No Luck

Nothing seems to work for me as of late. I’m thinking about calling it quits for the year in terms of swing trading. How can I not to get anything going with stocks near all time highs? Well, that’s the kind of market we are in, a frustrating one.

If you find yourself struggling a bit with your trading, you are not alone. Many professionals in the business are all experiencing the same thing.

It’s time for me to take a step back in my own trading, and get more tactical in my approach. I think from now until l year end, I will be looking for quick daytrades as opposed to swing longs.

Hopefully we can get some better traction in stocks into year’s end, whether long or short, but for now I have to stay cash heavy.

Yeah, everything I touch turns to crap. Glad to know I’m not the only one.

Welcome to the club. Took a look at the screen this morning, saw breadth was crap, pulled the plug and went back to bed. Much respect to y’all who – whether by virtue of career choice in managing client money or by choosing to work with us – lack that luxury.

RC – I’m still with those FEYE calls. Will make sure to start tweeting you again, once it starts ripping. I have an awesome Jackson 5 vid that is perfect for the celebration…

Mr. Cutting – Please forgive my naivety, are we talking FEYE, Jackson, or both….?

RC, I felt as though we were bonding through this trade…lol! I know you’ve got a winning style. Still working on mine..

I was quick with my exit on FEYE, and made a profit there. Which tells me I need to be quicker with all of my trades.

Interesting.. This is a market where letting winners run inevitably ends in tears. I’ve always bolted from winning trades too early and I’ve been working to correct this. But now I’m starting to believe that this conservative approach works best in this weird market. Maybe the optimum time frame is a day.

I haven’t been able to catch a swing trade win for weeks. Strike out after strike out (most recently stopped out of $TWTR). Sitting almost 100% cash right now since I don’t have time to monitor daytrades – only upside is that I won’t lose any more this year. If the atmosphere settles down a little bit, might dip back in for another short-term swing position, but unlikely under these conditions. Disappointing.

Swing trading has not been kind to me. I like the idea of being a daytrader with no overnight risk. Interested to see how you go about it.
