Still Retired

I get the sense that the market is going to melt all the way up to 12,500. Shorting here may seem like a good idea. However, keep in mind, the great bearded one will appear next week, to slash rates some more. And, all of the brokerages are scheduled to post earnings.

Something tells me, no matter how bad the numbers are, the market may spike.

So, the game plan is simple: relax, go play shuffle board. Let the idiots with low IQ’s run the market up to 12,500, then annihilate them with a barrage of sharply pointed short sales.

Also, in the meantime, get yourself a little gold. Playing gold to $1,000 an ounce is the easiest trade in the world.

Finally, it’s no surprise to me, seeing the health care names get blown out with extreme vigor. From [[WLP]] to [[HUM]] to [[WCG]], they’re all scams.

A very close client of mine, who happens to be a Physician with a very large business, has been short the health care fuckers for more than a year. He always says “they’re all criminals.” I am starting to believe him. He also hates [[MHS]].

My mom (an MD) almost disowned me when I told her I was long HUM last year…she said the EXACT same things.

So either one of three things is true:

    1.) They are both right
2.) Doctors hate the health care fuckers.
    3.) Both are true

    Beware the Gravestone Doji

Gravestone doji form when the open, low and close are equal and the high creates a long upper shadow. The resulting candlestick looks like an upside down “T” with a long upper shadow and no lower shadow. Gravestone doji indicate that buyers dominated trading and drove prices higher during the session. However, by the end of the session, sellers resurfaced and pushed prices back to the opening level and the session low.

    Stocks.

The underlying stocks can fall, even if the commodity is rising, like today’s action.

You know what else is a good game at the bar, while the Giants are on the tube, and the ales are plentiful?

    “Shuffleshot.”

You don’t see as many boards these days, but they’re out there if you look.

As much as I don’t care for Michael Moore’s style of documentaries, ‘Sicko’ was (hopefully) a good first step in starting the conversation about HMO reform in the general populace.

They fuck over their clients, both the doctors and the insured.

    Qatar Rethinks Dollar Peg
    Amid Gulf-Wide Inflation
    By TAHANI KARRAR
    March 12, 2008; Page A17

Qatar, the world’s largest exporter of liquefied natural gas, may revalue its currency or end its peg to the dollar as soon as next month, Qatari Central Bank officials said.

“Everything will be clear by the end of this month because our fiscal year ends on March 31, so by April the central bank will make an announcement,” a central-bank official said.

Qatar’s prime minister, Sheikh Hamed bin Jassem Al Thani, told news agency Zawya Dow Jones in an interview this month that the emirate was studying delinking its currency from the dollar. He said Qatar may peg its riyal to a basket of currencies.

The officials said the central bank remains undecided as to whether to revalue or depeg the riyal. But any decision to ditch the dollar will be made by the prime minister with the approval of other Gulf Cooperation Council countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E., Qatar, Bahrain and Oman have all kept their currencies pegged to the dollar, despite growing pressure to change policy in response to the U.S. currency’s continued slide, which economists say has helped drive up inflation throughout the Persian Gulf.

The U.A.E. has set up a task force to assess the implications of depegging, officials at its central bank said this week.

An expected interest-rate cut by the U.S. Federal Reserve on March 18 is likely to put further pressure on Gulf currencies, which are straining to maintain their pegs to the dollar. “If the Fed cuts rates this month, we will also have to cut rates,” a Qatari central-bank official said.

Another official at the central bank said Gulf central banks were coordinating meetings on March 19 and April 14 to discuss delinking from the dollar. Some analysts say a revaluation or move toward a currency basket in Qatar could be announced in the first half.

    Danny,

No shuffleboard is an outdoor game you play with sticks and clay pucklike discs.

“Shuffleshot” is a bar game, usually. It’s set up like shuffleboard, except it’s played on a ten foot (or less) board that has lines at either end denoting points score areas (like “10 pts” for getting it in between these two lines, etc).

Instead of the big clay puck things, you use large ball bearings circled in plastic that “roll” down the board and hopefully stay on in one of the points areas.

I think if you see one of them, you’ll get what I’m tawkin’ aboud.

Jake- Isn’t Highland Beach the small town on the ocean where most of the residents live in double wides that they moved to the beach in the 40’s and they recently voted to sell the land to a developer for a gazillion dollars? I think Jeff Gordon lives there (in a condo).

I have been caddying the last few summers at the North-South Am. at Pinehurst and they have one heck of a bocce ball court by the clubhouse. When I was there last year for the golf tournament they were having an international bocce ball tournament.

    TC —

No, you are thinking of that little burg right beneath Manalpan… it’s got a funny name, like “Salty Shores” or something ridiculous like that.

I believe it used to be the town that housed all the great unwashed that took care of the Palm Beach and Manalpan houses back in the day. But of course, it’s beachfront, so you know that shite ain’t gonna last very long…

No, that town is NORTH of Delray Beach, and Highland Beach is just south of DB, over the Linton Ave Bridge (which bridges the main land of Delray with the beach areas). It’s a very small town, only about a mile long, on A1-A.

It’s all houses and condo developments, with a small hotel here and there.

    ______________

Bocce is the sport of kings.

Started playing it in college, but have witnessed true “pros” playing in Carrol Gardens, when I used to live in Crooklyn.

Most likely Fly’s grandpapa and his cohort.

Briny Breezes! That’s the goofy name of the place, TC.

You can see where it is in relation to Highland and Boca Raton, here on this Google map.

Yeah thats the one. Some developer was going to pay mega bucks to buy the town from the folks, most of whom I believe live in double wides from the ’40s.

I recognized Pine Tree golf course on the map. My son played a tournament there two years ago. The greens (especially for Florida Bermuda) were perfect.
