I bought calls in $WDAY and $NFLX this morning, and have nothing else to do besides go outside and enjoy the sun.
Like I mentioned back at our early 2016 bootcamp, the volatility patterns this year are fairly similar to last year. The failed moves outside the range are your buy signals, hence the “OA BUY: NASDAQ” on Friday.
It’s going to be a kick ass summer. Again.

OA – Had to miss AHWOA today thanks to work but I had a quick question. You seem to be bullish on the Qs but bearish on AAPL. Are we just talking different time frames? Because you rarely (from what I’ve seen) take positions on the market
Bullish on the market, yes. Russell and Nasdaq primarily. We’re not talking different time frames, we’re talking different instruments. The market will go up without AAPL. Use 2012 as a template.
Are you still in NQ futures trade? Just wondering how long you tend to hold these, especially if you are up nicely on the trade

Smoke screen, yes. Been calling this play by play in the room this morning. Nasdaq won’t breach Friday’s low. The TICK has been divergent all morning.
Good to know about the TICK, not seeing the usual high (1.0+) intraday put:call ratio I would like to see into a selloff.

Is TSLA a good looking short-term chart? Looks to me that they just broke support at $237 and is struggling (unsuccessfully, IMHO) to get above $235.
If you replaced TSLA with FB from last week, would your assessment also be negative prior to earnings release with its inability to get above $209?
If you’re looking for a catalyst to juice the Nazz this week, TSLA could be it. 33% of float is short…
I see your point: it will probably be able to hold until earnings, after which it will jump one direction or another.
I’ll take the risk that it won’t meet investor high-bar expectations.

A friend has an unusual way of reading options activity around earnings events and his analysis says they miss. I was going to buy TSLA OTM calls if he said “up”. No dice….
I think you are right. I also note that TSLA gapped down in the open and still hasn’t filled it, which gives me second thoughts.

Getting a spike in intraday put:call ratio. They could sell market into close or make an attempt for Turnaround Tuesday. Lining up a few more call plays for the afternoon.

My $WDAY yesterday…comical today.
Funny to hear you mention $S last night. It came up on a scan on Friday, and my thought was, to wit, “Why the F#%& would I buy that stupid company?” and moved on- I was embarrassed to even ask about it in AHWOA. Bought it today! Small position because they report tonight, but interesting to see the accumulation into the report, and volatility was lower than last 2 reports so I could justify at least a little piece. Bought some time.

I’ve covered most shorts here but the market is cooked. I think we waffle around in May with all the ‘sell in may talk’ and then move lower.
Anybody else playing Gold? Everybody on TWTR was calling for higher after last week which led me to the dark side on the $1300+ breakout.
Methinks the late to the party bulls are about to get de-balled. Anyone else have any technical thoughts to share?
Weekly/ monthly charts look pretty damn bullish after multi yr consolidation, i.e. lots of pent up energy, but short term, the pain trade would be for a washout before moving back up. I let go of my GLD calls today.

Gold really took off after the false dollar breakout a couple weeks ago. Now it looks like the same thing might happen in reverse with a false breakdown. It’s all currency related right now for better or worse.
I am short junior miners fwiw.

Sold 1/3 AAPL calls, added small Jun ITM QQQ calls. If the close doesn’t hold where it is now, going to unload the QQQ calls. But if we do, pretty promising set ups on the daily.
