties and seventies, it was kind of a cliche to say that “everyone was from Brooklyn,” because it was kind of an amazing thing how many famous people had come out of Brooklyn.
The thing that’s kind of wild is that the cliche still kind of holds true today, even as Brooklyn is far more known for Brownsville (crack-head central), Bensonhurst (Mafia central) and Brighton Beach (Russsian Mafia central).
You don’t hear much about Flatbush anymore, ever since that movie the Fonz was in.

PS A few months ago I had a road-raged pick-up truck driver pull ahead of me @70 in a 40 mph area and then try to push me into the right lane where some poor sob’s were pushing their car. Presumably because I switched lanes (safely) to avoid the aforementioned disabled car.

The silver lining for HD, if it survives here, is that maybe people will start liking it again. The reason I stopped going there (and now use Lowe’s or even a local hardware shoppe) is that I could never find an employee on the floor. They were like hen’s teeth.

If I were to wager who Fly is, his personality profile, I’d say he’s a lot like me (although he once declared that I established myself as his blogging foil in the course of one weekend on the old blog).
If I were guessing, The Fly:
…is not famous, per se. He is anonymous. Just a smart guy who is good at what he does and has good ideas.
…stumbled into his blogging voice aka The Fly, formerly Broker A. Because he know a winner when he sees one, he ran with it.
…is young. Maybe a year or two younger than me. Guessing 34 – 36. Maybe a click younger based on his music selections. His taste in music reveals a lot about him. Especially the rap. He knows too much about that genre to be older than 38. Rap sucks to anyone 38 and older.
…he is kind in real life, no bravado. Unassuming.
…he deeply loves his family, especially his kids. I bet he has three. Two girls, 1 boy.
…married his college sweetheart.
…he is not based in Manhattan. I bet he is in NJ or CT. He wouldn’t subject his family to city life, especially his girls. Although he sometimes wishes his son had a bit more Brooklyn in him, but takes deep satisfaction in the fact that he is able to protect his son from the bad parts of city life.

A friend works for a contractor specializing in commercial const/reno and an occassional well-to-doer in the res’l arena and says he is dead expecting layoffs shortly and his wife just got her pink slip as well … starting to fall off the cliff rather abruptly but already discounted by the market, no?
