Little Corn Island Experience

Was just on FB and a friend posted this video, figured I’d share it with you here as I never get up to much on the islands these days. This video really gives you an idea of what the Little Corn Island experience is all about; the creator did a sweet job. Also know the guy selling snorkeling tours; he just made the first ever Little Corn T-Shirt that says “Just Chillin” on it and they sold faster than the snorkel tour ever could.

While trying to embed this video I  found this one above which is cheesier but shows you lots more of the island. It was also taken a few years ago as now there is far more construction and recognize the kids. Everyone once in a while when things aren’t running smooth I think I’m losing my mind but seeing stuff like this reminds me I’ve found one of the coolest spots on the planet if “jus chillin” is what you’re after.

P.S: It’s becoming a real yoga retreat spot; totally okay with that.

Sadly no surf, if you’re looking for that I suggest you hit up the Pacific coast of Nicaragua it’s a real hot spot.

It does have great kiteboarding though.

First and foremost, I really like the locals from the islands; a very eccentric and gregarious bunch. That’s what got me thinking about this place in the beginning; I’m not a big beach guy but do love going in for 5 min cool offs.

Apart from that, it’s in the Caribbean, the local people speak English (HUGE), it’s in Nicaragua which is starting to boom, same timezone as family, easy to get to Miami aka door to the world, it’s unique because there are no cars or roads, super clean air, lobster is abundant and Flor de Cana is delicious.

Also, it’s growing and an exciting time to be involved with something. All islands and places have that period where it became what it is today; this island is entering that time. They already expanded the runway on Big Corn and now need to build a larger hospital and fire station to start accepting international flights direct from Miami; it would be ~1.5-2 hour flight.

Finally, it’s my favorite place on this planet and besides locals, expats are cool too.

sounds nice. What’s the best way to get involved there? Buy a slice of land? Do you feel comfortable with Nicaraguan govt and laws with foreign ownership, residency, etc.? Little Corn over Big Corn, then?

I am comfortable with the govt regarding foreign ownership. For you, best way to get involved anywhere is to show up and see what it’s like.

If you like somewhere a lot and choose to get more involved, that’s your choice. This place, like many others are relatively easy to buy land but it’s the permits which matter most.

      Good luck.
