OA SELL: VSLR

I was originally hyped on this IPO for having access to an early placement prior to IPO, and for the companies growth prospects. Bringing this stock to market right in front of the energy apocalypse was tough, but starting small and averaging worked out in the end.

Sold this position this morning for a big gain, and riding $SUNE off into the thirty five dollar sunset.

ONE LAST QUESTION IF I MAY

I must thank those that participated in this exchange. I like the open forum discussions and stories like this. It makes me realize that most of you do have a soul and a good story, with the exception of only a few.

Ahead of the weekend, I wanted to throw one question out to those willing to leave me a response, as it will help me with my preparations for the NYC conference

What is your biggest obstacle holding you back from finding consistent success in the markets?

Have a great weekend,

My best/worst trade of the year. Ready for this?

Bought July 570 calls on $GOOGL over a week ago for $2.80. I chose this expiry because I wanted to catch a run into earnings, book some profit, but gamble with half the position into earnings.

I jettisoned my plan earlier this week out of fear that the trade might lose some of its profit through the week.

Those calls will open above $80.00 tomorrow.

BREAK THE RANGE, RIP THE RANGE

This chart seems all too familiar if you can recall the $RUT set-up throughout all of 2014. We discussed this a few weeks ago in After Hours with Option Addict. This move is proving to be a mini version of the 2014 $RUT set-up, but in the $SPX. Instead of the market going after the quality names in October and not stopping to let you on, this go around they are doing it in slightly more aggressive names like $AMZN, $AAPL, $GOOGL, $FB, $NFLX, etc.

RUTW2014Compare the daily of $SPX in the last few months of 2015, versus a weekly chart of the $RUT in 2013-2014.

Break the range, rip the range.

Note that the RUT pulled back just off the highs in Jan 2015, and that provided the dip to trade the breakout that stuck for a few months.
